Everything stops for tea...
Thank you @themadvix and @savingholmes - I made it to the event 😁 Very glad I went as it was lovely to see all the WI ladies over an afternoon tea. I left home early so I could take a longer route and avoid the floods but I still didn't get to the venue in time to bag a free parking space. There is a cheap long-stay car park close by so I paid 90p for three hours. We had pate and french bread, finger sandwiches, quiche, scones with jam and cream and little cakes washed down with tea and coffee. And all for £5.50 😁
I caught up with some of our interest groups and made arrangements to re-start those. We put a Book Club meeting in for next week plus a Show Team meeting. We've been advised that our local country show will be taking place this year so we'll be entering the WI competitions. They are keeping the themes from the previous cancelled competitions so as not to waste any work which was carried out at the time.
My J0hn L3wi$ parcel arrived. The bra is close but not quite right but at least it's pointing me in the right direction on style. The two pairs of socks came with a 3for2 label on which wasn't mentioned on the website. Sure enough, when I checked the brand site, they are on offer. So I've ordered from the brand site to get an extra pair plus 15% off as it's my first order (whispers) I may have also added a pyjama top to replace one I've worn out and to qualify for free deilvery. The bra and original socks will go back and I'll order a slightly different bra style using some reward vouchers which have just come through.
We had leftover sausage ragu and pasta for supper. My back is a little sore from my adventures over the last two days so I'll be taking it easy this evening. I've plenty of prep to do for next week's meetings. Sooo exciting to be back out in the world.
More stormy weather coming our way tomorrow and Thursday 🙁 I'm so very grateful that we're surving them relatively unscathed and so very sorry for those poor folks who are experiencing flooding, sometimes for the umpteenth time.
Hope the weather gods are smiling on you all

Hello Stripey 🙂 It's good to be cooking healthy food again. I'm determined that Mr F and I will have more fun this year. We've spent the last two years surviving the pandemic and looking after everyone else. It's time we focussed on us now.

That's a shame SL - although it sounds as though you have lots of fun going on for Wednesdays already. I'm really looking forward to using my art nook and getting on with lots of creative projects.

It was a very early start yesterday as Mr F had to go to a business meeting near London. I walked FDawg around the fields. They are water-logged and muddy. Really fed up with this weather now. We're due high winds again today and snow 😲 The forecast is for things to improve after today though 🌈
I got my chores done in the morning so I could make a start on the WI Show projects in the afternoon. My first job - to make an antique map ⛵. It didn't take long and I'm pleased with the end result.
Lunch was a tuna salad and I had a cheese and tomato bagel for supper as I didn't feel like cooking. The chocolate fudge cake has been finished so I need to focus on losing some weight now.
I checked our oil tank and it's still about half full but I'm debating whether to get it filled up now. I fear that the price might rocket with the Ukraine crisis escalating. What does everyone think?

Goodness knows, but in can't imagine it's going to go down 🙄
Yes, we are also forecast snow, and everywhere is saturated. I too am sick of it!
What is the antique map for? Is this some kind of entry in a village show?! Is yours an actual map, or made up?3 -
I certainly can't see oil prices going down in the next few months so I'd say top it up."You won't bloom until you're planted" - Graffiti spotted in Newcastle.
