Wonderful what the apparent arrival of summer has made possible - awed at what you've all been busy with!
OS Pleasures recently
The green light through the leaves as I walk to the office.
Agreeing with another shopper that a full length French stick for 10 pence "well, you can't go wrong can you?". (Quick mental images of lightsabre wars with baguettes suppressed.)
Bonus points to Asda who found a section leader to cut me a piece of fresh yeast. Their bakers know me so well, it's a show up & grin job - tonight our chap in the white hat went off shift four minutes after I got in but left a message saying to "see me right." And they did, bless them!
Eyeing "let's celebrate!" banners and grinning at a chap clutching a case of beer.
Aw, sunshine hitting the glitterball & decorating the roof pitch with glorious tiny dots of light. Cute! And then the light moves & they go.
Boys' paperwork all sorted - just mine to go, ahem (where Did I stash my driving licence?). Still to get them all authorised is a relief.
Back (late but it is TV) for the wedding. That veil and the bandeau tiara, oh my, and the cello gets the solo! Faure and beautiful. I wonder if any of the signing souls will get to sit, shoes off, soul eased, listening to that? The foliage is stunning too. Oh *how* I do wish them joy. (Menfolk have vehemently scattered. Some day, chaps... This is both pleasure and prep.)
Parents have been to a strings master class & awed by the fact that even really very good musicians can get better As You Listen.
Bonus pleasure - they appear to have successfully reminded a sibling that double entry accounting means you write one number down Twice. The consequence being they now hope not to need to provide as much arithmetic and spiritual support next year. (I suspect I may have been held up as an alternative source of support & am known to be somewhat fanged on proper record keeping.)
A fish supper sat on the front garden, enjoying the sunlight.
Squalk from husband as he calculates how long youngest gets off between end of last exam and start of sixth form - he reckons 11 weeks! (I think he'll be expected to attend a leavers assembly at some point during that furlogh, but if the maths is right, Ye Gods.)
Right, still a bit woozy with all the wedding whoopee but love courage health & strength to you all.0 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) A lie in!
2) Cooked breakfast.
3) Hens well.
4) Smaller son had an excellent afternoon in nearby canal town with 3 friends - crazy golf, go karting, chips and ice cream!
5) Bigger son went to work and is now at the pub playing pool.
6) We went to my brother's to watch the FA cup final and took along a lemon meringue pie made by smaller son.
7) Watched Casualty.
8) 2 daft things that amused me today - after the FA cup, the TV went to a royal wedding special and smaller son asked, "Why is everyone standing up except the Queen?" My brother, "She IS standing up!"
Also tickled that bigger son has reconnected with a school friend. Lets say that bigger son's name is Idris Johns. This other boy is Idris Johnstone! They don't seem to get confused, though!0 -
Saturday pleasures,
Toast and marmalade whilst catching up with the world.
Settled down to watch the wedding service and found myself strangely tearful as she walked down the aisle followed by the little ones, highlights of the shebang for me were pageboys toothless grin when fanfare started up and eloquent pastor shaking up the crusty Archbishops with his rousing address.
Left Capt S mowing the lawn and drove to yard, the never ending task of keeping pony at least a little clean continues but good chats with fellow owners as we bemoan scarcity of hay.
The lovely purple stocks I brought over a week ago are still going strong, displayed in grandmothers tall vase they look fab in fireplace.
Pork Souvlaki with feta salad, followed by those strawberry tarts, beloved was seen to actually pat his tum.0 -
Good Morning
Friday
1. Didn’t have to go to Gardens with my group :j Went to meeting instead.
2. Saw nice ex colleagues at meeting.
3. Students had wedding street party style celebration in the afternoon. Everyone was in Red, White and Blue. Fun! (Not enough fun in education anymore ).
4. Got several shopping chores done on the way home.
5. Did not have to go out again to Taxi the boys anywhere.
Saturday
A Grand Day Out!
1. Train to London at 7:15am with takeaway posh coffee.
2. Breakfast in Cafe Rouge Hamstead. (Had gift card bought when MrA offering 20% off).
3. Wandered around Hampstead with our London Walks guide book. Visited 2 very different NT houses. Fenton House and 2 Willow Road. (Spent a while just sitting on a wisteria covered bench in the garden at Fenton House. It was so beautiful in the sunshine). Saw the house which was the inspiration for the house with the cannon in Mary Poppins. Also lots of blue plaques on artists and writers homes. Photographed DH outside Boy George’s House :rotfl:
4. Up to Chelsea and wandered along the Kings Road. London was empty, as everyone was in Windsor, or watching the FA Cup :rotfl: Had to have a little rest in a pretty park, as I think I had a bit of sunstroke
5. Dinner at Marco Pierre Whites Steakhouse. (Bought a voucher for our 25 wedding anniversary which we did not use, and it was running out ). Lovely meal.
6. Wandered back through South Kensington, stopping off for a glass of wine at an outside table of a nice bistro. (A bit more affordable than Mr MPW prices!).
A very elderly day out in London. We walked 9 miles according to DH step counter. Didn’t spend a lot of real money, as it was all on gift cards and vouchers :rotfl:Even managed to find a pair of shoes in a charity shop :j
Day in the garden today. Have a lovely day0 -
Yeast for bread. Does it? Mine makes wobbleade!
Kings Road! Some party then!

4 Watched another flix last eve. Tammy. But I must not let yous lot see it as the grandmother was a tad …. Or as in another flix shoiw. Not funny when its your mother!
3 Was out early to trim the beard to number 3 and bristly for the weak! Then proper five blades and the ship afters as well. Stung a bit today! Man thing and a lot harsher than armpits!
2 Nite for dinner is another shepherds pie from a month back. Proper food, with leeks, carrots and pan sauted gravy. Pudding of delights of angels today!
We have a change coming up ...0 -

2. THE wedding seemed to be nice - i didn't see it (far too nice to be in) but did catch some highlights later

Pre teenage Children playing out on my quiet cul de sac. Girls at one end. Boys at other. Glances across.
Remembering that feeling when you first notice boys.0 -
1) A relatively successful boot fair to sell this morning.
2) Starting to clear the pantry/larder and use up stores rather than cart them to a new home in the fullness of time.
3) Selling my stovetop coffee percolator (an old fashioned swan one) to a very enthusiastic lady this morning who also bought two vintage cookery books with enthusiasm.
4) Nice walk with Cookie to blow the cobwebs away after standing in the sun all morning.
5) One of the roads nearby was having a street party this afternoon, presumably for the wedding yesterday and seemed to be having a lovely time as I walked by the end of the road with the hound!0 -

Awh Mrs SD I've enjoyed reading about your French experiences over the last few weeks on various threads. Well done on your decluttering journey. I need to get back into the 'zone ' for my mothers but I'm not really in the right head space for it as its so draining...doing it in France sounds much nicer! Your long lunch sounds divine.
The oddest of lazy days today. Up early then dozed off again.
Did an ironing. Hoovered. Pottered. All whilst watching 'innocent' on my phone.
Then went to finish my book...I may have dozed. Then read...then dozed and so on. Friend messaged to say she was dog walking so I finished my book and wrapped up warmly and went a nice doggy walk with Haggis and girlfriend...wooly jumper on!
Then made pasta for tea with son.
A sunny week lies ahead, hurrah! As regular readers will know I struggled with the heat in Melbourne but actually have missed the sun ( not the heat) and the brightness so this has been nice having lovely warm weather.0
