I'll bring food. I'm trying to organise a 'sort of' party for mum who's 85 tomorrow. Basically I've thought of everyone who will be/ might be bringing a card or present tomorrow and have food. I'm aiming to move the polytunnel (the cover came off in the storm and I need to move everything before I can put it back on anyway) to the wide path at the side of the house (inside the gate and inside the side fence) so that if the weather is as fickle as it has been all week, we will have some shelter. Guests (hoping for only two at a time) will sit at the gate end, mum and I at the yard end with two large tables in between.
I've cut out A5 size letters to make a greeting, brought all the unprotected plants indooors, cut paper flower shapes from the offcuts (large ones will be used for decorating the polytunnel, small ones are to make a card). I sent a message to DS2 to ask if his gf was vegan - no but she's lactose intolerant (after a very guarded and suspicious enquiry as to why I wanted this info). I'd already had a food delivery and had a rough menu planned (going to make up individual plates/ platters for everyone who might call). So I did another order and now have lactose free milk, marg, plain and vanilla yogurt, soft cheese, block cheese, ice cream and two lots of marg. There were some things missing from the original order and I've filled up on things that didn't make it onto the shopping list.
However I seem to have gone a bit overboard (think I put down some alternatives and forgot to delete the extras) and have a surfeit of cakes, biscuits. sweets (only expecting one small boy tomorrow but mummy of twins has asked if she can visit us in our garden next week after her 4 daughters go back to school (eldest is going to high school, baby twins are doing 3 half days at nursery). My party bags are the red bags that meat is delivered in (thoroughly washed yesterday and then left out on the line in lashing rain all afternoon) with a load of gold stars glued on.
I still have to move a load of pots that are holding this side of the polytunnel down (not yet done because my back is killing me - I have run up and down the yard picking up bottles all the things I've used for growing / potting on this year and the plastic sheet I put down when I was painting pots and bins went over the line as well. Mum didn't have a sleep this afternoon so I feel way behind - I've never had so much stress from feeding so few people. I have chopped lots of raw veg and I bought some ready made items and have some things in the freezer for back up but I need you lot to help out with eating leftover food (lots of cakes and cheeses, pickles, crackers and crisps). Only got alcohol free wine (still and fizzy water, fruit juices, diet coke with or without caffeine). Don't think alcohol is forbidden for me but I have enough side effects/ complications from meds/ combinations of meds that it's simpler to do without.

Oooh, mothernerd, cakes, biscuits, cheeses, pickles, crisps.....have you met this crowd before? Dont worry about the lack of alcohol, they are well eqipped to look after that side of things themselves. I, of course am a complete teetotaller. Someone has to keep their heads.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a hot date with a hot waiter. We have plans.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Found a useful tipSelf Testing for Covid 19Pour red wine, Prosecco or champagne into a glass, then see if you can smell it.If you can, then drink it, and if you can taste it, it’s reasonable to assume you are currently free of the virus.Test yourselves a few times tonight and with luck you will be virus free each time. However you will need to test yourselves again tomorrow if you have developed a headache, which can also be a symptom. It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!6
