Don't give her ideas mehefin we did the Ming dynasty and it did not go well. She had a sudden idea to go on spying duties on behalf of the nation in a certain house in London. There she sat on an ornate table watching and listening. However they called the Decorators in and the eyewatering wallpaper finally defeated her. She's never been the same since then  and invented different Mings each one worse than the previous one..

She now wishes to go back to the old days but we can't encourage her do that it took far too long to rehabiltate her afterwards . Sometimes you can go back sometimes not. It can help give you clarity and see where and why things went wrong. I suspect she misses the heffalumps and every thing else from that chaotic time.
Any ideas for a new Ming who could change her name if she wished. She's a dab hand at that and changing Avaters.           that's reminded me of the Big Brother is watching you eyes that greeted us one day.
Somebody try and come up with ideas. She's tired of being a Ming vase so that can change. Should stop the dust and polish demands now she's grown bored staniding her little Niche on the Fence.

A gnome would go with the fence (not one of the rude ones).

  • Start searching the old grey matter.monna. There has to be an answer to how do we solve a problem like the Ming. That could be from the sound of music but it doesn't quite sound right.

I'm okay. Did lots yesterday and was very tired when I got back to the bungalow. Had a plan to sort lots of little bits of paper but mostly didn't happen. After the vicar and my niece left I just gathered food supplies (made a brief stop in little Arseda on the way back from the DSS) and just read and watched Call the Midwife.

Wasn't great this morning. My leg was dreadfully painful, knew I'd used the last of the pills that were in my handbag, by my bedside and by my chair and was hunting around for where else they might be. They were kept in one of the 2 working drawers in the 5 drawer broken set but I scooped them up and put them in a small box before DS2 took them outside to be broken up and taken to the tip. So hobbling around feeling very sorry for myself and they took a while to kick in when I found them after examining the contents of several small boxes.

Wanted a hug but couldn't find Goth Bunny (DS3 lent him to me for when I need a cuddle). Settled for putting my dressing gown on (it hugs me rather than me hugging something else), then ate, showered and dressed (wet my hair but forgot to shampoo). Put perfume and a clean dress on (not smelly but have worn the other for a couple of days).

Planned easy food for today so don't need to think about it later. The jewellery had been taken out and bagged in several categories but then got buried under tons of bedding (which has been in the under bed drawers all the 5 years mum has been here) so got rid of all that and could find the jewellery again. I don't want or need it and handing over responsibility for that to my niece was a great help (I can delegate).

A lot of the photos belong to my cousins (only one uncle left), mum's lodger, my dead brother's ex gf and her grandchildren (they called him grandad - her husband ran away when their children were small). A lot from church (will take them to church when I go to the Sunday after the funeral service along with little keepsakes for mum's friends. Some photos will go to the church memorabilia - photos of mum holding one of the banner 'leading strings' to one of the banners at Walking Day and another with my grandmother and her friend also a walking day. Sorting through photos is an easy job when I'm having a break from other jobs (as my uncle said 'after they've gone, you just remember the good times) and having them in sections and handing them over after the funeral saves loads of time (and money) later on.

My dad died and was buried in mid- November 2003 and I took time out to write all my Christmas cards to save posting/ hand delivering later (a couple of aunts did the same). I got married in September 1987 (now an international day of mourning) and had all my partner's family's Christmas presents (and the dinner service that was his brother's engagement present) wrapped ready for them to take home with them (you don't want to know about the previous year, heavily pregnant and struggling with a toddler, nappy bag, pushchair and clothing and a partner who'd spent all day acting as dj at work and being liberally supplied with alcohol).

Have had a plateful of fruit loaf toast that was easy, warm, filling and comforting so will have a wander and look for easy to get rid of things (including the pile of washed foil containers  mum was saving).

I do like Ming the Merciless rather than a MIng Vase, maybe its because I imagine the Kenneth Williams impersonation...... ;)

Looks as though you didn't witness Mar the merciless at her worst Silva. She had an image of Ming the Merciless staring back at us  and it wasn't Kenneth Williams!

I quite like MNs idea of a gnome. Surely we could cope with a little garden gnome near our fence. Rather than a shouty Ming in her niche.. I don't  i admit know a lot about gnomes but we could give iit a try. Mind you she'd probably appear as Godzilla the gnome with appropriate image to stare at us.
