Happy New Year all CFO peeps

I head a few bangs last night but nothing exciting. Then howling wind [outside :D]

Popped into town, but seems shops were having a rest, not open until 10 and I was there at 0930. I was only there for a mooch and some air. Came home before they opened, it was starting to rain by then anyway and no point in hanging around in the rain for 30 minutes just to mooch in A$da. That would be the ultimate need to "Get a life"

Late breakfast when I got home, toast & bramble jam

    Lunch, cheese & piccalilli sarnie

Dinner, back to CFO in spades. Bangers, mash & baked beans

Trifle has all been scoffed. The only LO remains of the season are two packs of mince pies, one small Chrimbo pud and unopened jar of piccalilli. None of which will see Easter

I noticed the daff leaves are poking out of the soil, Spring is on the way:):)

    PS
internet probs, I am on limited BB allowance, and nearing the monthly limit. Now applied for unlimited BB but does not kick in until old billing period expires on the 6th. So if I am MIA you know what has happened

    Who said trifle?

Chocolate sponge, but not chocolate custard this time. That's cost about £1 to make.

For lunch I had: Pulled beef, Yorkshire pud, roasties, roast parsnips, brussels, carrots, mashed spuds..... and a spoon of stuffing on top because I can. Utterly stuffed, that was way too much food!

    Oh well...

    Morning all

    That trifle looks lovely PN

Up early, trying to re arrange my existing broadband & phone contracts, spent about 30 minutes on the phone, but productive & very helpful, with a good result. It was +net if anyone is interested

Breakfast was jumbo oats, with sliced banana, Greek yoghurt & honey

I've removed a mini pizza for defrosting in time for lunch

Dinner, not sure but a baked spud using one of my Xmas spud hoard, with tuna & mayo filling + salad looks likely as a pleasant and easy return to more normal CFO grub

    Good morning everyone,
I'll have a proper read back later but so far (fingers crossed), I seem to have my broadband back:).
Chaos rules here this morning as had a houseful (12) for dinner yesterday so today's challenge is get it put back in some sort of order and get the decorations down. Younger son heads back today but older son & his gf are here until Thursday when CFO will resume:)

The grounds white with frost still, I am hoping to get out for a good walk before the "weather" arrives around mid-day - not sure if it will be snow or rain around here, then I'll start on my NY clear-out when I can remember which cupboard I put the shredder in, I'm hoping under the stairs.

Yesterday I decided to use up the last of the roast beef in gravy that I had in the freezer and piled the plate high with veg; I managed to use up the last of the swede, brussels and parsnip. Also had some mashed potatoes but there's still a few of them left in the cupboard so need to plan this weeks meals with them in mind.

This month I'm aiming to use up my freezer stock, really need to defrost the poor overworked wee thing. There's also some veg that needs using up; little gem, tomatoes, potatoes and kale are the main priority so at the moment I'm thinking:-
Tues - Bolognaise Pizza, green salad.
Wed - Sausage & mash, baked beans.
Thurs - Fish Pie, cabbage & kale.
Fri - Turkey, kale and noodle stir fry.

Anyway boiled egg and oatcake been had, I've got pea & ham soup defrosting for lunch and I'll have a stilton scone along with it, best go and get my boots on.

My decorations are staying up until Twelfth Night, they took long enough to put up..!
Will be moving towards 'normal' food, but quite a few frozen turkey meals are on the horizon.
My cleaners arrive later (essential extravagance, due to disability). Must move.

    Wild/wet weather here today.

I've a wake of leftover ingredients and products purchased trailing out behind me.....

Fresh veg: Brussels, carrots, 5-6Kg of spuds!

Made: Trifle. I really need to use a smaller dish in future, to be honest :)

Bought: 6 sausage rolls, pizza, quiche.

Today I'll try to get round to eating a pizza and two sausage rolls I think ... quiche and other sausage rolls will need to go into the freezer.

It is harder to keep the freezer clear when you're a CFO as you're perpetually putting food in .... and when you take it out you take tiny portions out.

Overall, my Christmas Day food choices worked out better this year than last year... by using fresh vegetables I've not got bags and bags of frozen veg in the freezer.... and by reducing the number/variety of veggies (removed 3 from the list) that's further reduced the frozen veg in the freezer!

For other scoffing food .... I probably bought about the right amount of that .... and I've still a lot left over.

Other purchases/in case: I did buy things "in case" in the run up to Christmas. Food that will just get used up in the coming 1-2 years anyway ... but I bought "in case I made XYZ". e.g. dried mixed fruit.... "in case" I decided to make a small Xmas pud, or bake a cake ... which, of course, I didn't.

Cold, cold, cold fingers right now. Not had the heating on since yesterday afternoon, so it's a bit nippy :)

It's wet and windy here too - a rather dark and gloomy day.

Breakfast was a cheese omelette - turned out really rubbery- guess I must have overcooked it.
Enjoyed a couple of salmon (from a tin) rolls for lunch and some fruit.
This evening I will be pulling out all the stops and making a spag bol - instructions courtesy of my local butcher :).

I woke up thinking I hadn't eaten liver in a long while. My wife never cooked it at all, but mum served it regularly as a child and I loved it. I also remember eating 'tripe and onions' - wonder if anyone eats that these days?
