Now that's a good one Doveling. Our Mar loves her heritage and treasurs her roots. I can hear Rod Stewart singing now.Perhaps we're close to the final taming of the Ming. She seemed fine as Mardatha then someone misread her name and used to call her Madarthur thiings were never the same after that.pollyxETA Anyone ever built a tower? She's bound to want a tower. It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Lurker's thoughts here: Blooming Heather is apt, romantic, slightly eerie (?purple)
I also like the gnome, but we have a large plastic owl on our fence, we hoped to frighten the squirrels off the bird feeder with it, some hope! they leapfrog over it at speed. That might appeal, as in 'The wise old owl sat in the oak, the more he saw the less he spoke...the less he spoke the more he heard...'
Perhaps a bit ominous...

MingVase said:I'm exploring my options.Well ok I'm eating ice cream. But thinking hard. You sound like Fagin in the musical version of Oliver. I'm reviewing the situatiom .....Now you have no doubt wiped out all the ice cream have you come to a decision yet?The Scottish lassie sounds good or I could knit a gnome there must be Jean Greenwood or somone elses Gnome patterns on line.It has occurred to me you could get rather wet standing in the garden on rainy days so I thought tiny wellies and an umbrella. Then we could build you a tiny house. TBH that idea got too complicated and I've ditched it.I could supply lots of heather for a wee scottish lassie and I'm pretty sure we could build you a tower if burtha would agree to climb up and do the high bits. I do have thyme but I don't think it's the wild mountain type. Totally stumped on where to come by a clear crystal fountain though..pollyx

It's hard to fool a squirrel SL. The reds near here survived for a long time on their wits before they became protected.I have a very soft spot for Owls and wish I had a £ for every time I've read that poem to my own children or pupils. I often watch them watching us and they really do seem full of wisdom either sitting in a tree or flying at night. So serene while we panic about silly things.I'm beginning to wonder if Mar has fallen asleep. She usually reinvents herself quickly.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Sorry but all I can think of now is the film Gnomeo and Juliet!!4

I've had to look up Gnomeo and Juliet mehefin. I'd never heard of it which is odd because i always liked Elton John. Was anyone here a fan of the 80s? I wasn't for a number of reasons. it seemed a time when there was some rubbish music and terrible clothes around.I have vivid memories of my eldest dd then in her early teens dancing in front of the tv wearing a little Wham Tshirt and muttering The Jitterbug as she sang and danced along. The only song I didn't mind was Last Christmas due to all the Snow. When George went solo I really liked Turn a Different Corner, That was interesting what if you had taken another road and your life had taken a different path.I was watching our regional news tonight and discovered our local Arts Centre is hosting an exhibition of everything 80s. Looking at it now there were some terrible clothes and a lot of poor music back then. I think my generation had a better deal in the 60s and 70s with original Biba and Laura Ashley. I still have some of those skirts and dresses.Music was from many places including America and i liked a lot of American exports. Just because you were from the NW didn't mean you were a fan of the Beatles. I only liked two songs and they were written by John Lennon. It looks as though Mar has gone to bed.. Man U have just kicked off so I'm off to watch the match.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Not gone to bed but been zonked in the chair. I think I'll have to reinvent meself as a dormouse at this rate.Wild Mountain Thyme was one of my dad's favourites, he used to play it on the fiddle. I liked the Corries version. But I don't really fancy being planted on a wet wild windy moor - just got out after 30 years living on one. I want 5* bedding, fluffy white bathrobes, complimentary Moulton Brown and as much ice cream and pavlova as I can eat. Think I'll just need a good lottery win and then I can move into Gleneagles. You lot can all kiss my spa slippers.6
