I happy to replace the decking at their expense as they were the ones who covered the decking in plastic sheeting.
Let's see where we go from here shall we.

I'd be looking for new tenants when their contract is up.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Yes, a fully functional second hand pastel shade ala 80's would be perfect here... but no. Your job is to make sure it works and nothing else. The garden is always for the tenants to upkeep. I always made sure my gardens were left as I found them. If the deck had rotted because it had been covered and you have photographic evidence of that then it's for the end of tenancy deposit to be questioned. If the decking had rotted because of wear and tear then it's not for the tenant to replace and not for the tenant to expect the LL to replace. Such is life. Wear and tear.
I have to say it sounds like your tenant is expecting you to turn the house into a new build for them! Stand your ground. You have no responsibility other than a working bath.0 -
I'm a cat lover - not a mad old cat lady with a houseful of them though and I'm not a slave to ours. I love cats, owls, hawks and ferrets - odd choice for a sweet wee old lady I know
but all three are strong self-contained & focused... and I like that. I like dogs too but after a (very short) time they start to bug me, because they are always wanting something. Wanting played with, wanting walked, wanting fed etc. Not being in any way confrontational, just wittering lol.
Re bathroom suites, my youngest once rented a gamekeepers cottage in the middle of nowhere and it had a huge deep bath - in very dark chocolate brown. His then girlfriend refused to use it as she couldn't see if there were any spiders innit :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Our first home together 1979 had an avocado bathroom suite. I thought it was soo posh.:rotfl:0

I grew up with a fetching lemon suite
I'm allowed to put a gate into my plot. I won't have to share an awkward way with he-who-no-longer-shall-be-named... DH! You're needed!0 -
When our bath started emptying more and more slowly, DS went up a ladder to see what the problem was.... and pulled a weed with a very long stem and roots out of the downpipe :eek:0

Fuddle there is a plant that cats are supposed to hate. Can't remember the name of it....something like "get- rid-of-cats-quick." No its not that and probably wouldn't work any way. Cats are quite properly dismissive of any attempt to make them do anything. They will do what they want to do, or not do what you want them to do and you can like it or do the other thing.
It is quite understandable why they were worshipped by ancient Egyptians. They have never got over being worshipped and expect it from all of their staff. However sweet and cuddly or motheaten and mangy they are, in each one of them beats the heart of a godess.
I have had cats all my life until recently and am quite accustomed to shaking out my boots before putting them on and clearing up the remains of their victims.
Speaking of animals, someone mentioned the baby elephant, sorry can't go back to find out who or I'll lose my post. Of course we have to have a baby elephant. We have to have a constant supply of replacement elephants owing to the unfortunate habit of one of our number of eating them. Mentioning no names but follow the direction of my eyes. They are pointing northwards to a certain Scottish Jelly-baby -elephant-eating monster.
Hester, price of new bathroom around the £5,000 mark, more if you want gold taps.
Price of Drain cleaning solution £2.50.
Lovely to see you Judi. We love visitors.
I am writing this from my bed, re-covering from a day in the kitchen providing lunch for the old and infirm. Some of them even older and infirmer than the cooks. I am also building up my strength for tomorrow when I have 2 x 2 mile walks. One in the morning to the dentist and one in the afternoon to have my hair cut.
Rain is forecast all day.

If I ever complete anything I have tried to do all day, well I did dust behind my Cezanne, he's still waiting for me to decide where to hang him. I may get time to look for a new flat.
If I do not succeed in finishing anything I shall go and throttle those B........ kids upstairs. Their parents must be in their is outside. Yes they have a car none of the rest of us do.
I can't very well finish vacuuming at this time of night, can I? The books are all moved.0
