Busy, busy weekend so conglomerate pleasures for a few days
1) Find a pre-loved coffee table on Friday morning which fits perfectly in the lounge.
2) Saturday morning gave biggest surreal pleasure on the way to meet DD1 when around 30 Morris Dancers in full regalia got on the bus, including one with a euphonium, several Bessie Horses including a unicorn and a local TV cameraman. The journey was hilarious, the poor cameraman was interviewing a few of them and every time we went over a bump the whole bus jingled with the bells on their legs, such fun!
3) Beautiful concert in the evening after a really nice day with DD1, Elgars 'Dream of Gerontius' in the Cathedral such lovely music and the choral society excelled themselves.
4) Rugby yesterday afternoon which we won! and made a raw, cold afternoon much warmer.
5) DD1 has found 4 burly 6th formers to come and help clear the allotment for a donation towards the World Challenge Expedition to India they're going on next summer. I shall keep them well fed and watered and it will enable us to put down weed suppressant membrane and make sorting the plot and planting up much easier in the spring.0 -
V Jack’s tea. Was a table of plenitude for all. And no waste, unlike the ready meal emporium waste trucks of this day?
4 Then kitchen disaster this morning. Fed Raffles, who wolfed down his well nice chicken bits in jelly, then did BoPsie’s packed lunch box, and put my jelly into it. Near disaster as I love my jelly but BoPsie is so cuff about it! Sore ted. In BoP’s packed lunch box today we has. Pork pie, cheese. Jaffa bar and a penguin, as well as strawbs, berries and oranges in jell. Stuff that in yous tummy and rub it.
3 Now after kitchen disaster this morning, I am unstuck as what to do for suppers. Could be I thinks nasta pasta again roulette style!
2 Night BoP shall be watching Engerland. Last one I thinks, as soon the ev'nings is dark and we start Scrabble Live again!
Not having one today, had one the other day instead! Mind yous I wanders hows Big Sis likes being call a MiL!
Now fill your boots with that BoPiness of the day.0 -

Pleasures for today (Monday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Took smaller son to school as a bonus for doing homework last night. We laughed when he got out of the car as he'd been sitting on 3 eggs, none of which had cracked!
3) Hens OK.
4) Brother, his dog and I went to collect chestnuts and got a good carrier bag each.
5) Stuck to BSD all day including nice Puttenesca sauce for courgetti tea.
6) Bigger son and I went out for a cup of tea at new favourite caf! and stopped off to wander round the Roman fort.
7) Took smaller son to the other college's open evening. What a weird assault on the senses - disco lighting in the foyer, a reception large than a tennis court open to the roof (no reason at all for it to be that size) then a band or music blaring in every room. :-/ We just went to ICT (they don't offer catering), chatted to the man then left!
8) Bigger son is out and smaller son went with my brother to the pub to watch the England match.
9) I roasted some of the chestnuts and watched Grand Designs.
10) Going to try and endure Museum of Curiosity now (2 hwb) though there is something deeply irritating about the programme, from the perky theme tune onwards.
11) Lost 6 lbs over the last week.0 -

Good morning. I'm back after a few days away. Nice to be home and in my own bed. With my own dog next to me on the sofa cuddled in
Went to Edinburgh for the weekend. I've not 'done' there in so, so long. OH and I used to go often in our courting years. Laterly we would often visit family in the surrounding area but never venture in to the city.
Got there in the absolute pouring rain. We took the bus. Then another bus! All the way uphill to where we were staying. Asked nicely if we could check in early as we were soaked. Very kindly we were able to. Stayed in the dinkiest apartment, perfectly proportioned and fine for a couple of days ( a week would have driven me crazy)
We walked down the lower half of Royal Mile on Saturday and the upper half on Sunday. I have not done it in at least 28 years which is shocking to me! And then I probably wasn't as interested in the architecture of the wee laneways and nooks. I enjoyed photographing them.
I got up early and went out wandering myself on Sunday morning, sun just up over Arthur's Seat. Wanted to find the venue for my Sunday night treat!
But found lots of other interesting things along the way.
Had an 'Evening with Nigella Lawson' she was interviewed / chatted go by Sue Lawrence ( Scottish food writer/ cook) and then q/a from audience. I thoroughly enjoyed it, she was very friendly and amiable in her manner, there were funny moments, serious moments and just moments when I nodded my head in agreement.
Back home yesterday. Just got a bus and then just got another bus without too much waiting time ( they're every half hour anyway but better to just wait 2 minutes than 28)
Home.
My dog! He wasn't home alone too long and we were back by the time i normally do his big walk anyway. So he just missed out on mummy cuddles first thing but has made up for them. Son said he woke him up at 5am yesterday ...I know said I , I phoned him!
Builder ( who's been on holiday) texted to say he'd be over later and I replied saying travelling back from Edinburgh home by such and such. So, not that I had anything more planned than getting the washing done and out in the glorious sunshine but I could have and that is the point! Text at 3.30pm to say he wasn't coming. I am so bloody over this ( insert stronger language!) let's see if he appears as 8.30am as newly promised! There's still lots of little things to be done. And a few big things too!
Lovely chat with sister in the evening...on speaker bemoaning (in front of him) the lack of things my son had done over weekend! The pile of recycling( piled just not taken out!) the dishes washed but not put away ( and needed rewashed as all greasy) , the carpet lifted previous weekend and dumped outside ( but dragged over new baby stuff for a new baby that's expected and I'm storing stuff for) so now covered in dust! The splatters of dog mud over my newly painted wall! Son just laughed as his mother and auntie berated him! He managed to take the pile of dirty washing out of machine and leave it on floor ....though did wash and hang up his own stuff! It's like he can only do things just so far...but not far enough for his mother's happiness!
Tea was a lovely pasta filled with leeks and more leeks and onions and bacon and peas and leeks. The remaining leeks were either bagged for freezer ( which is jammed packed)or went in a huge pot of leeky lentil soup! I'd got loads of leeks last week from BIL and hadn't done anything with them.
Right! Onwards. First wash done . It's still dark. To be nice this morning then rain forecast for afternoon.

Good Morning,
Recent Pleasures.
1. Upgraded our free tickets to Grand Designs, for Premium Package, so had somewhere to sit down between wandering around the stands.
2. Visit to Grand Designs confirmed that the choices we have made for our extension are the right ones for us. We saw Kevin McCloud from a distance.
3. Chinese takeaway for tea with all the usual suspects.
4. Year 11 class enjoyed painting their rubber band car and some 'sand bags' for our Rememberance Poppy display.
5. Fajitas for tea.
6. Sent off eBay parcels at the Coop and got some reduced tea bags at the same time. :j

lovely reading about your trip to auld reekie mhagster
When my marriage ended I went to stay for the weekend with DD2 who was living in edinburgh. she took me to the rugby in the afternoon but was busy in the morning. I decided to take a wander up Arthur's Seat which i hadn't climbed up before. i took a small picnic and a book. so peaceful, so beautiful, and so amazing to have as part of a busy city (and then of course the bus down to Murrayfield for a totally different amazing experience)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

My five for yesterday are;
1) Hung washing out in the morning sunshine and watched the steam rising from it. First time I've seen that in a while. Took washing in at 5 and it was all dry
2) Used up the last of the mashed potato from the freezer. I had a fried potato and egg sandwich for lunch. Very tasty.
3) Spent a couple of hours outside in the afternoon tidying the back. I love getting the garden all tidy for winter as with no weeds growing it stays like that for ages :rotfl:
4) Made spicy fried rice for dinner using bits and pieces from the fridge. I'm going to visit ds1 in Reading on Thursday so trying to empty fridge before then.
5) I finished sewing up waistcoat and adding buttons. Very happy to say that it fits. I did this while watching the Cry - very good.
Have a nice day xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)
