I just found an idea/motivation. Tomorrow's food will be Yorkshire pudding, mashed potato, brussels sprouts, carrots. I can then either have beef brisket with that, or chicken/stuffing. I have roast parsnips and roast potatoes I can toss onto the plate too. I'll decide tomorrow. I've just put the spuds on to make the mash.[/QUOTE]
Sounds good - I'll be there about 1pm
I won't be online tomorrow, so just popped in to wish each one of you a 'Healthy and Happy New Year'
Welcome to the thread Irenadler
Breakfast was a lightly boiled egg with wholemeal toast. This was followed by the warm grapefruit - really nice.
Lunch will be baked beans on toast as I really fancy that. Must also finish the clems before they become manky.
This eve will be an Indian take-away. I will be joined by my chum who is also useless in the kitchen
We will probably watch a good old war movie - it will drown out the sound of all the fireworks lol
Just as an aside, my chum's wife not only dumped him, but cleared out the joint account which had 'a lot of money' sitting in it - there to pay for a new kitchen - or so he thought. Needless to say, he will be consulting a lawyer to sort matters.
Best wishes to all0 -
Oh dear apji re your friend - sounds like, though it was out of the blue to him, she'd been planning it for some time. I was surprised one time to read that it's not uncommon for women to have some "Get out savings"....and I think it happened recently to a male friend of mine by the look of it (but, in his case, I think he probably realised and had also been "making preparations"....). It was one of those marriage break-ups of "When the youngest child is old enough to be independent" type scenarios.
Food today - not given much thought again (that does seem to be a common theme for us all on here:rotfl:). Like yesterday - I expect it will include a lot of fruit. Think there could also be one of my fallbacks (ie roasted vegetables). The Cheese Stash is going down - and I hauled a half pack of halloumi out of the freezer - so think I might grill a bit of that to go with it. Only 9 packets or containers of various cheeses left to go ......
I think I must have bought half the greengrocery section in Tesco on Saturday - so I do know it's not a question of not having enough in....0 -
Well, that didn't go at all well..... I made the mash, ahead of tomorrow's meal .... and it looked so lovely, I ate it - straight from the jug I was mashing it in - and with the fork I was mashing it with.
Oh well ... there's plenty more spuds in the cupboard
So mashed potato was lunch today. Maris pipers... so yummy as mash.0 -
So far today I have had chocolate biscuits and fruit cake for breakfast.
My sister in law is doing a buffet for this evening and I've just been to Sainsburys with my brother who insisted on buying me a lot of ready meals and bits that don't need cooking for when I go home tomorrow, he want's to make things easy for me for the next week after my stay in hospital.0 -
I'll be home on the sofa tonight.
I might/not fall asleep before midnight .... can't tell until I look back at what I did
No invites, no parties. Actually, I've never been in with a crowd of anybody that ever had a party.
Some years ago I lived in a town where people wore fancy dress in town ... and it was possible to get dressed up and just wander round the filled streets without actually going INTO a pub/club etc. I had 2-3 outfits, chosen based on the weather. For a night like tonight (wet/cold/windy) it'll have been the caveman as I wore brown leggings, boots covered in bits of furry fabric, socks hidden in the boots.... a nice fat jumper and a caveman top over that ... all warm and toasty on the inside.
I'd get dressed up, have an alcopop.... take a walk round the town for an hour or so about 8ish .... back home, watch telly, then get back down town for the midnight countdown and "snog with a random bloke" - my tip is: always make sure in the 10 minutes before midnight that you're standing next to a hottie. (They clearly hadn't read this advice).0 -
I've randomly decided, as it's raining, to make a trifle for tonight
I might not eat it .... but once it's made it's made.
Now ... plain or chocolate.... can't decide. Chocolate is harder as I have to add one more ingredient....0 -
I got up late again today and breakfast was WM toast with a veggie bacon rasher and ketchup and a pot of green tea afterwards.
I will have a smoothie later. I'm going to make roasted peri-peri chickpeas again as well, I can't stop eating them at the moment.
I'm going to make HM pizza and green salad and tomato and onion salad tonight and watch TV with some wine.
I'm dreading the stupid fireworks as my dogs hate them.:mad:PasturesNew wrote: »have an alcopop.
I used to love the lemon and orange Hooch.0 -

That was lunch then - I made some soup from use-up carrots, lentils and some of my own tomatoes that had been lurking in the freezer. Had it with toast. Followed by persimmon and a drink of rice milk.
As Pastures might say "Stomach full and job done".0 -
Question?
I treated myself to an Indian take away last night (instead of tonight because no doubt they will be very busy).
I got a Chicken Madras (sadly not as hot as I'd like) and a Saag Bhaji..I have half of each left which I decided to mix together with the view to eating it tonight.
But I just do not fancy it today so how long do you think it will keep safely in the fridge please?'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0
