Those soft sugar jelly sweets in the shape of plump babiesWell, to be honest, I dont care what shape they are, they could be cats or dogs or elephants or crocodiles... as long as they taste so good, I'd manage to force them down!10

Over a number of years you have been an invisible , gentle hand on dds shoulder as she faced the fear of different appts and did it any way. Your other hand was on mine. You really are a quiet angel.polly & k.It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

lophophore! That’s predictive text for Ooph. As in ooph it’s hot. Finally cooling down a bit. I wanted to get to bed early so I can get up early to do food prep before it gets too hot. I’m making a cherry tart with pate sucree and I find it impossible to make successfully on hot days even with chilling it in the fridge. But it’s been too hot to get to sleep yet so best laid plans may well gang agley (sp?)It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!9

But it’s been too hot to get to sleep yet so best laid plans may well gang agley (sp?)It's cooled downstairs at last but upstairs still way too hot. When I was viewing houses in the mid seventies the new builds were pretty boring however here there were two choices standard or dormer, I'd never actually bought a house commonsense was saying go for the traditional style but it I had this silly oh it reminds me of Heidi's Grandfathers house. Remembered Heidi snuggling up in the hay and signed on the dotted line.So learned dormer windows and roofs stretched along each bedroom and bathroom wall partly over the ceiling. Hot weather too hot., Cold pretty unbearable , with frost or snow lying and rain noisy.v No idea where I conjured up the rosy image from a book I read as a child. The only comfort was Heidi probably had mice and we didn't. Hoewver birds stomp up and down from early in the morning above my head. In winter the blackbirds are bashing on the window and shouting me awake. Be careful what you wish for .I don't have predictive text gadgets. I stick to simple . I've seen Monna's words of wisdom fly into the ether. This Vanilla platform is a lot better than previous. It used to really irritate me to see a long post disappear into the unknown.Hope you can get the prep done before the heat retuns and manage to sleep. It's just turned midnight. It should be cooler upstairs now.v I've always loved the long summer days and was often in the garden until dark. Something I have realised is since the start of Covid there are times I long to be snuggled down with a good book or music. Tempted to close the curtains and hunker down. it'[s only just occurred to me I have never lived alone.I don't feel lonely or anxious. it just seems strange .I used to long for the offspring to grow up , stop trying to kill each other or wind each other up. Now it feels odd. I knew the only clock here that ticks is my Brambly Hedge China Wall Clock.I think that's been here since the late 80s. It took a virus for that tick to be audible and felt quite strange.Time for bed , the Blackbirds will be rehearsing their line dancing and shouting .They'll be starting about 4am .Sleep well all.pollyx

Apologies for reappearing after an absence and then disappearing again - RL has had me spinning an entire dinner service of plates, and the gravy boat as well!Had a "Meet'n'Greet visit for a new doggy guest, and am over the moon that she'll be here with us to celebrate Lughnassadh; and I have two more Meet'n'Greets to do during the next week. The definite one is a Boxer, the two up-and-coming ones are a Greyhound and a French Bulldog respectively. What else - oh yes, I made 6 jars of cherry jam. Not so exciting in the grand scheme and all that, but we love cherry jam.Polly you think you have problems? We have pigeons clog dancing on the bungalow roof at stoopid o'clock! If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)12

LW - so glad you're getting a new doggy guest. COuld you say a bit more about Lughnasadh? IS it pagan? I love the idea of festivals that are in tune with nature but know so little about them.
When we lived in the countryside, we often had a peacock on our roof at 5 in the morning. "Ooh lovely", you might think - but have you heard the racket a peacock makes? 😳😂😱
Today is DD's 25th birthday. You'd think it was her 5th birthday the fuss she's makingI wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
Peacocks are hellish re noisePolly I love winter, Dec is my favourite month and I quite often wish for the long dark cosy nights - not a fan of light nights at all. And up here it's light until 11.30 and again before 3am. I like the sunny days though, but they're just too long!9
