ok , so far I'm running up to the north east of Scotland and down to the isle of white.... with a bit of running on water thrown in
anybody else want to suggest where I visit on route , may just be somewhere you have been before and wanted to go back to... or somewhere you have always wanted to go...
I like a challenge
...
and I'm sure the elephant can help with the running on water if I start to train him now .....

OK. Here we go.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Look at you! Being kind of awake and stuff.
You are reading words and probably aren't even stabbing ANYONE right now.
You deserve a coffee, you magnificent little sunbeam!I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.16 -
I live in North West England if it's any help Burtha (it breaks it up a bit). I've seen quite a bit of the Northeast, the Lake district and both sides of the Pennines and would love to see more - we could break that down into stages. I was looking at a cottage on one of the Shetland Isles a few years ago (very basic but only £45,000) with a little bit of land around it (and a great big metal workshop/ industrial shed thing dominating the landscape). Kept going back online to look but eventually accepted that I need to be in reasonable travelling distance of doctors and various health facilities, due to age and general decrepitude. Rather than travelling to the furthest north point of Scotland, getting the ferry (or titchy aeroplane if weather conditions permit) to Shetland and then the little boat (bus service on water) that goes between the islands. Clincher was that there was no diy/ garden outlet on the island - everything would have had to be flown/ shipped in.
Love the thought of the day. During the first few months of the lock down whenever anyone asked how mum and I were doing or when we realised that a significant number of weeks had gone by she would say "Well we haven't killed one another yet". She's hufted because her friend (went out together in their teens, they are the only two left alive out of their class at school) had been singing my praises and told her that everything I'm saying and doing are the right things to keep her safe.
Not competing Monna but I read this online the other day and thought it was worth writing down (and hopefully worth passing on).
"Can I say something about being 'kind'? True kindness isn't about smiling sweetly, appeasing and not causing a bother. True kindness is sticking your neck out and calling out injustice. It doesn't make you popular. But it does make you kind. Be furiously, ruthlessly kind."
Dr Julia Grace Patterson
I love the 'furiously, ruthlessly kind'. I hate and detest public speaking and I'm not at all good at it. But sometimes you have to speak out, on behalf of others however terrified you are (a long while ago now).My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage10 -
Thank you for re-energising this thread, I've been sitting on the fence and waiting, like Amy Pond on her suitcase in Dr Who ( and waiting for the daftness to re-start ) You all brighten my day.Burtha can I add in a trip to here, Welsh Wales. I can offer you Welsh cakes and a bunch of daffs as an incentiveMonna thanks I too missed your thoughtnanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently7
