Afraid it isn't a good year for bilberries. I thought it was a bit early, but many of them are just a bit small and dry. I think they're suffering a bit. The leaves also look heat stressed. I got a few, but not enough for a full sized tart. Might do a mini one as I've got the filo out for tea tonight. I'm having a go at altering my spanikopita recipe. I really love it and the spinach is great for my iron levels so I've swapped to filo and I'm trying a reduced fat feta (and will watch the portion as well). We'll see how it goes.

I must confess to being a bit disappointed at the win. I'm not a fan of sport and find the shouting, drunkeness etc. very unpleasant so knowing there is more of it to come doesn't make me the least bit happy. OH has kindly been quite subdued in telling me the result although I imagine he is quite pleased. :rotfl:

Well, it's nice that we won, but not much point going to bed tonight as apart from the heat I'll be woken at intervals by people going past singing "Two-oo Nil, Two-oo-oo Nil, Two Nil, Two Nil" to the tune of Amazing Grace.

My best ever wake up from that kind of thing was just after we moved here. 2am and you can hear it coming up the road, a man singing "I can walk five hundred miles and I can walk five hundred more". Trouble was that was the only line he knew. He must have managed half way up the road before a woman shouted "Shut up" at what I assume to be the top of her voice. Without missing a beat he shouted back "You shut up you fat *****, I can walk five hundred miles I can walk five hundred more". For some reason I found it funny (probably because it was so surreal) and it cheered me up when our new house was still in the "oh what have I done?" stage of house moving.

I did have an "Aaah" moment the other day when the Editor of i described his two-year-old DD chanting "Football comin' ho-ome", pausing occasionally to ask "Why it comin' to my house?" :D
  • I've been watching the Hickstead Derby and seen some very brave horses and good horsemanship. I've also sorted quite a few of the kitchen cupboards, shed some surplus equipment and packed quite a lot of boxes, picked beans and courgettes and generally NOT been watching football, give me a good rugby match or game of cricket any day of the week!

I was supporting England from a chair in the sunny garden. When the first goal went in a roar went up from a distant pub, followed 2 seconds later by DH! I went inside to watch the second half but TBH I'd rather watch the tennis :)

I've been watching the Cricket, much more exciting, and we won by a country mile.

Hi everyone - do we still have a "tougher" thread?
    Thx WCS
  • This is IT Westcoastscot, the latest incarnation of the tougher threads without the word tough in it because that was causing some problems. We decided to hang out on the garden fence and chat instead so pull up a space, bring your cup and if you've got any cake or bikkies bring them too and join in the party, nice to see you back xxx.

    DH is watching the football.

We went our for dinner and discovered the restaurant had karioke at 8pm. We left just before it started. I am sure the ladies at the hen night will still be enjoying it :rotfl:
