money, organic edamame beans are not gm, ordinary ones are sprayed very many times. They grow them on the farm behind me and I don`t think they are gm but they are certainly sprayed a lot
You are infecting me with the christmas spirit, I feel the vibes and am trying not to touch my stash or the port. I decided to get a bit busy, so I don`t roam the house and scoff. I sorted all my dvds` s today and just finished watching f4nny hill, bawdy allright but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Made me glad to be alive today and not then0 -
Six digestive biscuits no longer live in my cupboard. Oops!0

... so I'll pick two tins up (meat balls) then if they have the gravy ones...
Although its not something I'd be able to do I think a few of these might actually go well in a pie of some description somehow. Having said that they are quite nice either on their own or added alongside something 'home made' even if its just some home-made mash or such.
I have some very old 'blue edged' plates I like but there's only two now, there used to be four at least but over the past few years breakages etc, I'm unable to find some exact replacements given they are probably older than me or certainly 60's / 70's 'vintage' at the youngest.I dropped one of these when drying it. I know they are not a rare design or anything just old, I'll have to look a bit closer now to find a couple of them, they are about 9inch (24cm give or take) diameter.

Guess I'll have to carry on waiting to buy my edameme beans until organic ones are available here - that could be a while:cool:. I know they do exist! But, meanwhile, perhaps I ought to have a go at growing my own and I'll have to make do with peas instead any time I decide to use them.0

I wouldn't even know how to pronounce that, to be honest
Never heard of them before this thread... so no idea if they look like baked beans or long green beans... or something else.
EDIT: Blimey ... I expected them to look like "white baked beans" ...but they're like dark green broad beans in a pod. Didn't expect that.0 -

They are young soya beans Pastures.
Visualise green baked beans - hence I've read that, for those of us that find it difficult to buy them, one can substitute peas instead.
EDIT; Just seen your edit - and they are also sold still in their pods. But more commonly known shelled.0 -
Good morning everyone,
I'm heading to my friend's for lunch today and will no doubt be very well fed so no plans to cook anything this evening except a snack. I know she's making goats cheese tart which I adore:D.
Money - what about baby broad beans as a sub?0 -
money, I never buy fresh edamame, eg if buying from a market stall then how can you be sure they are really organic. I buy online organic in a tin and then I am sure. They are lovely beans and soya (edamame) is a first class protein, the very best legume and with protein equivalent to meat and obviously much healthier and cheaper. Broad beans are lacking in amino acids, I no longer grow them, they are good as a side dish but need additions to make up to a better protein meal
I have dahl out of the freezer today, lovely with some rice, warming comforting food, it will be the last meal of the day for me. Lunch with be a simple stir fry with added fermented tofu cubes. I have soup in the fridge but only one meal and cannot fit that in today, leek and potato made yesterday, so will be good tomorrow with some organic edamame pasta added
In betweeners: plate of fruit, one piece of parkin, half a piece of toast with a slice of jarlsberg, some very dark chocolate. I am very hopeful of a cycle ride today, have to stretch my legs but not until 11.30 and will be back for lunch. Have to wait for a bit of warmth0 -
Morning all, the freezing fog is back this morning, and I've got my bedding in washer:o
The beef last night was lovely I even cooked us a couple of pigs in blankets to taste (research purposes only) I had prepared 72! So figured it was the least I could do , not sure how many to cook on the day, 48 would be 4 each but everyone loves them and 1 or 2 may get snaffled before they get to the table! !
Dd2 s beef is now sliced in gravy in the freezer.
Just had 2 toast and cheese spread, dgson had hazelnut spread on his.
Was thinking of doing some sliced pots and onion in the slow cooker with some stock .Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
