Gosh that was quick, even if I say so myself. Pizza is assembled and will be getting to room temperature soon, I only put 2 chopped anchovies on top of the topping, just for piquancy. Beans are cooking in the spices and just 1 tbs of water, did them early so the flavour matures. I will be forgetting the lamb and will be adding fermented tofu. What now! sun is still very faint, got to do something engrossing, I am taking to myself enough as it is. Makes me so want to get on with the house buying, walking will be possible to get a daily paper and chat to people. No-one is about here
Well - sometimes "oneself" might be the best person to talk to I guess....
I'm an admirer of Erin Brockovich (secretary that was thought to be "dumb blonde" type - and then took on and beat a huge company that was spoiling the environment:T). If you read her biog. then she specifically says that she makes/made a habit of this - and seems to have got some good "feedback" from doing so. So there must be some merit in the idea - and at least no-one is going to say "You're wrong = fact" just because your personal opinion is different to their personal opinion (which they seem to think IS a Fact).0 -
Afternoon all
Freezing fog this morning, soon cleared but left frosty pavements so I was [STRIKE]mincing along[/STRIKE], being careful where I put my feet
Breakfast was cuppa & a bourbon, the biscuit, not the hooch
I went out intending to get nearly everything missed so far, plus some "just in case" stuff, which impulse buy was a 1kg huge box of cream / butter shortbread from Icland. On offer today at £2, I will take them to DD for Christmas http://groceries.iceland.co.uk/patersons-scottish-cream-shortbread-selection-2-x-500g-kg-/p/59807
Milk was a just in case, as was Greek yoghurt & a spare packet of stuffing. A spot of YS luck, two jars of Adsa Extra special cherry conserve, 55% whole cherries fruit. 50p a jar. Well in date, obviously not selling this time of year and clearing shelf space
But empty shelf where the tinned sardines should be, just as I wanted to top up, same with pork pies. Never mind I have enough food to last even if I do not go out again until 2018
Also bought a LM "beef" roast, on offer, another just in case for Christmas, never had one and LM food is generally tasty

Lunch was more of the HM sardine pate, on toast, with sliced beetroot drizzled with cider vinegar
Dinner will be my wrinkly tomatoes used in a tomato tart thingy, think poncey puff pastry pesto pizzaEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
As I'm out at a carol concert this evening I have had a freezer rummage and found a portion of hm curry and I've had that with a naan for dinner, followed by a sponge pudding (also discovered during the freezer rummage) with some Greek yoghurt.
I've been trying to decide if I need anymore shopping before Christmas. I think it's a case of I probably don't *need* anything but there are a few things I would *like*. I shall probably end up going out really early in the morning to beat the crowds, and get a few odds and ends. Probably mince pies, stollen and some cream. Although there are a few other things that I would enjoy. I'll have a think about it when I get back this evening and try to decide.0 -
More use-up stuff. Dinner nearly ready and I'm using up some soya "mince" and a couple of half cans of tomatoes from the freezer and a bit of the "cheese mountain" will be grated on top. Some spinach wilted into the sauce. Suspect I shall land up chucking out the rest of the packet of soya mince.
CBA to do owt with it - and I've got some decent bread. So I'll have a couple of slices of that with it.0 -
My tomato tart was OK, but not as nice as I had anticipated. That's the problem with CFO, only yourself to blame. It will get eaten though
Followed by toast with "use up" lemon curd
The lemon curd space in the fridge has now been filled with half a jar of LO pesto:(Hollyharvey wrote: »I shall probably end up going out really early in the morning to beat the crowds, and get a few odds and ends. Always room for those items this time of yearEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good evening everyone,
Someone please remind me next year not to buy any gifts that a) fragile and b) an awkward shape:eek:, I cannot believe how long it has taken me to wrap a small amount of gifts:o.
Bramble vodka is still not bottled so that needs to be done tomorrow morning as I want some of the bottles to go in the gifts that are getting picked up tomorrow.
Still not decided what I want for my dinner so reckon it will be a late (even for me) meal....0 -
It will come as no surprise to some that a 250g bag of "Xmas choccies" has been scoffed. They're little pieces of chocolate - as if you'd melted chocolate then dropped it through a collander and it'd broken into tiny solid tubes... all gone. They weren't all that great, so I demoted them from Xmas choccies to scoffing choccies.
Today I've had:
2x Toast, scrambled eggs, baked beans
2x baked spuds topped with beans and cheese
Xmas choccies.... probably about 100g.0 -

Not much at all then!
Rationing yourself for 'c' day I suppose?'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
I scoffed my spiced beans in a bowl, ok but not tasty enough. I cba because I have been so blinking bogged down with computer stuff. I have to produce simple documents to e mail to our management company after christmas, managed fine with word on the now defunct old laptop. Blooming windows 10 is pushing office 365 which involves annual subs that cost an arm and a leg, basic word used to be free. Installing/uninstalling/claiming a refund has been my afternoon, all via amazon and a dodgy download of office 2016. Went to apache open office and got myself a free programme that looks the image of word plus more besides
but it has been a frustrating afternoon and good job I forgot about my cadbury fingers and maltesers or I would have eaten to bursting
Yay, betty`s goodies are being delivered tomorrow, something to look forward to and I still need to get into eating that cabbage, its not as though it has solid leaves, they are sweet and gentle0 -
Decided to turn my weekend purchase of 29p cauliflower into cauliflower cheese soup, a bbcgoodfood recipe. Well it was bland, very bland even after the addition of bacon to garnish. Do not try at home.
Of course now have this for the next few days -although given the whole pot came to less than £2 I may ditch at some point. As one of you said previously - CFO we only have ourselves to blame!
The worst of it was I came back this afternoon and the whole house smelt cabbagy - well, I suppose cauliflowery really:( Not pleasant.
Then my neighbour came to the door, so I started apologising profusely for the smell and maybe protested a little too much that it was simply a soup not me or my housekeeping ability or lack thereof - although the state of my hall sort of went against any idea I might actually have any housekeeping capability since there were unemptied bags, muddy boots and drying washing in full view. And it had to be the neighbour who is part of a young couple, loads of money, fully renovated and modernised house ...:(:(:(
If I didn't already feel I was the sad old cow of the street I think I have just confirmed it:eek:0
