    Real Terry nappies:
Many local councils run an eco-baby scheme that encourages the use of Terry nappies. The local council will probably know of baby groups or poor families that would really appreciate the donation. Ditto churches and Mother's Union ( which runs a scheme specifically for struggling families.)

My KMing has stalled, but am applying the "use it up" method fairly diligently. OH's smart white work shirts are dying almost on a weekly basis ( I bought lots at the same time several years ago, so all dying at the same time.) Instead of buying replacements he is wearing the white shirts he hasn't worn so much ( he likes shirts with a pocket, but the old-yet-almost-unworn shirts have no pocket. Tough!!!!) He is also wearing smart coloured shirts as the current management is a bit more relaxed about clothing than the last lot.

Do not ask me to sew on pockets. I cannot even begin to do something that complicated. Says she with two sewing machines

Having a discussion on the CS thread about Bayliss & Harding - have decided mine can go to a CS instead of being re-gifted! CS bag filling up bit by bit. Just found a freebee in-flight bag of Molton Brown samples - that's going too. I've also just put in a collection of Country music LP's - they were MiL's - DH has left them in the top of the spare room wardrobe (where I keep my summer duvets) under said duvets for the last 10 years so I'm not even asking him so there!!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • Not been in for a while so hope everyone is ok.
I passed my book onto my daughter and she is really embracing the ideals she is transforming her home from somewhere that felt quite claustrophobic and fille dto the gills with stuff! She has cleared it to an amazing degree and says she feels so much better.

I took a couple of bags down the CS last weekend and have some more to take this weekend.

  • Today I woke with energy so have looked at how to `transform` my en suite with accessories.

Again all white and with an ikea cavernous white plastic laundry basket/seat. I took the laundry storage out as well as the extra towel stand and emptied the window cill and removed the cheap white plastic bin. Then draped a few towels on rails already on a light brown shallow cupboard. This time the towels are a medium nice grey and the same multi coloured stripey ones as in the bathroom. The identical rug will go in the en suite as well as the bathroom. Ok looked nice with the towels but way to go

Next step was a good paintwork clean, done that and gave the cills a coat of white paint, glad I kept and labelled all the paints. Now the difficult part, the colours and somehow the terracotta did not look right in that en suite but I still need earthy and preferably some roundness instead of rectangle, so after much searching I have placed an order, brabantia metallic mint. A 3 litre bin for r side of wash basin,, a 35 litre laundry bin with a cork top, to go in the corner between left side of washbasin and window and same in toilet brush holder. This colour will go very nicely with the rug. A seat? yes I need a seat and after much looking, went downstairs and got my 3 legged medium pine coloured spinning stool, short and it has a flat back and sits nicely below the window. So yes today, again, I have kondoed money but I like everything I have bought and they will move with me

That leaves me with two ikea storage seats, big and `ugly` and functional, I`ll keep them until after I have moved. Three large sandy coloured bland turtle mats, now rolled and tied with string, also to be kept, for justin

Of course today there is a ring at the door and a neighbour from down the road just passing, argh, no time to do any tidying whatsoever but I am old enough not to care, not really and we had a cuppa. She is a goodun, in that she never stays too long

A massive bag of an antique I used to collect and had left at my parent's house went off the CS. I also gave a china horse to the daughter of a friend and that sparked way more joy for her, than it would ever do for me!

Is it wrong to already be giving my Xmas bits to people already to keep my house clear? I should add that these are things like my reverse toiletries/treats packs to the local homeless shelter where my friend volunteers, the chocolates split into baubles for the team at work etc.

I am also clearing under the stairs. This is more so getting out the things for the Xmas fair that i have accumulated for 'our' tombola type stall which is in two weeks. I need to see what there is. We do a prize every time and let's just say this year I am doing a polite poster to stop some people who want to redraw a ticket as what they got doesn't fit in with their lifestyle!

Not in the slightest... that way, you know exactly where you are and what you need to get.:xmastree:

DS2 is down on a flying visit and kindly helped me remove the hard drive from the dead laptop, and the equivalent from my dead mobile phone. Both are now in the recycling box waiting for their ride to the electrical skip.
4 more books and a canvas picture into the CS box.

DH wrangled a pile of cardboard boxes into a neatly tied bundle for kerbside paper collection and now the hall feels much larger again.

And, my new cleaners are kondo-ing all the dust in the house!

Yes! Give out xmas pressies now so they are out of the way. I love choosing presents but hate having them sitting round taking up valuable space. Today I took a bag of tulips and planted them for a friend - a xmas present but need planting now-ish. I also took a bed jacket to another friend. It seemed silly to keep the cosy bed jacket until half way through winter when she can be toasty warm from now on.

I shall also be posting my nephew's and niece's presents at the weekend so their parents can store them!

Christmas is not really about presents, afterall. Happy to use it as an excuse to buy things for people I care about, but some of the presents can be put to good use immediately :)
A relative has a birthday at the beg of Dec and we always buy her a meat hamper then, which helps ease the cost of xmas for her.

Have just persuaded DH to return a winter hat he bought today. Well, when i say persuaded I mean I just laughed and said it was the most unsuited hat I had ever seen him in, and he's had some bad ones, believe me :rotfl: He looked in the mirror and capitulated immediately.

The marmalade theme is ,er, spreading :rotfl: I have just been commissioned to make a batch for a friend to give as xmas presents. i have lovely labels and ribbon etc to decorate the jars but i want to use small kilner type jars for this batch. Usually I just re-use jam jars, of course.
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
