Funny old day, not feeling myself at all since being signed off work. Had to force myself to go to my hair appointment this morning & couldn't face doing a supermarket shop. Came home & lounged around, made supper and now I'm ready for bed! Got to give myself a shake tomorrow as I desperately need to go and get an outfit for a wedding on the 22nd, not looking forward to the shopping or the wedding ha!
Anyway, tomorrow is another day!
JxIt will take you time to adapt to the new situation it's a change to yout normal. Al least you made it to your hair appointment . The.world wont end if you do your shopping on another day and if you're really struggling you can order your shopping online for delivery.Don't call it lounging around it sounds as though you need time to rest and your body is telling you to go to bed and get that rest.Shopping for the outfit will get that task done and out of your head so you'll have it done and dusted and wont be dreading it.Baby steps and one thing at a time is the way to prevent feeling overwhelmed, Pacing yourself and dealing with one thing at a time is the way to go making sure you eat and get sleep and being kind to yourself will help you feel more like yourself again.I often used to say to myself tomorrow is another day. That Scarlett O'Hara quote has lasted over the years and each day is new start.Pollyanna Whittier used to say it's a whole new day with nothing written on it yet as she played the glad game finding something positive even in a bad situation. My username is my childhood nickname.. I'd discovered the Pollyanna books in the childrens library read them all and decided to play the glad game.I remember my mum taking a lovely lamb casserole out of the oven one day, she dropped it and the pyrex dish broke. She was staring at the mess and our intendedmeal and I said Now how can we play the glad game and find the positive in this?My dad muttered I think you'd better go to your room and read a book while I help clear up this mess .Looks like fish and chips from the chip shop for us tonight. I carried on playing the glad game and when I was trying to think of a user name when I was joining MSE my youngest said it has to be Pollyanna mum you wont forget that.pollyx
Been shopping and got a dress for the wedding, even asked the assistants opinion whilst modelling it in the changing rooms! (Then realised I'd not shaved my legs, she's probably scarred for life haha). It's not really flashy or fancy but I like it and it felt "right" as soon as I out it on & I think I'll wear it again after the wedding so I'm happy with it! Keep telling myself that the wedding isn't about me & if people don't like what I'm wearing it's their problem not mine!
Also popped to Asda to get things for meals as I was running low, only bought what was on the list so all good!
Absolutely shattered now, going to pop some gammon in SC then chill for a bit I think.

Hello @MrsFarmer19 nice to see you!
As Polly says, you're in a new phase, so just take time out to rest and get used to your new way of living. Maybe you could write a plan of what you want to do over the next few weeks to give some structure to your time.
I've started my Christmas countdown journal this week. It's based on the Flylady's plan to have things done by 1st December. I've done it for a few years now and it takes a lot of stress out of things for me.
The Dormeo mattress topper is a big hit here. I've had to buy deeper fitted sheets, but it was worth it. It's very comfortable and DH is sleeping so much better. I wasn't sure if it would be because it has bumpy pockets, but you don't feel them. It wasn't cheap but I think it was worth the money.#33 Saving for Christmas 20235 -

The beds here already have deeper fitted sheets as bedsteads are wider than standard divans and the mttresses are deeper and slighly wider than a standard double.I've just put the milk bottle out before I forget. The pavement is very sparkly so a frost on the way. We need to put our heads together and figure out this hibernation lark. Crack that and we could be billionaires Rodders.Mr Badger in Brambly Hedge is the only one who lives in a sort of house but he's quite grumpy and more exposed to the elemants as he wanders around in winter.Mr Toad of course lives in a Manor House but our Mr Toad here has put me off Toads for life especially ones with parp parp horns and cravats.Back to the drawing board methinks.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

JxI'm sure you feel happier having found the perfect dress so quickly and it's one you'll love wearing after the wedding. You're right other people have no business judging what others are wearing. The focus is meant to be on the bride and groom. Quite a positive day there getting your shopping and turning the slow cooker on. You'll have eaten well got some must do tasks out of your head and should sleep tonight. There's a saying the longest journey starts with the first step. You took a nunber of steps. Stay with us always glad to have a new friend on the fence. You should sleep well tonight.pollyx

Polly if I'm Rodders does that make you Del?!
I worked out a solution to the front door curtain. DH couldn't move the curtain pole down because of the type of pole and type of wall. The curtain hasn't got enough fabric in the hem to let it down far enough to reach the floor, so I've been wracking my brain how to fix it. I cut some lengths of ribbon, threaded through the rings on the pole and hung the curtain from the ribbons. It fits just fine now!!!😁#33 Saving for Christmas 20233 -

It fits just fine now!!!😁Oh I don't want to be Del Boy he was a wide boy not a very successful one but one all the same trying to offload some very iffy goods on the unsuspecting public and making use of poor innocent RoddersDel boys efforets to appear a successful man of enterprise very sophisticated used to make me laugh. The scene where he'd ordered some sort of cocktail and was boasting of his successes while about the lean against the bar flap agian had me roaring with laughter as he disappeared through the space where the bar flap should be but a member of staff had raised it . His attempts to claim he knew and it was a deliberate action made things even funnier . I think we need different alter egos when we crack the hibernation lark.It did remind me our Mr Toad who normally rebuilt classic cars to sell on to those who shared his love of classic cars once had a Reliant Regal among the cars on the drive . just like Del Boys. he assured me it was a classic car. I was doubtful about that in the 60s but I looked it up this morning and it is now a classic car. Still no idea about then as I never saw one on the roads just Mr Toads. That's a really clever soluition to the front door curtain problem. I'd read a post from you about curtain poles and door curtains . You'd mentioned a door with a little alcove near it which seemed to be a back door so I was wondering if one of those expanding curtains poles would do the job and cover both or whether you used the alcove for storage . i got distracted and forgot to reply.Todays news. I found the Spider. It's cold and frosty here today so I decided to get moving and give the bathroom a deep clean.Rather than carry the Shark Rocket upstairs I decided Henry in his usual place on the landing could do the floor. Looking around i noticed a few signs of what could be cobwebs being created high on the walls. Rather than fetch the Shark which can reach very high places I have a very handy thing I bought years ago online. its like a mop or brush handle but thinner and light to hold. There is a large V shape thing on the bottom with a detachable V shape microfibre cloth. The head swivels so it;s esy to access all areas and I;ve used it on both walls ceilings and floors over the years and the cloths are replacable. It;svery disability friendly like my Ecloth mop .So the bits of cobwebs were dealt with I;d cleaned the bathroom including the floor and had a duster in my hand about to polish the taps and other chrome bits when a spider began to emerge from the wash basin overflow, I was joking when I said the spider must have escaped down a plughole in the bathroom but it was emerging from the overflow which isn't a very big hole.I still had the duster in my hand so managed to knock it on to that while throwing the window above the sink open and shook it out in to the great outdoors. It's horribly cold outside but I'm hoping it;s learned it's lesson and gone away to stay away. It could move in with Neighbourhood Watch that would teach it.pollyx

Hester is still posting on her blog.4

A family member, adult, is getting the dolls house/miniatures hobby.
She's right at the start of this new journey and i wondered if any of you, on this subforum, had/have any enlightenment/words of wisdom for someone starting out, with nothing other than a needlefelt mouse she's bought herself !
TheOldThreadHouse - Etsy UK
This mouse is 12cm high and a lot of the miniature houses-sections are clearly for smaller occupants ....
I thought i'd ask on here, she's not a forum or joining person hence me doing it - but i can't be of any help to her because it's not my thing....
Any thoughts ??First, take responsibility .....3 -
Sorry I missed your post Annie . I'd wandered off to put a casserole in the oven, really cold here now i have the dumplings ready to add. I didn't notice your post but have now. It's nice to know people are still following Hester she is nearer family now but often seemed very isolated on the boat. When she hadmade curtains for Chocolate the first boat I recognised the fabric as it's one I'd used myself and we had a long chat about the wonders of Dunelm, That fabric was less than it's normal half price so I bought a lot of it.It's years since I've been there. Last time I was looking for thermal blackout and lining fabric they had both but the sales assistant pointed me to a special offer really good thick cotton curtains in a neutral shade with blackour and thermall linings . Less than half the price of the linings I was about to buy. I was a bit dubious at the very low price but knowing I could return them for a refund if they weren't suitable I bought a pair for all the windows except the bathroom and kichen. Back then I was very organised and kept a notebook in my bag with the measurements of all sorts of things including windows. It was very MSE, All the right size and good at what I bought them for and saved hours at the sewing machine. Sometime next week I'll be changing the curtains for them. The weather really seems to be getting colder and windier now.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Polly, I liked the Batman and Robin episode best. I think I would like to be Wonderwoman, but I'd be more like Bella Emberg's version from Russ Abbott's show!!!😆😆😆
DD used to dress up in her red wellies and bathing costume with her skipping rope around her waist to be Wonderwoman!
All the spiders we've ever had were called Fred. I did that when the girls were little so they wouldn't be frightened of them.
I remember Hester posting. I liked her talks about the waterways. Glad she's ok.
The back door is in a sort of recess so I need to have a think on how to put a curtain up. A tension rod could work but I don't know if it would stay up when we open the door.#33 Saving for Christmas 20232
