Just lost a post again. Fed up.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Speak the truth. Even if your voice shakes.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.0 -
DD2 has a friend who is autistic, we've known her since she was 4, she struggles with new friends too.Chin up, Titus out.0

Friends are funny things aren't they? When you are young you seem to have hundreds and as time goes on they become fewer. I am very lucky to have quite a few close friends, one would have been the children's legal guardian if anything had happened to me after my DH died. I don't see her often now due to distance but when we catch up it's like we saw each other yesterday.
When DH died I saw who my true friends were, they are the ones I still have and the children (30, 29 and 26) are all very fond of them, they saw us through some rough times.
MMF, such a worry about your in laws but good if you step in now to try to get them some help before they have more serious problems.
You're doing a fantastic job there Cranky.0 -
DD1's "kindred spirit" best friend is autistic. They met on a forum! They text daily, and when they can they meet up in London to do something interesting and have lunch. DD recently spent a lot of money she couldn't really afford, to go by train to advocate for her friend at a PIP tribunal. I was sp proud of her, especially as they won
her friend wanted to pay her the money back but she wouldn't take it, so friend paid for lunch instead.
I needed to pop into church this morning and on the way home I met a lady lugging a trolley full of shopping. She commented that it was very busy at the shops this morning. I said she should have waited until this afternoon as it would be really quiet then. She hadn't realised the football was on today.0 -
I've just popped down to the village Co Op and I've never seen so many people buying large quantities of alcohol of all kinds, the queue in the shop was l o n g and both on the way there and back I saw people with boxes full of beer, wine etc. I think there are going to be some very sore heads later today and tomorrow morning whatever the result of the game this afternoon!0

Thanks Floss
Our shop was also crowded, perhaps made worse by the refurb, but traffic in town was also worse than normal, I expect many wanted to get home early today. We drove to another town for Aldi (only about 20 mins) theirs is much bigger than ours and had things we haven't seen in awhile. We stocked up on frozen fruit, so I think a smoothie might be in order this afternoon as a treat. Unfortunately even with the refurb I don't think our local shop will be able to get everything in, it is quite small as is the plot it sits on.
Maggie the cat has been very intent on a particular bush in the garden for a few days now. We thought perhaps there were mice or similar in there, I expect there are many displaced by the fires. OH has just come in to say that no, there are birds in there. I think Maggie may have to be watched carefully outside for awhile, she took a swipe at a young one but thankfully missed. The poor thing was not pleased that she was made to come in after that, she can't understand.
Right, I'm off to squeeze in some exercise and then if I have any energy left and it isn't too hot I may go up the hill to see what the bilberries are like. Should be nice and quiet up there while the match is on.0 -

Well, it's nice that we won, but not much point going to bed tonight as apart from the heat I'll be woken at intervals by people going past singing "Two-oo Nil, Two-oo-oo Nil, Two Nil, Two Nil" to the tune of Amazing Grace.0

No noise here, but glad we won
May have to have a little (BIG) G&T to celebrate :j:j
