It's OK mar, nobody could possibly mistake you for a sweet little old lady.

I've never read any Joe Donnelly or F Paul Wilson so does that qualify me for SLOL status?

Mardatha you are a girl after my own heart. I love everything paranormal, fiction or non fiction books and any TV programmes. I also give the effect of normality on the outside :rotfl:.
I remember when I was very young, going to the local market every Sat with my pocket money. There was a toy/book stall there and every week I wanted a book, mostly a Ladybird book, until one time I asked for a pair of roller skates and I can still remember the look of confusion on my mother's face.
I don't really have a favourite author but do like some of Stephen King, Dean Koontz, James Herbert and also Graham Masterson. :D

It's weird, I can read Paranormal and Horror, but can't watch it - well not without getting the Heebeejeebee's :rotfl::rotfl:

I don't watch it either, I find films boring. My imagination is far more horrible than special effects :D
Nannywindow, try Shrike by Joe Donnelly. Here's a review of it:
By the cover you'd think this was just another horror novel, but it's much more than that. Donelly has much more in common with James Herbert than any of the aforementioned horror authors, but where Herbert sometimes fails to truly chill your blood, Donnelly hits the spot every time. He obviously researched into the occult for some time before writing this story, and it pays off - the supernatural elements of the tale are much more believable when set in this context. The air of darkness he creates is all pervasive; it's been a long time since I felt so involved with a book as I did with Shrike. I wouldn't step into an elevator alone for weeks after reading this! Highly reccommended.
  • Anne Rice who wrote Interview with a Vampire has also written some erotica as well.
Then there is th Sookie Stackhouse series, vampires and werewolves, Janet Evanovich's books about Stephanie Plum, do not read these books in a public place, they and Pratchett are the only books to make me howl with laughter.

I've no time to read any books as it's taken me ages to catch up with all the [STRIKE]witterings[/STRIKE] stories on here :p...blimey you lot can talk :rotfl:

Seriously though books are my thing and I can not part with my rather large collection despite the space they take up. I love reading all types literature, poetry, non-fiction and of course The Garden Fence thread :)

Burtha I totally agree with the others that saying nothing on faceache and letting Pratface find out by other means is the way to go...it will irk him that you are clearly coping and successfully building a happy new life without him. Far more satisfying to let him wonder what you're up to :D

I hope I can join the planned party...I'm rather adept with a corkscrew

Thanks Mardatha for the suggestion. I have a feeling that I've already read it but will have a look just to check as I wouldn't want to miss one :rotfl:.
I do watch paranormal films ( don't like " slasher " films ) but I prefer reality shows and tend to record a lot on the Really channel, on Friday nights. My DD tried to get me a ticket to be a participant on Most Haunted a while back, because they were doing a show locally, but no chance, they were all snapped up very quickly :(.
Re the party - I think at this rate a very large marquee will be needed for it. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone could attend in person. Do you think we would need Bouncers on the door, just to deter any undesirables ;). No names mentioned :silenced: :rotfl:.

  • We have just scratted and pressed 6 and a half gallons of apple juice! My arm feels like it's going to fall off but I do have some nice fresh juice in the fridge to enjoy later on. Cookie and I have also just been picking in the garden and got blackberries, tomatoes, green beans and a very large cabbage which I'm making into coleslaw, I say we loosely as all she did was eat fallen blackberries and get stuck in the polytunnel from time to time, she's so cute!

I've never heard of a scratter (other than to describe a scruffy little oik) so will go educate myself to see what you've been up to. Lyn any idea why the raspberry canes that are green ready for next year (had rasps this year and cut old canes to the ground) are now flowering at the top? What do I do?

I made fish cakes for tea with HM wedges and salad. Lovely :it's been a chill day today. I needed to housework and knit a sock.

Now it's gone I will dare mention I had some random stabbing pains to the left of my chest. I worried it was pericarditis again but doc went with stress because of allotment debarcle and I've been ok today now it's all died down. Life has turned me into a stress reactor so much so I don't know if I can do a job again and that annoys and worries me. I definitely struggled to deal with asks/pressures of the charity shop. I'm being referred for counselling. Only I would need counselling over gardening! I'm ok though. :)
