When I was first married to the ex my BiL had a small side business dealing with Hayfield Wools. He ran a wool club where you could have all the wool you needed to complete the garment at once and pay for it weekly. I used to deliver and collect the money for lots of his customers. At the time I was working as a telephonist receptionist in a small gatehouse on my own so I could knit and crochet to my heart's content! I don't knit now but do occasionally crochet baby shawls or blankets.
I do use Zoflora Hyacinth, a cap full now and again in Ptraps when we go away and a capful in my steamer when I do the floors in the kitchen, dining room and utility. TBH I wasn't aware it was toxic to animals 😱😱I don't remember wool clubs but remember my mum and aunties "putting away" wool in the 50s and 60s. They'd tell the woman in the wool shop how much they needed for a cardigan or whatever and buy a few ounces. She would put the remainder of the required amount in a bag in the little cubby holes marked with their name and they'd pick the rest up as when they could afford it.I did the same myself in the early 70s knitting for the newborns. It was a red letter day when my husband a railway fireman passed out as a train driver and I could afford all the wool in one go.Hayfield is also a familiar name both mum and I knitted with that.Have you ever read winwick mums blog? She knits and crochets and has free patterns. There are also free beginners sock tutorials handy as we face what looks like a bleak winter. And many other free patterns. Knitting and crochet. In 2016 she did a tour of the Sirdar factory and showroom during the Knit Now Awards and described that and posted pics over 2 blog posts. It took me back down memory lane. You may already be familiar with her but for any interested just google winwick mum blog and you'll see Knit Now Awards, those posts are much viewed so always come up quickly on a search.pollyx

I haven't forgotten you MandM90.I'll do a post about safe essentail oils for pregnancy, babies and children for cleaning purposes, room scenting etc also natural cleaning products. Many people use the oils for baby and children massage. I have never done that. It's a personal choice but I err on the safe side. My youngest dd was found to have food intolerences as a baby and went on to develop all sorts of allergies so my essential oils were confined to cleaning and room scenting. She ok now using Lavender oil on her temples for headaches etc but like me mainly uses them around the home.I'll post tomorrow if the paws are working. Typing with one finger today!pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Thanks Polly! For baby skin I stuck to sweet almond oil last time as I believe that's quite a neutral carrier oil? Can you tell I'm clueless?6

Morning all .
20 mins to catch up with you all today . thankfully I'm on a weeks holiday, as everything is still a bit full on .
my little dog had a operation last week and is now on the mend , just waiting for lab results back .
and youngest dd is moving into student halls today . although we are only 10mile from university.
think she will be here 3 days out of 7 depending on her mental health .
hope everyone is ok .
I don't normally watch the news , but looking at the headlines it's all abit yuck still .
think I'll go back to head in the sand and worrying about just my little world instead .
the world I'm sure will cope .

Can you make the pit a bit bigger, @burtha please? Some days I want the world to slow down a bit so I can catch up!
I'm sure that your daughter will be fine once she gets used to uni life. I worried about ours when they were at uni but they came through it stronger for their experiences. Now DD1 is a senior teacher and DD2 is waiting for results for her accounting exams! When younger daughter was at primary school she was very worried about going to secondary school because she didn't know all her times tables! Now look where she is. 😊 ( proud Mum emoji not available!)2025 Fashion on the ration
