No need to feel guilty Ivyleaf everyone's allowed a wobble
Meanwhile I've been meaning to respond to your hair posts . It's been at the back of my mind and I kept getting distracted .
I had a chat with youngest - trained stylist - Her advice is only condition every now and then . As she and I both feel pain both washing and conditioning we have a strategy .
She uses Argan oil spray very sparingly on damp hair very sparingly before drying . She has long hair .
I have just below my chin bob and find the Argan a bit heavy for me . I use a leave in spray . Always was Boots Coconut leave in conditioner spray . Went to get one last Friday and they seem to have stopped selling it . I've bought the OGX coconut water weightless hydration oil spray from Boots so will update on how that seems .
Potters also make a leave in conditioner spray which we've used in the past and it worked well . Couldn't see it on the high st on Friday but is online from a number of sources .
polly:)It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
Ivyleaf That should have said Palmer's ! That's me writing a list and typing at the same time . I got my cough mixture mixed up with the spray .

It's good they are going to see you soon ivyleaf, I'm sure you will be fine.
I use argon oil (Avon) every couple of days, works better than conditioner but I do use that every fortnight or so.
Just had 2 of the neighbours/friends in for coffee and a pancake, very civilised. Only 2 more weeks and all that will be finished as the school term starts again on 14 Aug.0 -
No need to feel guilty Ivyleaf, the injections sound worse than they actually are, and if you feel nervous speak to your Dr, see what he can suggest.Chin up, Titus out.0

Thanks so much pollyanna :A I'm not able to condition very often either, but sometimes lately I've been using the aussie miracle moist shampoo and that doesn't seem too hard on my scalp and leaves my haiir nice and soft. I've managed to go back to the lower dose of omeprazole too, so hopefully that will help. I had my hair washed and cut last week and the stylist commented that not much had come out when she washed it
Best wishes to you and your DD xx
Hester, Yes, I'll do that. I might go later this week, just in case the hospital offers me an earlier appointment.
ETA I've got a dental appointment presently too, for "crown prep" and a large filling. It's all a bit too full-on this week!0 -
I'm not going to say "you will be fine" ivyleaf because the thought of eye surgery makes me nervous. I don't like to think about it. I will need mine doing at some time but I don't think my eyes have altered in the last seven years since an optician told me I had cataracts. I will be thinking about you.
I feel your disappointment at not being able to give up glasses. I have always bought the ones that show up the least, like clear frames or very thin gold rims. Now that glasses are fashionable, I went for a pair of deep purple ones. Ever since complete strangers have been walking up to me and saying "I do like your glasses." Embrace the fashion.0 -
Ooh nursemaggie I love the sound of those!
As I'm so shortsighted I've ended up this time with what must have been the smallest adult-size frames in the shop, though they are pretty (tortoiseshell outside, lilac inside) and I love the "chunkiness" of them, but it will be nice to be able to have bigger ones. I think I'll have these reglazed as prescription sunglasses, as they're ray-ban frames. Poor OH only bought them for me last month too, as we thought I'd have a long wait for my surgery, But I am looking forward to being able to see better.0 -
Afternoon all,
I'm not all caught up as we've been away visiting mum and dad. I did see Burtha's news and all I can offer is hugs, a cuppa or a stiff drink as needed.
Dad is doing considerably better and things are easier for mum now that the wheelchair etc. are sorted. Things are still tough though, but it feels more manageable. She has about a month before her term starts.
I technically start work tomorrow so I'll be working from home to get ready for term and still doing a bit of pottering in my breaks. I want to put a few more meals in the freezer and wash all of the jumpers and cardigans and little things like that before term starts. OH has tested the heating today and it seems we'll need someone out. One valve leaks and one rad won't turn out, otherwise it seems fine and we'll certainly cope. I've just been cutting the grass today--much easier going now we've done it once although the rotary mower is still a workout! It took me about 90 minutes so I think I can justifiably skip the gym seeing as I went Sunday. We've had leftover aubergine traybake for lunch and OH is making a recipe from the healthy edition of the tesco magazine a few months ago--nacho bowls made with pinto beans and lots of salsa. The first batch of laundry is on the clothes horse. It did get 2 hours on the line before we got a bit of rain. It is sunny again so may drag it outside.
Ivy--I love the sound of your glasses. It is almost time for a new test for me and I want new frames but always have only a few choices as my face is quite small so I need a petite frame. The youth ones sometimes work but not always and the women's frames are often just far too big to stay on even with adjusting. I'd love tortoiseshell with purple--I'll look out for them. I'd love Nursemaggie's but I have a 'young' face and get mistaken for a student frequently (and even more annoyingly have to show ID to buy drinks even though I'm 34--my only ID is a passport which I don't carry with me) so I try to have more serious specs. Given I have a fair few sprigs of gray in my hair these days I hope in a few more years that will be less of a worry. It is always embarrassing for the students when they start talking to me as if I'm one of them only to realize I'm the lecturer! I know many think I should be pleased to look young, but really I've earned these 34 years--I want credit for them!0 -
Afternoon
Still not got the keyboard working properly so I"ll use quotes in place of an apostrophe because I simply feel better putting something there! :rotfl:
Talk of glasses, both OH and I need new ones. I think I may well need varifocal types this time and possibly OH too. It has been too long since the last eye exam/glasses and they were expensive then, so we"re thinking of getting them as our Christmas gifts for each other. A bit daft maybe, but we would both really enjoy being able to see properly so good gifts, lol.
Things are currently quiet on the IL front, MiL is set to be back to work (she is 83) Wed or Thu after 2 weeks off from her fall. We"ll see how it goes (lol at the quotes). Right now I am about to try meal planning again, hoping to cut back on wastage as it drives me round the bend.0 -
FPk, when I was choosing frames this time, the dispenser had a rummage and found a teen frame she'd thought might be ok for me, but it was too narrow. Shame, as it was only £30! I can't remember what colour it was, but I remember it was pretty. I must admit I like my torty/lilac ones so much I keep taking them off to look at them
(only when safely sitting down, I hasten to add.)
I tried a pair of Joules ones with multicoloured arms, I really liked them as well but they weren't so suitable for the lenses I needed. Might try them again next time though!
Petula Varifocals are brilliant! I'm so glad someone invented them!
I'm not long back from the dentist having had work done at bottom left and top right, so I now have slurred speech and look just as if I've had a stroke! As I said to Lyn, if I'd fallen over on the way home they'd have whisked me straight to A & E  Hopefully it won't take too long to wear off.0
