  • Well, still no official news. OH texted after he'd taken MIL to get some food during the break between visiting hours. They were heading back for the second round, so hopefully there will be some news tonight, but it isn't looking probable. I'm trying to stay off of google as I've only got bits and pieces of information and will only get worked up, but I hate being in the dark and feeling like there is no limit to what there might be to worry about.

Still, I also like to keep busy, so I've made a roast chicken and sliced it up and made some tabbouleh and a cake as well. There is a loaf of bread and plenty of fruit so I can put together food when and if needed as I'm not sure what OH will be doing tomorrow--it depends on how clearing went and if there is any news tonight. SIL couldn't visit today so suspect she will go tomorrow. She is the medical professional so it will be good to have her there if there are results.

Pollyanna, I'll send you any spare rain we get. We had a big thunderstorm last night so it has been warm here today but supposed to go cooler tomorrow. I imagine rain will be involved. I hope you and your DD find some relief.

    Hugs to FPK.
    Yes Ivyleaf it is.
Well after an overcast start it's been glorious today, we've got all the way to Sonning and are guests of Uri Geller, the mooring overnight is £10 and it all goes to charity.

    Which charity HUH?

You mentioned the rain overnight in an earlier post: Is it really loud in the boat? I'm a very, very light (rarely do sleep much :() sleeper and any rain I imagine in a boat would be very noticeable and would wake even the deepest of sleepers?

I'm currently reading the BBC live feed about the latest attack in Europe. Sadly I'm unsurprised by it despite how horrific it is. :(

What brought me to tears though was the photo of people queuing to give blood to help the survivors...It's that solidarity, almost immediately, against this kind of evil, which gives some hope in such sorry times.

DH made it to his parents, was stuck for about 2.5 hours on the M6 and surrounding roads but at least he got there. Hoping he gets home OK, tonight!
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
  • I don't know which charity Karcher, sorry.
Yes the rain drums on the roof of the boat but I find it soothing.
We are leaving sunny Sonning soon and heading for Tesco's in Caversham, we need milk and drinking water and more food, not having a reliable fridge freezer limits what food I can keep on board.
    Chin up, Titus out.

  • Whilst we are on the subject of books, for those who like vampires and werewolves there is our very own Lyssa Medana who has written 3 books I think, The Forgotten Village, Digging up the Past and Dinner at Dark.
The stories aren't too scary and funny in places.

Fuddle, I'm glad you have some allies on the allotment.

The rain was drumming on the roof at midnight last night and carried on for some time, it's still very overcast, I think we will move on to Henley today.

WHAT?:eek::eek: Who brought the alligators along?

  • Morning all,

We did get some news last night, it is hopeful but still not certain. They think FIL has a rare, incurable, but not very aggressive cancer. They think he can possibly go home today and start chemo next week to help slow things down.

OH has headed out again to collect his mum. We're hoping FIL will get released early in the afternoon as everyone is quite tired and at the moment the verdict seems to be that unless the tests come back with something surprising he'll go on to live a relatively normal life bar a few extra hospital appointments and chemo that (fingers crossed) won't have him feeling too poorly.

So, I'm working today and will head to the gym early afternoon if I can stay awake for it. It is hard to tell how OH is holding up. He seems tired but mostly fine, but I suspect he just hasn't stopped long enough for it to sink in.

That's hopeful news - FairyPrincess - glad it wasn't worse.

Floss - thanks for the heads up on the M6 - dsis is coming here tonight with family from the Lake District and will be heading back down south on Sunday having swapped her kids for ds1 who is back to Uni. I'll reroute them via the M60, M56 and that new link road.

If there are any alligators around, they'll feel right at home in the amount of rain here - I'll soon have my own swamp. Just as long as we don't get the flood sirens again....
