I don't care if it IS the weekend, Islandmaid, I expect the bra to be on and the teeth to be in. We have standards over here you know.

OK Softstuff, who was it who asked tenderly about your health only a couple of days ago? Who has been roaming around the threads in the small hours keeping your place warm? Naughty? I think not. Angelic? You bet.

MMF, I had to laugh at your tale of the passed on car park ticket.
I lived for over 40 years in an upmarket commuter town in Surrey. The place bristled with stockbrokers, barristers and multi-millionaires. As you can guess, I fitted in like a sore thumb, but people were very kind.
It was the custom in our town car park to pass on car park tickets that still had unexpired time on them, to people newly arrived. It was a godsend if you were only popping into the supermarket for a couple of items.
The CP owners soon twigged that they were losing money and took draconian measures to stamp it out. From then on the tickets were passed on with a nod, a wink and a surreptitious palming of tickets from one hand to another. We turned into a town of spivs overnight.

Millie had me up at 5 o'clock this morning. No point in trying to go back to sleep so the HWbottle has been refreshed, coffee made and I'm back in bed catching up on the Winter Olympics which I have quite successfully ignored up till now.

    THOUGHT FOR SUNDAY

    Let us feed the hungry,
    house the homeless,
    stop the killing
and provide medicine for the sick.
When we have accomplished that, we can sit around and argue about religion.
I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.

    Hello softstuff :D

It takes about 2 weeks to get a deposit back from private renting. It's a ludicrous situation based on the checking out inventory, LL/letting agent communication and then releasing it from the holding company. While a deposit is protection for the LL's investment that doesn't help the person who needs the money to put down for another deposit in preparation for being evicted or choosing to move on. It also doesn't help when the rogue landlord wants to take the whole lot to replace a cracked mirrored sliding wardrobe door that was cracked before we moved in. Remember that? That held my deposit back weeks while I took bullying tactics from him and fought it. He didn't get the money in the end but we were living in our new home for about 6 weeks before we got our deposit back.

Heck you've caught me in stressful mode and now I'm grumbling about the past! Stop fuddle woman, just stop!

It's just I've been up doing my case for the school appeal tomorrow. I've pulled the admission authority's case apart as much as I can and all that is written down but I want to talk to the panel about DD and how the distance situation effects her. I may choke though. I'm better at writing, speaking just has me quivering and a lot of this stuff is very emotional as it is. Add in my over reacting heart rate that kick starts a panic over the drop of a hat. Oh man, why do I get myself into these scrapes? I'm a fighter until I have to fight, then I regret sticking my head above the parapet because I can't cope!

    Grumble, grumble, grumble...

    Morning monna. Xx

MMF, I thought parking could be dear here, but 4 quid an hour takes the michael. Great you got a bit of good luck there.

Monna, I apologise profusely. Obviously I saw the tarnish on your halo and didn't realise you'd just run out of brasso. I'll pop some in the mail forthwith :D I've missed you.

Fuddle, fingers crossed for the appeal, keep breathing, you can do it, you're tough.

Fuddle, write down your words, and have a copy for each panel member. Tell them you have written it as it obviously has an emotional impact on you and you want the situation to be clearly understood :)

Gosh Fuddle, I'd forgotten about the cracked mirror in the house of horror, I have always been fixated on the damp and mould and the creepy landlord.
Do what Floss said and give a copy of what you want to say to everyone tomorrow. They can then ask you questions about the situation. It's much easier to answer questions and if there is ever a case of, "You didn't tell us that," you will have the proof to hand. Be thinking of you.

Hold the Brasso Soft stuff. Whatever makes you imagine that I would settle for a brass halo? Gold, matey. Pure gold. Think on.
    I've missed you too.

  • Ok, I've heard that some people are casting aspidistras at th cleanliness of my boat and my laugh, so I'm here to defend my self!

SoftS, lovely to have you back, huge hugs to NM, Mum, MMF and Mar.

Fuds I had to go to appeal to get my dd into the school of my choice, !!!!!!! nightmare, I was lucky, someone was very disparaging about me not realising I was in the room. Set my back up and I went into Lady Bracknell mode, mind you I still think she only got in because I discovered some very underhand dealings going on. I threatened publicity and I got my school of choice.
    Underestimate me at your peril!
I think it come of being a shortarzz, my DD's are very like me, like the line from Midsummers Night Dream, ' she be little but fierce,'
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Oh Lordy!!! If Mar is feeling more like herself please would the keeper recall that Hefferlump PDQ as I remember with great anguish what happened to the original pachyderm when it went to Scotlandshire and then was.........never seen again !!!
  • And there's me abandoning my post half finished, but CHS called me from the shower, not being one to ignore the blandishments of a naked man I rushed to see what he wanted. To my great disappointment he has pulled a muscle in his back and needed assistance to get out of the shower!

We are all trembling Mrs LW at the thought of Mar feeling more like herself, there won't be a jelly baby safe anywhere north of Watford.

And that plant pot I'm sat on with my bare bum, I thought it was a composting toilet, they are all the rage now on boats.
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Morning all
Mar feeling better, good ! Although I have squirreled away my Jelly babies tout suite :rotfl:.
We had a earthquake yesterday afternoon so I think the hefferlump maybe here somewhere abouts, stamping it's foot saying "Not Mar, nooooooooo " :rotfl:Sorry may have had a tad too much cough medicine last night ! I'll get my coat..........
Hester as my old Mum used to say "be careful you don't get piles sitting on a cold surface " :D
Sending healing thoughts to the poorly, hugs and virtual support to all that are in need.
