What I'd like to know is how one can go to bed with a whisker-free chin and awake with half a dozen hairs about half an inch long?! And why do they all grow from a 54 year old scar from falling off a (banned) trapeze bar on a childhood climbing frame?2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Thank you, nargleblast, for your explanation. I think it is good to try to understand what others believe, even if you don't believe it yourself. It fosters a spirit of tolerance at the very least and hopefully acceptance of the fact that you can still be friends and civil to each other. Personally I think this is how we as a society have created an 'us and them' mentality in some areas of our inner cities, by not learning about the ways and customs of others.

Left to its own devices my chin would sport a neat little goatee, my top lip isn't too bad though.
I'm struggling to sleep because of the heat, access the boat is basically a poorly insulated metal tube, I did drop off, only to be awakened by a noise. Beano didn't react so I knew is wasn't an intruder, turns out of was the Co2 alarm, it had fallen off the wall. We use the command strips as they don't leave marks when they are removed. Unfortunately they do have a tendency to fall off as the walls get so warm.Chin up, Titus out.7 -
Mrs CD, there is always a soapbox by the Fence for people to use when sharing ideas and information. You are absolutely right, I believe some Indian mystic once said there is only one mountain top but many paths to get up there.
Belief is all in the heart and mind, you cannot wag a disapproving finger at someone just because their beliefs differ from yours. I am so glad we live in a secular country where although there is an "official" religion i.e. a branch of Christianity known as the Church of England, it is accepted that there are many different faiths and people are encouraged to follow and practise what feels right to them. Imagine living in a country where it was mandatory to openly follow the State-approved religion, just as bad as living in one of the Communist countries years ago where practising any religion was virtually a crime!
We are all one race - the human race. Ideally we should all follow the same principles in life - do no harm to others and accept our differences whilst celebrating our similarities. One life - your life - live it!12 -
Nargle agree, and would add that it is good that as adults we can choose which, if any, faith route we wish to take, without any being unduly encouraged upon us.
I think I slept about 6 hours in 3 chunks, I know it was 24 degrees at 9.30pm, and I don't think it dropped much below that all night. The fan was just moving warm air around 😕. Anyway, am off to work today where the climate control system will be struggling due to windows being opened across the hospital 🙄.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Morning all.
I'm trying not to read the hairy stories. I have luxuriant hair on every part of my body except my head, where my scalp gleams proudly through. It's a constant battle to get rid of it from legs and face and desperately trying to encourage it on the top of my head. Imagine a hairy Michelin Man. No don't! You probably haven't had breakfast yet.
I'm having a break today. No opening a cupboard and finding yet another 50 handbags. Instead I'm having my haircut and doing a Tesco trip. I'm not good in hot weather and can't wait for the evenings to start drawing in. As I've always said, I must have been a mole in some previous existence.
Religions fascinate me. The various ways in which humans try, and have tried since the dawn of time, to impose some order on a chaotic existence are as different as they are interesting.
I am a Christian, though some so-called Christians that I have met give a totally wrong impression of what Christianity is all about. The 'church' has a lot to answer for.
I believe that there is a deep need for spirituality in everyone and how we chose to find it depends on so many factors that it is hardly surprising that there are so many religions in existence.
Mutual respect and tolerance seems to be missing from most of them, hence all the wars being fought in the name of 'religion'.
This is pretty heavy stuff for first thing on a Monday morning. Sorry.
Right! Breakfast to be eaten, shower to be taken, hair to be cut, Tesco to be foraged.....it's all go!
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Kindness and love towards all creatures. That is the true religion. (Buddha)I believe that friends are quiet angels

Lovely thought for today @monnagran. Good luck with the haircut and foraging!9

Wow, what a range of conversation - true garden fence. So lovely to see it thriving again.
Lemme see, we've had the true British "Phew wot a scorcha", hairy legs (and other bits) and religion! I get my bits waxed (eyebrows, upper lip, bikini and backs of legs) and shave my pits and lower legs. I also have my eyebrows tinted. Wax and tint cost me just under £20 every 6 weeks and is worth every penny for me. The only thing i missed in lockdown was my eyebrows as home tints don't work very well. I could attend to hairiness myself and, as i have long hair, i didn't miss the hairdresser that much.
I agree, Monna, some i've known along the way who call themselves Christian were anything but. One would stab you in the back while looking you in the eye and saying "I'm here to help, you know that". Religion world wide has a lot to answer for, with most a long way from the majority of religion's core message. I find churches dark and gloomy; i resent that people were made to sacrifice the little they had to build them (though i accept that many liked to know they contributed to something that would be left behind). I like being in nature, i find that rather spiritual - up a hill, in a forest, by a stream. I can revel there in whoever or whatever created it all.
I love the heat, love it. I dread the winter as i hate (in truth, i am a little afraid of) being cold. I struggle in September knowing that dark nights are happening and it's getting colder; that we won't feel the warm sun on our skins for a long time. We've taken to going to the Canaries for a week in January, so i can be reminded that the sun is still there (though obviously couldn't go this year). One year, when i took some students to Dubai in March, i had to fight back tears when i felt the sun (though i was also jetlagged..). I might have to become a 'snowbird' (go to warmer climes for a couple of months in winter).I wanna be in the room where it happens12 -

I think you would have related very strongly to the Cathars who believed nature was God's cathedral and were persecuted and wiped out by the "system" I read a book about them about over fifty years ago and have never forgotten how it made me feel.
I also hate being cold but am not good in the heat as I get weak and wobbly so a sunny day warm enough not to need a jacket is perfect for me.

I loved your message and could not agree more.
