That does sound like a very mixed and challenging week. Good that Uncle F has some support now and it doesn't all fall on you. How sad about your friend, lovely to have somewhere to remember her though. Take care x3

Frogs
Thank you all for your kind words - they are appreciated 🥰
I weeded another bed in the veg patch today, re-planted lettuce seeds (the ones I planted originally have come to nothing), replaced the plum moth trap (perhaps a little too late) and planted out two cherry tomato plants.
Lunch was Courgette & Caramelised Red Onion Tart with salad including home-grown radishes and cress - the first of our garden produce this year 😁 Supper was Green Bean Parsley Pesto Gnocchi although I used shop-bought pesto as Mr F was off to Pilates and I needed to rustle something up quickly before he went.
I'll need to sort out the house insurance soon. It should be easier this year as we aren't letting the annex so will have more choice of insurer, however, it's still not my favourite job 😆
Another 'not my favourite' job is finding another dentist. Our current one has long delays and the hygienist and dentist we were seeing have now left. We weren't that impressed with them anyhow but finding another locally isn't going to be easy.
So some frogs to eat 😆
Nearly the weekend guys 😊

So sorry to hear about your friend Fortune. What a sad, sad thing to happen. Really pleased you've managed to get some help for Uncle F though (and not pleased to hear Mr F isn't well either). Glad you've weeded the veg patch though.
I'm with you on insurance - possibly mt least favourite financial job. I confess I'm stashing away more each month this year so I can justify going with M&S next year, then I don't have to worry about daft things like exactly how tall the trees next to the house are etc as they just cover everything 🙄
We could do with a new dentist too - ours is near work, so is a right pain at the minute now I'm not there, and I'm annoyed with them after they (understandably) refused to see me recently after I'd spent an hour driving there and was about 8 minutes late 🙄 quite unreasonable of me, but we've been thinking about a more local one for a while. Not a priority until after we've got a car and ordered the new kitchen - there are only so many things I can deal with at once!5 -

Glorious! 🌞🌞🌞
What a glorious day it is here in the Shire. Mr F and I have taken advantage and spent the day in the veg patch. All the veg beds are now weeded and I managed to weed the herb bed too which was a bonus as I didn't think I'd have the time or the energy left to do it. I've planted out marrows, courgettes, potatoes, green beans and cucumbers (at least I think they're cucumbers - I forgot to label them 😆). Everything is way behind where it should be of course due to the damp and cold May. However, I'm hoping some things will come good. We've just the fruit cage to weed now and then I can turn my attention to the flower beds which have also been sorely neglected. An hour or so in the garden each morning is serving as exercise and is proving enough to get on top of things supplemented with some extra time at the weekend.
Lunch yesterday was a bagel with hot smoked sweet chilli salmon, cream cheese and capers. Supper was Creamy Courgette Risotto and there was enough left over for lunch today. I'm planning to make some granola this afternoon and some rhubarb compote. My rhubarb plant is now in its third year and thriving so you may see more in the way of rhubarb recipes appearing in my diary 😆
I've done a little research on the house insurance and will spend a bit more time on it on Monday. Some money was spent yesterday on dog food and treats but all within budget. Tomorrow we are planning on going for a drive out in the 4x4 to see the scenery. We'll take a packed lunch but I'm hoping to stop somewhere for ice cream 🍦😁 Really feeling the need for a little break.
Thank you all so much for your kind words about my friend - it's making me think a lot about our future plans. Up until now I hadn't seriously considered that time might run out sooner than expected. Which is ridiculous because of course it might. It just didn't seem probable before.
I don't want to end on a solemn note. We are making the most of every day, feeling grateful for everything that we have and planning to see friends and family as soon and as often as possible. This loss has been a reminder to live.
Have a fabulous weekend all.
