  • I suddenly fancied a nice juicy orange, so I'm having one.

Looking through my cupboards I realised I still have some choccie coins left,:D they are probably quite good as I'm trying to lose more weight they have a lot of taste, but they are small.:p

And they usually aren't that easy to open which means just gobbling a handful isn't a quick task:D

In fact being in my own bed, my own (admittedly very cold) house and drinking tea out of my favourite mug are today's treats:):)
Fear I may be going the way of being an elderly, curmudgeonly, old so and so!!

    Welcome Aboard !:D

Sounds a rotten Christmas PS. Hope normality soon returns

Turkey finally sliced and frozen, just a crown carcass to pick over later, enough meat bits on it for dinner. Then apologies to "proper" MSErs but the bones are headed for the bin and not a nourishing gruel:o

Sampled one of my HM yoghurts, just as it was, no fruit or honey etc added. I think it was bit too early to have tried it, still a bit "loose" But for a first effort it will do. I find pure yoghurt fine without any added extras

Dinner is likely to be last of turkey, with roasted veg, including some of the YS cauliflower from yesterday's foray.

May give spuds a miss today's dinner because they could take up trifle space

    Hi All!

Just came online to check in after the worst christmas ever!!! Am still ill having also gone down with a virus that is persisting. Will catch up on the past few pages soon.:o Hope you all had a good time yourselves.

    No overindulgence here
Virus means I can no longer stand the taste of chocolate.
Seriously considering who are my real "friends" and whether next year a CFO christmas might be the best thing :(

I have very little food in the house so may have to venture out later or release the remaining fish fingers and frozen chips;)

Hugs love me too. Having got rid finally of the never ending cold got well and truly zapped by this nasty !!!!!!.

I did at least get Christmas Dinner at DDs ut had to come home early. Had to text grandsons not to come Boxing day which really upset me'

Havent had a proper meal since Christmas Day. Thank god for my stash of smartprice rice pudding but don't have much of an appetite anyway Not touched the Christmas treats

Ive plenty of food in so at least don't have to venture out its blowing a gale and raining here

Had some lovely presents my favourite being a food vacuum sealer Its ace and big kid that I am just love watching it work The other is a Coffee Maker but Ive nearly had a heart attack at the price of the pods will definetly have to be a treat thing.

  • oh, I don`t like the sound of some of you being poorly. Oh dear, maybe that is why I have a few packages of foods that only need added boiling water, just in case. Personally I prefer to be on my own when not well, catering for no-one but me but with a handy phone

I got 5 more meals out of that small piece of ham, it was gorgeous, the cider helped a lot. I vac packed the 5 meals, froze 4 and am so looking forward to moist ham and picalilli sandwiches during the next few weeks. I also wanted a big fresh orange today and ate one this morning :D

It really does feel as though proper winter is coming fast. No snow thank heavens

'Orrible weather here and all. No snow - but woken up in the night by rain absolutely belting against the window. Followed by getting blown to bits walking round town.

Lunch today was cba stuff - so that was toast with the last of a use-up packet of soft goats cheese and half an apple.

Trying to persuade myself currently re starting in on preparing dinner at some point soon. Got some tofu out of the freezer - after seeing an idea about pan-frying it with maple syrup and liquid aminos (equivalent of soya sauce). Thinks - have also got an aubergine needing using. Got some spinach needing using up - so that could be steamed.

Part of the Christmas/New Year period of "getting myself organised" and have been saving links to suitable meal plans (complete with shopping lists) and hoping that might be one way for me to get round cba modes (as in - just follow the plan). That's the theory - let's see if the practice works out that way.

Always been a list-maker and doing tweaking of the various lists I do for different things. Cue for the main weekly shopping list for supermarket now divided into sections - ie vegetable section, fruit section and "other" (inc the non-food items of things like loo paper etc). Personal goal to see that two-thirds of that list is veg/fruit (yep....11 out of the 15 items on the list to date are). Hopefully even little tweaks like that will help me be more organised and I personally have no excuse whatsoever for not being a Mega Planner:rotfl:

EDIT; Speaking of planning and lists - and I'm sure there's a reason why the DWP has handed over an extra £10 in recent weekly State Pension payment - but I can't remember what it is. Anyone enlighten me? I know I've had the annual £200 winter fuel allowance money - but an amount like £10 doesnt tend to register with me - and hence I cant recall.

Oh no another CFO poorly, that's a shame you got smitten Meg:(.
My vac packer is one of my favourite "toys" as well;).
My Dad popped by earlier with two huge sides of wild salmon. His friend had caught and filleted it and it's been a big 'un:eek:. My younger son will portion it and vac pack it. My Dad wan't to split it between him, me and my sister which is lovely and thankfully there is more than enough room in my freezers to take it. I think one I do my post-festive period sort out I might have an empty shelf:eek::D.
I'm definitely CFOing tonight so it will be something easy to have while I catch up on "Call the Midwife" :D
  • Whoops....just answered my own question with a quick "why've I got it" on google. It's "Christmas bonus" - ah...yes...remembers now....that "peanuts pay" that's been the same for 40 years or however long it is. Hence I forgot it - as it's **** all now and will be total peanuts by the time I'm very much older....:rotfl:

That's the root veggies in oven, but left sprouts & leeks out for a wee bit longer, learning from experience

I nibbled a thin slice of stollen, only the crust left now.

There was a move to abolish it, but no politician wants to be remembered for snatching a tenner off pensioners. But it would cost too much to increase it. Apparently Maggie hated the "Thatcher milk snatcher" tag and no one wants a repeat

  • Christmas bonus, oh, someone already said.:)

I just got in and it is horrible and cold and windy out there.:(

I wasn't thinking and I just ate the rest of the roasted chickpeas as a snack with my green tea, whoops, that was supposed to be for the tortilla wraps tonight. I have to open a tin of kidney beans and use half a tin of that instead.
