Good, though grey, afternoon.
Broomstick - I loved A SingleThread. Think I've read and enjoyed all Tracey Chevalier.
VJ'S mum - ace cake! Will be good for feeding the five thousand!
D Doll - great photo. Presume the big grins were before the match!
Finally got my hair cut today. Didn't want to make an appointment until DH was sorted in case I had to cancel. If you do leave it too long, it looks even better when it's done. And savesmoney!
DS has tested positive, after managing to avoid it all this time! He says it's not too bad, just like a heavy cold. Think he's more annoyed than ill!
Have started a course of steroids cos nasal polyps are so bad. That's no sleep for me then! But good to be able to breathe. And smell and taste, so not all bad.
Happy grey day everyone

Oh look, Mad Hatters Everyone!
I'll catch up the rest of yous later!Back in Safe Harbore!
I knows I was away and did not report back in yesterday! Had me socks` to wash you see! After all that!
Was away for some three days in Woodcoks! Then off to Lindum and the castle, next two the big church. With its spire, that church was the tallest building inn the world once! There! Had brakefest at the garden centre, no beans though!
Then has the stake on our anniversary! It was good and a couple of sherbets as well!
On SunDae, table opposite had moved the table numbers hoping to get off without the full bill! The waitress sussed it, when the Albatross went for her fancy pudding, and tuck it to the wrong table. They harked up about some drink on their tab, and the fancy pudding, which the nice waitress took from the bill, but they paid for some of my wobbleade! I is not complaining! It backfired on them!
Wents too the Corner House for dinner on Tuesday and had the prawn starter and jumbo haddock Very good and filled me boots did that!
Got home and found Kitty! She was looked after by neighbour, and was happy to see the Admiral! The Albatross is recovering!
Court up with the uni challenge last night withj some cocoa and cheeses!
Back to normal!
Jen sends her things as well
Keep safe!I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!14 -
the photo was at half time, c'est la vie
1) porridge, blueberries, yoghurt and seeds for breakfast very tasty
2) chick pea and coriander soup for lunch (#5 from my cook book) - i don't like coriander leaves but do like ground coriander so used that instead, and added some baby sweet corn (sliced) that dd2 didn't eat and were looking a bit sad, ditto broccoli
3) catch-up with the boss (she's in Georgia) and colleagues - boss was in the dark cos she couldn't have both the light and her phone plugged in at the same time
4) baked eggs (#6 recipe) with sweet potato chips (sprinkled with jerk powder), mushrooms (sprinkled with garlic powder) and tomato, all done in the over - first time i've done baked eggs, and first time for a long time sweet potato chips - yum
5) and now watching Don't look up. Candles are lit, dogs are snoring, tummy is filled.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK and their new bale of bedding has arrived. It has rained all day so it remains in the house for now.
3) Went into town for a new hairbrush. I have very little hair and worked out my existing tiny hairbrush must be 25 years old! Smaller son has oodles of hair and the hairbrush has been losing spikes (bristles?) recently. Also had the task of buying myself a new pair of trousers (I have 2 pairs at any one time and wear them until they fall apart). By the time you have discounted anything flappy, flowery, fussy, sparkly, patterned or less than 100% practical, that leaves you with 2 pairs to choose from. Neither in a long length, of course.
4) Have been watching Ghosts on iplayer this evening.
5) Fairly prepared for our trip from tomorrow to Sunday, though we are worried the football match will be cancelled if it keeps raining. I've texted my mum (from the North East originally) and have had warnings about the wind! Hopefully all the trains will run sensibly. I haven't been up there since an interview at Newcastle Uni in 1993. My mum had a tiny family and there is now no one left up there apart from one cousin not seen since my parents' wedding in 1969. I shall be able to understand everyone but will they be able to understand me!12 -
Glad you had a good trip Admiral. Ooh a photo of Dr M 😊
Recent pleasures:
Unexpected trip to little town about 25 minutes away to take friend to an eye clinic. It had a lovely high street and a good market.
Two exercise classes in one week!
After all the rain, this morning was sunny first thing and still dry when I had hung the washing out and cleaned the kitchen and bathroom floors (my least favourite job!) so I decided to go for a walk in lovely local park, which always lifts my mood.Beautiful crocuses (better than in photo) lots of new hellebores and gorgeous camellia.
Night all 💤13 -
Hello. Late for me. Just finished tidying up but decided dishes can wait till tomorrow! So I went all the way down to opticians at absolute opposite end of town to be told appointment in 4 weeks time! It was for the 3rd but I’m assuming 31st had been clicked by mistake. Rather peed off! However went to a charity shop nearby and got a nice set of curtains that will go in DS old room once I have new windows in. ( note to self check on when this is occurring )
Home. Briefly! Phoned my sister and updated her on the mother situation. Then down to dentist. All okay.Met DD2 for lunch. But she didn’t have long so we were a cheap date…shared a bowl of chips! Then home again! Made a chilli. And far too much rice! Had a lovely spread of food. So nice to be able to feed friends again! So much chatter and laughter and a crescendo of noise not heard in this house in 2 years. A lovely evening,
Walked a friend home with the doggy. Was a touch chilly.A good day.14 -
1. Interesting array of costumes for World Book day. Not all schools were participating though.
My favourite was the tiger from The tiger who came to tea, maybe because I love the book.
2. My old car passed its MOT which means more money when I sell it.
3. Chat with DS1
4. Easy tea of fishfingers.
5. Chat with a friend.11 -
Some recent pleasures,
Small dog snoring in her basket, she has loved all the beach walks.
Tasty food, it’s been strange not to be cooking and it’s something I do enjoy but has been nice to have a break.
Baby bunnies in the garden.
Good journey home, just 1.5 hours door to door.
Belated birthday present from youngest niece of tiny rose and chocs, the box had been left in our well so safe from the elements.

Good afternoon
Very, very wet here!
Can anyone explain what ' The Docs app will be deprecated in May' means, please. It's a notification on my kindle but it won't let me open it! Sounds scary!
A housework sort of day ,- not fit weather to do anything else. But has to be done sometime I suppose.
Made some gf oaty biscuits. They're very good and can share with gf DD
Had a premium bond win. £25! Not a lot but far more than we'd have had in interest on a bank account.
Sausages and bubble and squeak for tea. A proper Friday sort of tea.
Happy wet day everyone12 -
Afternoon all
Happycas - this is the first Tracy Chevalier I've come across - will definitely be listening to/reading more of hers and will keep an eye out for a s/h copy of A Single Thread - i'd like to revisit it in print.
Five recent pleasures:
1. More listening to the above book in bed.
2. Passed lots of creatively dressed children going home from school mid-afternoon yesterday. Marvelled at how one child could have stayed cocooned in tin foil for most of the day without it tearing. He can't have moved! I have no idea which character he was meant to be but he looked happy.
3. Cooked nine portions of veg stew, mash and broccoli. One was last night's tea, the rest have been frozen. My plans for the month had calculated that this batch cook would provide six meals so to realise I'd created nine was a big bonus.
4. Sorted out another wood delivery. Will be a couple of weeks so I'll just have to eek out the woodpile until then.
5. Gas man did the annual gas safety check and all should now be ok for another year - not that I'm using very much of it!
Have a good rest of Friday.
