A Merry Little Christmas
We have had a lovely, jolly, chaotic time. All our guests arrived when expected (although we did have a Covid scare at one point and thought we'd lose the company of one). Thoughtful and useful presents were exchanged. Food was good and plentiful and I judged the portion sizes well so we've had no waste so far. A planned theatre trip went ahead and was enjoyed by all and we managed to fit a couple of not too soggy walks in. Lots of games were played and we thoroughly enjoyed the time together - it's been a long time coming 😁
A couple of meals from the plan didn't go ahead as we were so full we were bumping courses to the next day. So we have a few things in the freezer we can eat to save me cooking this week. I've also been able to cancel the grocery shop I'd booked for this Thursday. One of our guests bought all the fresh fruit and veg from her fridge up with her as she didn't want it going to waste at home whilst she was with us so we have that to bolster us too. The savings from the cancelled grocery shop can go towards our unexpected blind costs.
Everyone has left now and we've had a bit of a tidy up. I'm intending to put the house properly back in order bit by bit over the next few days. It's been lovely having a house full but I'm really enjoying a sit down now in front of the log burner and the telly. I doubt we'll want to eat anything later as we had a big final feast of leftovers with everyone before they started their journeys home. As hosts, we've had early starts and late nights for the last few days and the disruption to FDawg's routine has meant he's woken us up a few times in the early hours. So a snooze on the sofa might be imminent and, if not, definitely an early night.
I'd intended to wish all a Merry Christmas before the day but time was against me so apologies for that. I do hope you all had a fabulous time and were able to enjoy the company of your loved ones.
Seasons greetings from the Fortunate household.

It was greent - lovely but exhausting. Think I'll need a lot of nanna naps over Twixmas.

Thank you RT - it was fabulous. We're shattered now though and I'm looking forward to a quiet few days of rest and recuperation. Thank you for your Christmas wishes. I hope all went well on your homestead too.
