Sorry for your loss Charley thinking about you in the days ahead keep strong.
Loving the stories of pumpkins etc, I must dig up the last 2 rows of potatoes today after church.
Also the handbag stories. I have a great selection of handbags all bring joy and as I always say when my weight goes up or down usually up handbags always fit:D
Had a visit from some family yesterday and did a roast for lunch loads left and I offered them the leftovers for sandwiches for the rest of the week but their dog had other Ideas. He grabbed the whole bit in his mouth and made off with it. I really didn't think he could reach to the back of the kitchen worktop. It made such a mess with little bits of beef all over my hall, sitting room and kitchen. Took me about 2 hours to clean after they went. You can see why I prefer cats:rotfl:0 -
Been on a six mile cycle ride with enough hills. I am very warm and glowing, ok perspiring all over and will be up for a shower just as soon as I have cooled down a bit. Amazing today, not much wind and I flew, honestly I flew, ate up the hills and my bike is very heavy, dutch type but it does have 8 gears (mrs Bouquet voice). Did several intense 6 second bursts, as recommended for my age in the staying younger programme on bbc 1 (was an amazing series). Loved the ride, one milk tanker, 2 tractors and 3 bikes sprinting past, like they always do when they see my age. I think it was the vibropower slim, kept my muscles strong. Today I will use it for longer, intensity 8 for upper body and squats and 3 for sitting with leg raises, maybe 5 minutes in total
Loads of energy again and feeling so upbeat, listened to my body yesterday and did not much. Will do a bit of KM as in feng shui not chucking out, re-bounder is on the landing, large bellicon with a grab rail. I will take it apart and bring it down a bit at a time and re-pack into its bag in the shed. Nice leather brown bucket seat will take its place from the sewing room, also exposing the 2 essential cheval mirrors in there, needed for self-fitting as in sewing. They are in a corner, facing the northern window, so will make the small room look lighter again
Oooh feng shui is what is doing it for me now, if an area looks calming and gorgeous then that alone makes me upbeat
All it took was one multicoloured rug that I already had but in the wrong feng shui quadrant. The very same book is next to my recliner, ready for a good read and relax later on0 -
À lovely freegle lady took away the cabinet gas heater and also bought the 2 15kg cylinders that I was about to advertise for a very low price a) to get rid of them and b) hopefully to do someone a good turn, so 3 bulky items have left the house and a wee bit more money into my slush fund which I am saving to "have my colours" done. It i s quite expensive and not a priority, but I think it might enable me to let go of clothes that I love which look OK on me, but perhaps do not make me look and feel great IYSWIM:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. s I am slowly recovering from a bad fall from my bicycle, nothing being achieved by me at all unless it can be managed using one arm.I'm not one for loads of handbags. I've settled on a particular style I like so I buy one, use it to death then buy as near an equivalent as I can find to replace it.
no animal is killed specifically for leather at the price point I use, so I'm just going to have to accept my own hypocrisy. The turning point has been hearing the description of the contamination of the oceans by plastic
Sadly, my lovely Dad died last Sunday at an amazing hospice in St Asaph, North Wales. He waited for me and my two sisters to take my mum to the dining room for some tea before he finally slipped away. When we returned to the room he’d taken his final breath. The hospice staff say they see it so often.
He was so tiny at the end that the funeral director advised us not to worry about finding clothes for him. Cancer had devastated his body and brain.
This week has been a whirlwind as I’m sure some of you will sadly know from personal experience and we’ve still to go through the funeral mass, the cremation and Dad’s ‘splash’ as we’re calling his wake.
I’ve finally woken up to why KM can help us live our lives to the fulland when I get back to Norfolk I will be picking up and carrying on with that. I can’t begin to imagine how much worse it will be sorting things out when my Mum passes if we don’t get a grip on stuff now!
So keep, experience and do only that which sparks joy all for I have surely learnt you CANNOT take it with you. Love to all for making me smile xxx
Hope you're doing okay.Save2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
So sorry for your loss Charly xx
Maddie hope you are feeling better xx0 -
((((((((charly)))))) sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. Take care of yourself, hun.
Am at the parental homestead. Will be getting a lift back to the city first thing tomorrow with a commuting pal.
By 09.30 hrs, Dad and I were back from doing a dump run, all the Stuff in the separate bays inc a very knackered old aluminium saucepan from Nan's bungalow, it's just the 12 month anniversary of her death and there are still bits and bobs from her household sifting out of our households.
Mum (who makes handmade wool socks for the menfolk) had a LBM and wondered if there were enough leftovers from previous pairs to make more socks. So, I retrieved part-balls of wool from all their hidey holes and sorted them into grey, green, blue and brown wool. There are a multitude of subtle variations within each shade but Mum now had the navy selection and has started knitting the first of a new pair. She will have two socks on the go at the same time and will changeover from one shade of blue to the other on the same point on each sock. F'rinstance, the feet of the socks may end up a very-slightly-different shade to the legs, but they won't show when being worn.
After all these years of sock-knitting, we can see enough yarn to make, at a guess, 4-5 pairs of socks. It'll be good to get them used.
Then we turfed out the contents of a handbag not in present use, then moved on to one of the back garden sheds, of which there are three. With the day warm, dry and windless, it was easy to haul out a lot of the contents and sort them out on the lawn.
There was a mixture of gardening and decorating stuff and the overflow from the broom cupboard which had to be emptied in a hurry about 18 months ago when the meter was changed. Some of the things never made it back in again. Why oh why there are three cans of spray starch, a seldon-used product, it beyond me. And about a gadzillion rags but they all have to be kept. At least they are now contained in onion nets and hung up on the wall. We found several more things for recycling but they can't go today because the recyc bin is chocka as is due for emptying tomorrow.
I have taken possession of a small part of the Ancestral Pyrex, an unusual rectangular lidded tureen/ casserole (?) which will go straight into service and be very handy in my fridge.
Have been pulling stuff around a lot, but nothing particularly amusing to report, except that some things are coming back into service, some are leaving for recycling or refuse and some others are of the category of usable stuff which will have to be used before more is purchased. The net shrinkage of stuff isn't huge but it will end up a lot tidier once the bin bag mountain has been shrunk thru natural attrition.
Pretty good half-day's work, nothing spectacular, but sometimes that's the way it goes.
Have a good day, everyone, GQ xEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Well done, GQ, a satisfying feeling, even if no mega releases!
DH came home with half a carrier bag of lovely apples yester. This morning, while the roofer was removing some daylight from the loft (iykwim), I peeled, cored and cooked them down for freezing in batches. Also made one open apple tart which has been partly consumed for lunch
One top into CS bag. I have considered releasing it every time I pull it out of the drawer but somehow it always made the cut. Yesterday I tried it on again and decided it can definitely go.
I have deconstructed my birthday cards, saved a few nice pics for toppers /gift tags and the rest are in the recycling.
On pondering the craft room (my back bedroom, AKA the multi purpose room :rotfl:) I had a LBM - an old record case*, that prev held some card-making supplies that are now contained neatly in a plastic crate, would be perfect for the various sketch pads, acrylic paper and boards. All would fit into the box and would be kept upright to prevent warping. All other painting stuff fits neatly into one small plastic box and a tote bag so that solves the only remaining storage issue. Feeling very pleased about that.
I have to locate the latest xmas pressies into the present stash but must add them to the list first, so I don't duplicate / forget any.
Those 2 'tidyings' will mean the multipurpose room is back to its best
* For those under the age of 45, these were large black discs that, when applied to a record player played pop songs, or classical music if you were posh :rotfl:I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Thank you so much for all of your helpful suggestions about what to leave for our buyer when we move home. Sorry I can't remember who suggested what, as there are so many of you! I've gone through my list as I've read along, to make sure I've included everything.
We've left some tins of paint in a corner in the garage, so I've noted down what room they are for and the paint colour of each room.
We've had a busy day clearing out more of the garage and getting lots of gardening done in the lovely weather. A neighbour asked why we were weeding the borders and mowing the lawn when we're moving out - I would feel so guilty letting everything get in a mess for the new homeowner! My Dad says to leave the house and garden as you would like to find it, and that's exactly how I feel.
We haven't managed any tip runs today because we've been so busy, so that will have to be done next weekend - hopefully that will be it for tip runs then. There seems to be a lot in the garage that we are taking with us, but we enjoy gardening and DIY and doing as much ourselves as we can, so we do have plenty of tools and supplies that we use and need to take.
MMF007 - it sounds like you got some M&S bargains! We love treating ourselves to some lovely M&S food too, especially when they have their dine in offer on - so much cheaper than going out for dinner. I like to cash out my Topcashback vouchers as M&S gift vouchers and spend them in the food hall.
Bumblebeany - the knicker dispenser did make me giggle :rotfl:
GoingToDoIt - I did the same thing of kondoing my emails and it's made such a huge difference. I got so fed up of spam too, so I created a new email address and it's been so nice having a great deal fewer emails to go through every day. I really do feel like her method can be applied to so many different aspects of life.
iamsalt - good luck! We are moving in 3 weeks or possibly sooner, so our spare room is currently full of boxes and packing materials! I can't wait for it to be over now so we can get settled in the new house.Thank you to everyone who posts on here0 -
I have caught up on postings, Charly so sorry about your Dad, take care of yourself as best you can.
Karmacat and shanks, thanks for asking, I am mending slowly, making a little more progress each day, OH is being a star and has been looking after both me and dog very well. Fingers crossed I will be able to drive soon, problem being it is my gear change arm and clutch foot lol!
Radio/CD player out to go to the recycling, but new one on order so it's a case of 1 in 1 out.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0
