    My five for yesterday:

    1. Weather-wise, yesterday turned out to be better than the forecast indicated ...................... unfortunately, I believed the forecast and didn't do any laundry :(!

    2. Quick dash around A$DA in the late morning - Flora Buttery £2 on Rollback, SmartPrice Yoghurt (for HM Fruit Corners) and SmartPrice Rubber Cheese Slices (DGK's love them). Followed by very cheap Lunch in their Cafe - Jacket Potato with Cheese 'n' Beans for £1 and a 'freebie coffee' :j!

    3. My first shift back at the Charity Shop - great afternoon with lovely friends/colleagues. I've been relegated to the 'chair behind the counter' instead of the Tea Counter - which is for the best, at the moment. I'd be a liability with tea/coffee/hot chocolate at the moment - there'd be more in the saucers than in the cups just now :rotfl:.

    4. Back home to HM Soup and Sandwiches for evening meal. Magic Soup for OH and Leek&Potato for me - with whoopsied 'Rare Scottish Roast Beef' 'n' Sweet Onion Relish on the Sandwiches :j! Still some Beef left for lunch today - great whoopsie value for 97p :D.

    5. Emmerdale and Corrie x 2 in the evening - perfect ending to a lovely day :T.
  • Flora! No No No No No No. Emulsions are for walls of houses not walls of arteries!

V I see those that played on in 1914-15, and why public schools nowadays play rugby instead, are again trying to make up for their ills of years ago. Sorry, I do not want to see a symbol that is a mark of respect not used as some decoration for an overpaid footballer!
And more, let us remember the real name of the fund, The Haig Fund! Yes, you forgot it was called that! Not be lampooned by the Bolshevik Broadcasting Commissariat either.

Yes there were errors made, and less we forget that the ferry Leinster was sunk after Germany had sent a note to President Wilson wanting an armistice. Nor forget that the mood was wanting vengeance to be placed upon Germany! There were other events going on as well.

But Haig. Seems he is dismissed as some fool. Yet we forget Verdun. The Cornflower. Go look that up?
Verdun. The Spring Offensive of 1918. Germany’s last gasp chance of Victory before the US kicked off.

I forget, The Somme. A diversion because the French were well and truly pounded. At Verdun. Got that cornflower yet? At the start, tactics were bad.

In the end, the rolling barrage and the tank were going to change the course of the war.

Yet 100 years ago, after the Leinster was sunk. Germany were scorching everything in their retreat.
Still in was the entry of the US that finally turned the war. In 1917, Germany had already won on the Eastern Front!

And for us, apart from the Battle of Britain, we did not win another skirmish until D Day. Oh you think El Alamein?

Yes, could qualify, but technically no victory before then! Rhetorically, no defeat afterwards? But by then, the US were in West Africa and soon to be embarking for Sicily!

Now do you know what the Cornflower is?

4 BoPsie who managed to lose her orange yesterday from her packed lunch box has managed to give blood from a stone this morning. Unlike BoP, who’s blood is thick and luscious. She was also jabbed for the Influenza thing. Just make sure if you are like BoP you get yours.
Hang on, in the US everyone gets it on their health scheme. How come the NHS rations it?

3 Gosh another one! Now I was on about the Lunch Box. Packed and includes a penguin and a club. Also some rum and raisin chocolate that was on offers at the emporium of w8rs and partners!

2 Night BoP is inn the gym getting ready for SF.

I have had one today above! Oops forgets me Rum Raisin chocolate. Puts fire into me heart!

    Really, did you have too!
  • 1) It's stopped raining!

    2) YS scotch eggs consumed with home made minestrone soup for lunch, nom nom!

    3) Found a Halloween bucket for my Zebra as we've been invited to a sleepover at DD1s house on Halloween, he's so excited and has expressed a wish to be dressed as Darth Vader!

    4) Enjoying new authors from the library.

    5) Finding 3 books for the boys in the charity shop yesterday Usborne spotters guides to butterflies, ponds and lakes and another publishers wild flower identification book. All 4 boys are interested so we can take them when we go walking and find out what we're looking at!

    Pleasures for today (Tuesday).

    1) Getting both sons to college/school after they were revolting.

    2) Went to buy some boots as I was down to just the one pair of shoes.

    3) Hens well and 3 eggs.

    4) Did various jobs round the house and made the tea before I went out.

    5) Went to see my friend from school.

    6) Smaller son was very nervous about having a careers interview (with a stranger) but was able to talk about the 2 college open days and that, if he does catering, he will get his own set of knives with his name engraved on! (He is very taken with that idea).

    7) My brother brought me c30 cooking apples in a carrier bag so they have been peeled, quarted, chopping and stewed for the freezer.

    8) Looking forward to Celebrity Hunted later.
  • Hmmmm 5 pleasures today - I'll have to think hard about this one :o

    1) I dropped 2 bags of stuff into the charity shop but did not look or spend anything. Trying to reach 15 no spend days this month and it's harder than I thought.

    2) Went a walk with a friend at 1 pm. Great till it started raining.

    3) Visited Mum after walk and had tea and a Tunnocks tea cake - now that was nice.

    4) I finished knitting two scarves with very cheap wool I bought in Australia. One is a long wrap round scarf and the other is a short crossover scarf with 3 buttons.

    5) And number 5 I hope will be the new bbc series just started called the Informer.

    Good evening all xx

    [STRIKE]Five[/STRIKE] Six for today:

    1. Good weather forecast - so got a wash load done and out onto the line - new clothes prop used :j! Despite a few 'spots of rain' it was all properly dry by the time I got back home again :D.

    2. Lovely chat with downstairs neighbour as she was tidying her 'wildflower strip' out. All finished now, but they did their job this summer in attracting lots of bees and butterflies :T.

    3. Free day, so a visit to A$DA. Spotted one of the tenants from my 'old' Sheltered Scheme and invited her for coffee in Co$ta - had a lovely chat and caught up with her family news. Visit to HomeBargains for a couple of bags of their sugar (50p for 1kg) - also picked up two multipacks of GF Snacks (87p per multipack :)) to put away towards Christmas Goodies Stash ;) - and some cough mixture for OH (over £1 cheaper that in A.

    4. Called into the Charity Shop that I volunteer in for a catch-up with ladies that I don't normally get to meet up with (different shifts). Our 'Founder' was also on-duty today, so that was another good meet-up - we've been going for 38yrs and were the first CS in our local shopping centre :j. Resisted all tempting bargains ;)!

    5. Finally got over to A$da for a rummage and managed to stick to the shopping list - apart from a couple of whoopsies that were calling out to me. Have now got a very full fruit bowl, Salad Drawer, veggies re-stocked and some more stuff for Christmas Stash (GF Christmas Pud and GF Mince Pies :j).

    6. Back home to cook Gammon, Eggs, Hash Browns, Mushrooms and Toms  and now watching Midsomer Murders :T!

Good day all round .................... off to supervise Nathan tomorrow  ;)!

It's about 4am but I'm kind of wide awake!

For Tuesday...the builder popped in for a whole 5 minutes to 'see what he still has to do'...on bloody Thursday! So, you're not staying? No, we will crack on on Thursday. Well it's the same amount of stuff that needed doing 2 weeks ago on Thursday.

Anyway...I asked them to move the huge length of skirting that was behind my dresser so thats in middle of floor and I was able to move my dresser into position, clean it and fill it up. I kind of collect jugs so they live in there and then put some halloweeny/ seasonal stuff up too.

My friends daughter is in hospital , DD wanting to visit. Me saying no as she's bit poorly . Then her mum called and asked if we could go in. So yes we could. Bought flowers. Turns out you're not allowed flowers anymore! Told her mum to take them home!

Nipped into M0rrisons on way home for petrol and some RTC plants. The intention of the afternoon had been to sort out my front porch plants so shall maybe do that today.

Had a RTC pie and some use up veg roasted and beans for tea.

Nice chats with niece and then with friend on phone. Trying to make arrangements to see them this week when I've oddly got lots of other people to see but we've managed to fit everyone in, I think!

I'm GN sitting today whilst N sleeps here ( she does night shift) but it's school holidays . She's dropping her OH off at work ( new job) then hopefully she can get a decent sleep here. I do like an impromptu date with GN. She's usually good fun.

Right shall aim for another hours snooze before alarm goes off!

    Have a good day :)

Been awake since 2:30am. Now given up trying to go back to sleep....

    Yesterday

    1. Brought home a box of bagels from school, which were destined for the bin. They are for Breakfast club, but had been defrosted, and cook could not risk giving them to the children ......I have given some to friends and turned a bag full into croutons for soup and dips. They should last a while in an airtight container. The waste is immoral.

    2. Painting with Year 7. Made more sand bags for the Poppy display. (Thanks for the Cornflower suggestion BoP, we will be including some in the display).

    3. Class 5 painted their giant pumpkin orange,....... and themselves, and the table, and everything else! :rotfl:

    4. Chat with work friend after school.

    5. Costco meatballs and chips from the chipie for tea......almost IKEA. :D

    6. The last one of Vera.

Fretting about all the things to be done. :(

    1. Text conversation with a friend.

    2. Sent off an email to my line manager as she has asked why morale is low. I could have made it twice the length it was without thinking too hard.

    3. Colleague gave me a lift so I didn't have to wait for bus. She had read email and totally agreed and had said the same things in her leaving interview but slightly less diplomatic than I was.

    4. Considering applying for another job but in a totally unrelated field. If I don't do something soon then I will be stuck where I am.

    5. Enjoyed tea which I made which was very easy.

    6. My parents phoned to thank me for their Christmas present. I have them a voucher for a meal last year and they used it yesterday and enjoyed the meal and setting.
