Hi Lara I offered them on Freecycle, the CS didn't want them, although I usually take other books there. Because the encyclopaedias were quite old, and I'd bought them in a library sale for a fiver I felt they had done their turn. The man who took them was home schooling so they suited him fine. It's sometimes hard to get rid of them round here, perhaps it will be easier for you.

Yes I give books to local charity shops but they don’t any atm as they are full to the brim - apparently. Many thanks for replying so quickly :). My ones were bought brand new for me when I was little

Today DOH has fired up the new garden incinerator with a bin bag full of paperwork which I brought from DM's, plus some of our own, having waited until nearly dusk and checked all neighbouring windows were closed and washing in I think that he was rather enjoying himself:D

If the weather is good tomorrow I should get some me time and am hoping to Kondo some of my own paperwork, this is from the recent past, but I know I have loads in the ROM, family history stuff and quite a bit relating to previous employment and redundancy, which will have to wait a while longer.

  • I'm not entirely sure how I've managed to live here for 10 years and not think of this before...as my airing cupboard is now so tidy with space to spare, it struck me after doing some washing that perhaps now it's a bit cooler I could hang some bigger items in there to, you know, air and dry in the warm?!?! Mind BLOWN! towels dry in half the time.
I think I might be an idiot :) you know I've been thinking of buying an electric heated drying rack?

I just accept it as the joys of life, surprising oneself with one's ingenuity every so often!

Kondo'ing more money. The chap came this morning and drilled some drainage holes for our patio door. We thought that had solved the problem, but in the stair rod rain this afternoon it's coming in somewhere. We'll have to bite the bullet and have it replaced...

Whereabouts is the rain getting in? I ask because we have an issue with rain that is wind-driven onto the back of our house that gets forced into the cavity in one or two places around the upstairs windows and comes out through the dining room & French door frames.

:p I used to have a bit less money than I have now and I'm sure it's good for the ingenuity. Sooo, I try to sit on my hands when tempted to throw some money at a problem, and use my ingenuity and what I already own instead.

It's remarkable how many times that works out. ;)

Family have started asking the dreaded 'what do you want for xmas?' question. Thus far (I tried asking for nothing on previous years and this isn't allowed, apparently) I have asked for a diary and a couple of bungee cords - to attach things to my pushbike when shopping.

These are genuine needs, not random wants, and things I would be sourcing anyway, so if folks want to buy me something, either or both of those will be most welcome.

Other than that, I can't think of anything to want, and that's a happy position.:rotfl:

GQ do you need seed potatoes, fence posts, seeds, or anything replacing on your plot?

:) I replaced ten fenceposts (bought in June and stored until two weekends ago) recently and seed spuds aren't in the shops for several months. I've already bought next year's seeds on 50% reduction at Wilko (change from a tenner) so all is good to go.

:o I'm a beggar to shop for as I have nowhere to put anything!

This is what I do, have done for years. The airing cupboard has the hot water tank in it, so it does get very warm (even with a lagged tank) and i have 4 rails above it and one higher up. If the washing has had a blow outside, then I can get 20 items of clothing in it to finish off, if it's straight out of the machine then I put 10 in (less folded). I have a mini peg 'thing' where i put undies and socks and that hangs from the back rail. It can be a bit of a faff rotating it all, but I have a routine now. I have a freestanding airer in the conservatory where stuff goes waiting it's turn in the airing cupboard.

I do have a tumble dryer - though it is barely used. if there is a run of wet days i might use it for towels and sheets - but only to avoid the faff, not because I necessarily have to.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
