It wasn't a great day yesterday, I felt grumpy, was grumpy with people unnecessarily and had an argument with DH. Doesn't help that I'm feeling a bit rough, tired, blocked up nose and mouth tastes like the inside of a refuse collector's boot.
Reading that back, its really not the worst day in the world is it, it just felt like it at the time. I think I am my own worse enemy sometimes. Bala I think my inner expletive was overshadowed by a big black cloud yesterday.
Caught up on an episode of Midsummer Murders.
Argument passed over quite quickly within minimal sulking (DH)
Nice chat at work with colleagues
Planning a meet up with friends for drinks
Compliment received about some paid stuff
Quick tea with minimal clearing up
Nice warm home (well some parts)
Comfy Bed

Morning all
Pleasures for Wednesday:
Bit of a lie in; nowhere to rush to and felt tired (now I’ve reset my Fitbit to sensitive it shows how restless my “sleep” is)
Sorted old holiday paperwork and put into a spreadsheet so we can see where we went where etc and managed to recycle loads of paper - still getting sorted for the big kitchen/dining room job due to start on Monday although the structural surveyor still hasn’t been!
Large pan of spicy butternut squash soup made - yum
Visited elderly neighbour and sorted her cataract op date for when her daughter can take her
Ate the chocolate truffles that came with a Christmas present. No good for my diet but pleasure is that the are now gone so I no longer have to think about eating them!
Have a good day0 -
Loved the Dectorists Frith such a shame that MC said no to another series.
Wednesday pleasures,
Made a batch of bread in DM’s bowl and thought about how often we cooked/ baked together, do miss her everyday.
Whilst that was proving went out to the garage to fill up car, petrol gone up again, ouchie, small bar of mint Linder choc jumped into my hand in consolation.
Tidy up of cupboards and small pile of clothes ready for the CS.
Capt S texted to say meeting he had been worrying about went well.
Made a big batch of chilli, had some with cauli rice for tea and rest frozen for another day.0 -
Morning all from another early train - this one to actual work..
Hugs Lainey
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Breakfast on the train - smoked salmon and scrambled eggs
2. Walks between station and university and I caught the train home with seconds to spare
3. Meeting went … OK. They still love it, they still think it needs work but no talk of further extension :T
4. shopping - the fridge is no longer bare
5. Have some TV to catch up on and started with White House Farm
Have a good day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
HWK discharged after his operation and got home courtesy of DD1 and James (bless them) at 9ish last night.
He walked in under his own steam and although sore and uncomfortable isn't dreadfully uncomfortable in fact other than needing the loo because of liquid intake after having to abstain all day up to the op time he had a reasonable night too.
In the charity shop yesterday we were able to re-unite a mobile phone and it's owner, he'd accidentally put it on top of a box of donated books and it had fallen inside, obviously been found as the books were sorted and priced on Tuesday afternoon but not put where such items usually end up. Luckily he rang the phone from his home line after we'd firstly not found it and we tracked it down under some books on a shelf. Happiness was achieved!
I found as I unpacked and priced yesterday a pair of Gruffalo pyjamas the right size for my Oreo child.
Being back on normality yesterday with my team members in the shop, I'm a lucky woman to have such nice folks in my life.0 -
" blocked up nose and mouth tastes like the inside of a refuse collector's boot."
Supersaver you do make me laugh. When was the last time you tasted one of their boots ?

Hello. Not that long from a whole day of being out.
Just missed a bus to the city...however I then met a friend out dog walking so had a nice chat with her as I waited for the bus. Watched Holby as I journeyed.
Then went to a lovely doughnut shop and bought a lovely doughnut...for eating on the train. Just missed a train so watched some more Holby as I waited and texted DD1 doughnut shop photos.
Train. I actually do like a train journey ( though slightly disappointed that there was no ‘tickets please’ today. Continued with my watching!
Walk. Huge walk in the wind but thankfully no rain to the hospital. My auntie was in visiting mum when I arrived so that was nice to see her.
Helped a chap who looked very lost. Can I help you? Yes I could and pointed him towards the information desk.
Bombarded with much information from the full team of medics/ specialist nurses etc . I was momentarily overwhelmed and could feel tears coming and had to say I’m going to cry . Three nurses all leapt to give me a tissue.
Then had to do the texts and the phone calls and thank goodness for technology.
Went to canteen for my tea...please feel proud of my resistance to meat. Broccoli, carrots and potatoes for tea! ( though then I went and had a packet of crisps and I’m not supposed be eating them either but felt the occasion warranted a lapse!) someone else asked me for directions...to a sandwich this time! ( or where they could get one...I’m not sure but I know where you can get boiled carrots!)
Then the boyo came ( in my car and after his work) and took us home and an hours drive and I’m glad I wasn’t doing it. Dropped the mother off, brought her washing home ( her machine is broken ...a to do job tomorrow to order a new one) and instructions left to take her new medication and please don’t forget...it’s important.
And nipped into supermarket and got a few Rtc things and met a chap I worked with last year so stood and chatted to him for 5 minutes ...son ‘who were you chatting to?’ Moi?
Home. Hello doggy, I really have missed you.
Huge big chat to my friend. It’s good to talk!

1 We went to a local town for the green grocers and CS’s but wallet firmly shut apart from a 50p book I was happy to find. And end of range air freshners for 50p snaffled. Who doesn’t want festive spiced apple smells.
2 A lovely caf! lunch, and it was much needed.
3 Back home and I cleaned up the kitchen, put a batch of cupcakes in to preheat the oven for the pork roast, leftover Christmas gravey from the freezer and a load of veg to go with it for dinner. The house smells lovely.
4 Chased up some work, no joy there applied for a few other things, and also listening to a pod cast on what I actually want to do while cooking.
5 I popped out for specific things, named things, and picked up a few rtcs, and some flowers but given they were shut and have opened in 2 hours, I don’t hold out too much hope, but they are bright and beautiful.0
