I believe we all should take comfort from different sources. Mine is Mother Nature. I love animals and plants and believe she is firmly in charge.

The HT and I are firm believers in Mother Nature. The HT goes to a high school which is a church academy and as such religion is mentioned a lot. When he started there I told him that using Christian ethics as a standard for living your life was no bad thing. I've had letters home from school praising his integrity and hard work so somewhere in the mix between our every day life and his school life I believe that a decent person is being grown.

I had a funny experience the other day. My grandad who was my mum's stepdad (you would never have known that he wasn't a blood relative) loved growing things. Every pip or seed that he came across, he would look for a pot and some earth to see what would happen. I remember gran panicking once, trying to get rid of the seeds from a honeydew melon before he came home :rotfl: He died about 30 years ago but the HT has grandad's middle name as his middle name. I caught the HT looking at my avocado stone the other day and when he said "Yes, I think we can grow one of those" it was like stepping back in time. The HT has always seen people that are invisible to everyone else so it wouldn't surprise me if he's had a chat with grandad at some point :)

Blimey - you lot can talk the hind leg off a donkey (Mar get the BBQ on) :rotfl:

I only popped to work for a few hours and had 3 pages to catch up on :D I have read, but I must own up to next to non of it having stuck due to fried brains :o

Hope those lacking sleep get some soon x Those with worries and health issues are okay x And here's hoping Budgies behave x

Hester Hope your family members are safe x

Empty Glad to hear DS is out of hospital x

    Onebrokelady Welcome

As for Religion, I have none, but I am in the take people for who they are not what they are camp, if faith keeps you going, then that's wonderful, I don't care what deity you believe in, as long as you are a nice person, you will do for me x

Edit: I thought I'd add an update to my recent events - DS1 who was horribly betrayed by his GF of 4 years, took temporary solace in the World Cup, and has been enjoying a new life as a single man - beer and buddies are a good stop gap for a broken heart x. DS2 had 2 interviews on the mainland, did not get one, has not heard back from the second, but is also applying for more 'exciting' jobs on the Island too, so whether he moves out or not is entirely job dependent, I would miss Him a lot, but it's his choice and we will support Home whatever x

A couple of interesting quotes... never mock those who say they believe in Nature - they can prove it exists. And religious faith is a bit like climbing a mountain - there can be many different paths but they all lead to the top.

Fuddle if one can buy spelt pasta, that suggests that it can be made by a Fuddle significantly cheaper than buying...I have a spare pasta machine (don't ask :rotfl:) if you have space & it would be of any use?

Today's adventure? I have just spent 40 minutes draped across a bed with quite a few members of the public passing me by and offering helpful comments...
No, we have not moved our furniture outside for the breeze, I was trying out mattresses in a department store :D

DH suggested we pop along late morning because it is my day off, he had a spare hour and the traffic near the shop is chaos after 3pm. I did some online research but the mattress I wanted to try was not in stock and consequently DH did his usual nonsense of giving up at the first hurdle and demanding to go home.
I suggested that as he had insisted we go today and there were A LOT of mattresses that we COULD try, that [STRIKE]we[/STRIKE] he should be sensible and just get on with lying down in public! How else is one supposed to choose a mattress?.

So after a [STRIKE]little tiff [/STRIKE] big strop by me, he finally lay down for 30 seconds, after sitting on the edge and saying it was too firm, too soft, too ...... everything. I took the initative and tried 4, picked my favourite and second fave and asked him to give them a few minutes each. Of course we each prefer a different one! Anyhoo, I think we shall prob order my favourite and i shall hope for the best :rotfl: He did not dislike that one, well not in the 40 seconds try he gave it, anyway.

To add to the nuisance value, we got caught in temp roadworks and spent 40 mins getting the 7 miles home

Fuddle, and other Fencers, I find it fascinating to hear of the many and various beliefs you hold. It is all part of the entertaining, interesting, sad, amusing, down to earth, lovely Fence community. Keep it coming, I say.

PS, I haven't been offered a job as a model to sell beds, no idea why? :rotfl:
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

I am hoping that I am surrounded by supportive spirits, my husband, my sister, my parents. They need to be here to help me through this very difficult stage and thank you mrsLW, always the voice of hope and reason. I suppose this must be like being in limbo, the promise of things to come but right now just lots of work and neither here nor there

MM, I bought a new mattress for the spare bed only two days ago, after spending 2 very uncomfortable nights on the existing mattress. That has been tipped and I await a pocket spring from john lewis. I got which for a month and was horrified to read their best buys then finding so many low reviews from people who had actually bought

I've not once made pasta Floss. The idea has me panicked. How easy is it for a kak handed simpleton?

MMF I though you might have had a back episode that saw you stuck adorning the bed so having a tiff is a good result! :D

Fuddle - pasta is easy to make. As with everything, google it, see 27 million different options and then go with what you think makes sense to start with...

but also consider other alternatives. The cheapest way to replace something you can't eat is with something else you already eat, not a special replacement food. For example, I can't eat bread (not to do with yeast or gluten but due to texture and my ability to choke on it in public....) so I simply don't eat sandwiches. I usually have a salad. Annoyingly BA have taken salad off the short-haul inflight menu so I now have to remember to take something with me if flights involve mealtimes. But otherwise it's not a problem. Breakfast is usually yogurt and fruit, maybe with muesli or granola or oats if I need them. Lunches are salads. I don't each much in the way of pasta, potatoes or noodles either, so in the evenings I eat a lot of veg and try to remember to add protein (actually, I have to remember to do that for salads too, which is why my morning yogurt is so important).

Have a think about the meals you are making and whether they NEED the pasta/bread/pastry or whether you can have the other components without them. (Spiralised courgette - or courgette sliced with a peeler - is great with a lot of pasta sauces).
