Sorry to here so many CFOers have been ill, hopefully this cold spell will kill off a few of the germs doing the rounds.

Decided I needed to get out for some fresh air and used up some cheap cooking salt on the drive to make sure I could get the car in and out without any problems. Did a bit of shopping for bread and some more veg; if I'm careful and get the meal plan sorted out I should manage well into the new year before having to do another shop.

Today = banana on toast for breakfast, bananas are at that stage that's perfect to fork onto toast. Lunch was pate on crackers, a pear and a satsuma for afters. Tonight its been gammon from the freezer, oven chips, salad and coleslaw.

I think I need to do a bit of cooking tomorrow instead of just reheating.

  • Mr APJI, I've sent you a personal message.
  • I see what you mean Poppystar....

There are times when one has to "divorce" a relationship and I've had to "divorce" what I thought was a friendship (of a few years standing) during the year and I won't go into the reasons here just in case - but it became very clear they arent concerned with my welfare/the Truth/etc.

Still - I took the view that having to "divorce" two friends in over 60 years is pretty good going basically:cool:. The other one was also down to it became clear they would do "whatever they wanted - even if it was at the expense of my welfare" and tell lies to try and cover themselves - so same reason.

So - I guess it's summat to "put down to experience" if it happens so rarely in one's life having to do that...
  • Now - down to pasta and canned pineapple.

Hmm...definition of a challenge. But I'm wondering whether one could cook up some pasta. Then drain the water off it and re-heat in some canned coconut milk (if you have some) and a bit of sweetening of some description. I'd use something like coconut sugar or maple syrup - but you could just use yer bog-standard sugar.

Don't forget lotsa nice sweet spicy things - like cinnamon, nutmeg, etc chucked in with it whilst its cooking up in that coconut milk.

Top off with whatever suitable fruit you have to hand (eg frozen berries) and that pineapple. Maybe finish it all off with a bit of anything you have along the lines of chocolate chips/dusting of cocoa powder/etc.

Another crater has appeared in the trifle :o

Trifle seems to have improved with leaving it overnight, like stew or curry
Overnight keeping could be problematic in a CFO household :D
I find that trifle improves if kept overnight. It has to be a pretty big one to last overnight here though :D. The one I made yesterday was eaten over yesterday and today. I finished it about an hour ago. On the plus side, I still have stolen :D.

I have had an easy no effort required food day today.

Breakfast was Greek yoghurt with some berries and a slice of toast, and lunch was cheese and biscuits.

I had a portion of the beef goulash I had cooked and frozen a couple of weeks ago, with some oven chips for dinner.

I've also had the remainder of the trifle I made yesterday, some rather nice chocolate biscuits bought for Christmas and I will be having some stollen later.

I resorted to a typical for me CFO dinner of baked cod, baked spud and LO pepper stew. I really enjoyed it, simple but tasty.:D I've just realised I've not actually managed to have a mince pie or piece of stollen yet or any chocolate:eek::eek:. There's been too many savoury treats to enjoy;).

    Morning everyone

I've been up for a while so had an early breakfast of scrambled eggs on toast, and I've just had a Greek yoghurt with some berries. Both the eggs and the yoghurt needed using up because I'm going to stay with my brother for a few days.

My niece and her boyfriend are staying here until Tuesday so that they can host a couple of friends who live in London for a long weekend. Some of their food was delivered yesterday and there is quite a lot of things that I don't eat and have never tried. My niece says that she will make sure there are some things left for me to try. I like to try new things so I'm looking forward to that.

In case I don't manage to get on here over the next few days I hope you all have a Happy and Peaceful 2018.
  • awful wind outside last night, woke me up at stupid o`clock. Had two breakfasts now and another good sleep but downstairs

I have cold ham, so today will be home frozen roasted parsnips, small tomatoes kale and sprouts in a kind of stir fry together. No idea for the rest of the day, except that I will be fridge and freezer diving, even if only for berries and stollen

    Morning All

Don't you just hate it when everything in the fruit bowl gets to that "use me now" stage all at the same time - so another banana on toast for breakfast. Lunch will have to be the avocado in some shape or form and I fancy a stir fry of some kind tonight, using prawns, veg and noodles - flavourings I'll decide on later.

Kittie, I just noticed your post, I'm not copying - honest ;)
