Good morning, it's Sunday. Still dark but birds are singing and Mr Blackbird is trilling away. Going to get dressed and take Mr Dog a dawn walk around park.

Saturday was better than anticipated. All DD1s stuff was going into storage so we had a crack team of people helping, her to be housemates were here, with her dad driving the removal lorry and loading everything ( it seems they have moved so many times that they are pros! ) and we got it all done in an hour.

Had bacon rolls. Bought bacon at cafe and then rolls at bakers! The fact that we don't have plates doesn't matter!

Nice chat to friend from home.

Haggis went to neighbours garden for the duration of move....all that's left is a sofa until tomorrow and his bed which I've sold and is getting picked up on Wednesday!

More to and fro to new accommodation. Priorities ...washing on and washing out!

Lovely dog walk, it's cricket season so cricket match was on and Haggis didn't appreciate that the park is not actually his so was a bit rude ( barking) at people having the audacity to sit and spectate where he walks!

Went to our good friends last night ( our first friends we made here ) and had the most delicious thai food for tea. It was so nice to be in their calm and lovely home after weeks of madness here. Just a lovely, lovely evening with them.

Then home and picked up my babies and dropped them off to their new comfy beds where the fridge is full of nice things ...then came back to my floor! Haggis was in his bed the earliest ever I think!

Airline are trying to entice me to bid to upgrade my seat on plane! I have to bid so maybe even wouldn't get it and you don't find out until 48 hours before! Hmmmmm! Trying to be very sensible and think what I could practically do with the money it would cost!

Today as well as all the tidying and stuff to be done, I'm going to our hospital for a service of remembering . No idea what the format will be . My lovely friend is picking me up and I'm sure there will be tears but hopefully smiles too.

Right m I'm off to walk a dog and watch the sun come up :)
  • 1 Not waking up to the alarms, was great but also meant a rather late start, we had a proper grilled brekkie for well lunch it was lovely.

2 Spur of the moment decided to visit the next town on, this time the CS’s were very giving, a book as new I had my eye on as a gift for 99p, and 4 yup 4 tops, this time in the size I am now there’s a bit less of me, and they are great, and 1 pair trousers all about £3 each, a bag of fruit and veg and a trip back to the car to load it up, then back to do the rest. A lovely day but noticeable that people around where grumpy even shop staff said we stood out as smiley and polite.

3 A lovely grilled chicken caf! dinner for less than I could make it for.

4 Home, a big cuppa and we lit the chimera to burn a lot of old paperwork, I made a start on in the office, both mesmerising and therapeutic.

5 The fruit had soaked up all of the brandy overnight, so we prepared the Christmas cakes, dh did the cake tins, I made sure it was all mixed up and we ran out of parchment, with threat of curdling, I zoomed out to Mr T, for it, I did the usual reduction check and there was turkey, chicken, and mince, I picked them up and asked politely if the mark down was the best or could they do the last one and they could so it went down to 60p and 40p each I was shocked how much it is to buy in the first place, it’s in the fridge at the moment just sorting the freezer for some space, still a lot of fruit to jelly and jam up.

    Quick pleasures for today:

    1) A lie in.

    2) Downhill neighbour left a cat bowl and sachets of cat food in our porch with a note to say she had found them when having a clear out and thought our cat could make use of them.

    3) Smaller son went to watch the football and his team beat a team 2 divisions (?) higher so they will be in the FA Cup! (More of the football later...)

    4) Bigger son went to see his friends on his motorbike.

    5) I cleaned out the hens sleeping quarters. 2 eggs today - hoorah! After a few weeks of 0/1 per day due to moulting.

    6) Courgette and chard omelette for lunch. Also did 3 servings of rumbledethumps and 3 of mixed roasted carrots and parsnips, all for the freezer.

    7) My allotment is about a mile off the road (down a track) and tucked behind the hedge. It was quite funny today because uphill neighbour went for a walk down that track for the first time and nearly jumped in the air when I said "Hello" through the hedge!

    8) Not long got off the phone to my school friend.

Trouble at the football... smaller son goes with a group of friends, some from his school, some from his football practice. There was 5 of them today. They have a game of football, go to McDonalds then walk up and watch the match.

Smaller son at half time decided he wanted to swap seats and talk to a different boy in the group (you can sit anywhere). So boy X reappeared from getting some food and started saying he could not sit in "his" seat. Everyone moved up so there was still a seat for him.

Boy X then walked along the row in front of the other boys and punched smaller son right in the eye! Another friend then said he was filming "for the police" and you can see smaller son wiping his eye and everyone looking shocked. Boy X then leans over the seats again (smaller son still sitting down) and punches him again in the eye, then the face, then in the side of the head. At that point, he turns on the boy filming it on his phone and says he will smash the phone and tries to grab it.

Boy X then went to sit somewhere else entirely and walked home by himself. He has been texting smaller son and phoned once to say they should "both apologise" and smaller son said very calmly that he would not apologise for being punched in the head. Smaller son's other friends in the group are upset. I don't know if this will spill over into school. :-( Smaller son is OK, the only bit swollen now is the side of his head.

    Morning!

    Saturday

    1. Finally defrosted fridge, so fan no longer making grinding noise. :j

    2. Dog to the vets. Bill was huge as usual, but could have been worse. Pleasure was that Doggie was excited, as she knows she gets to go to Pets at Home for a treat afterwards. :rotfl:

    3. Grocery shopping.....got some good savings to off set vet bill. :o

    4. Mexican for tea. Everyone ate it.

    5. Watched The Acountant. Really good film. Didn't even sew any of my quilt while watching it.:D

Hoping for a day in the garden.

Frith - smaller son conducted himself so well. Pleased he seems to be ok but it must have been upsetting.

    1. Started making Christmas cake. The fruit is soaking in alcohol. Will finish it and cook today.

    2. DS2 drive me to local town rather than station where I met a friend for coffee. We had a long chat and then she drove me to the station.

    3. Went to watch rugby. We lost but did get a bonus point. Enjoyable afternoon/evening. DH arrived with plenty of time to spare but it was a 5.30 start.. He goes from work.

    4. Managed to find seat in train on way home. Good journey and read my book.

    5. Ate in London with a voucher so made it reasonable price.

Hello bedtime! Poor Haggis is having his second early night in a row! But we've just had a lovely moonlit walk with a few barks at some possums.

Today has been such a mixture .

Lovely walk as sun rose round park. Just us at that time.

Trip to tip with extra cardboard boxes and some more e-waste.
You have to drive up the steepest ramp to get there and each time it gives me the heeby jeebies. ' I like your accent ' said the gentleman working there after I'd said ' cardboard boxes and computers!' , thank you !

Back and stopped at cafe for a serve of bacon and a hot chocolate to take away and made a bacon butty when I got in. Shared with my dog boy.

Then my lovely friend who also lost her husband recently picked DD2 up and went to the Service of Remembering . It was lovely but oh my goodness , the Mhagster flood gates opened and I just sobbed and sobbed.
Very poignant being there but nice to reconnect with staff.
Bit of a tea afterwards but I was talking too much!

    Then just tidy, tidy, tidy.

Borrowed jet hose from neighbours, popped down and had a nice chat with them in their garden.

A few dog walks ( using that as a guise for putting rubbish in the main street bins as mine is almost full already. He's been well walked today.

    Chips for tea.

DD1 did part of Melbourne Marathon today for her charity. Well done.

DD2 after tidying her room has been gallivanting and being social.

DS went cycling for 3 hours but did help out when he came back.

Their rooms are all empty and hoovered in anticipation of carpets getting cleaned in the morning.
I will lift my bedding off the floor in the morning :)

    Have a lovely Sunday.

    Boo hiss at boy frith!

  • 1 Yellow label 25p cherry pie was delicious with hot custard for DH and myself accompanied with a bailey, and there’s 2 more portions left.
2 Washing hanging out on the line.
3 The Christmas cakes have turned out well and are stored away waiting to be fed, they will be pickled by the festive time.
4 It will be chicken risotto for dinner.
5 I spent a couple of hours moving things in the garden that aren’t fixed away, weeding and cutting things back. It certainly feels like I’ve worked, but there is still the greenhouse to be tidied out and the front garden needs tidying still on the to do list.

    Pleasures for today (Sunday)

    1) A lie in!

    2) I didn't check hens today (always strange when I don't - I feel like something is missing) but bigger son said they were fine.

    3) Bigger son made several motorbike/bike outings and is in fact having a last "quick go" now!

    4) Bigger son and I basically took their room apart, emptying their Ikea plasticky drawers and washing them out (in the bath), hoovering, cleaned skirting boards etc. Cleaned windows and surfaces, steamed. A big improvement now and they've found various treasures that were missing. I found 3 card readers for my bank under the bunk beds!

    5) Smaller son made lunch while we were busy upstairs.

    6) Went to my parents' this afternoon and had a game of Scrabble. Dad asked complicated questions about the bike (he always had scooters and motorbikes until I was born).

    7) Pasta for tea then sons wanted a cake. No butter or marg so I made one with oil and bananas (a chocolate cake) that was acceptable.

    8) Smaller son did some revision for his forthcoming maths test and was very chuffed to get to grips with equations. I have to teach it the way I do it - some you do as a "claw" e.g 2(3x + 6) = 18 and some you do as a seesaw! e.g 2x + 3 = 3x + 1

    9) Very exciting news is that my sister is going to put their house up for sale! By fluke, she is thinking of a house very locally to me that I've always fancied! So had a chat with brother in law on the phone and we both pored over the details on the website then looked at it on street view/google earth.
