I don't think you can take the NMW in isolation and blame it. The real issue is that when you're in a job you can very rarely see any route to improvement. A couple of hundred years ago a chap turned around the British armed services because he pointed out that if you were a Toff you'd get a top job and be an officer; if you were of the great unwashed classes you'd never stand a chance of raising through any ranks. Only 2 men had EVER gone from the bottom to the top .... and he said that you needed to show people a progression route and it should be achievable. People shouldn't just be seen to be getting jobs because of a factor those below couldn't obtain.

Many on NMW simply don't see any point of behaving/doing a good job all the time as there's no future for them beyond this NMW job, or other NMW jobs ... but not really much hope of ever doing something bigger/better, so why bother? Why not lark about if this is your lot?

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Have you met my father Pastures?:rotfl::rotfl:He was in the Armed Forces for some time (from the "wrong" background) and got rather fed-up with watching men so much worse than him in better positions than him (ie because they werent from the "wrong" background).

Cue for one of them being foolish enough to explain the "path to progression" to an audience of lower ranks and it included my father. Daft Idiot from Better Background explained it carefully to them - cue for my father standing up and going "Excuse me sir - I've done all that - twice over now and I still haven't had my promotion that you are promising if we do all that". Exit stage left of stout party - and my father got his promotion:rotfl:

I can't think who I've learnt those sort of ideas from;)

    Result :j:j

Smoked Salmon purchased and guess what, it was yellow stickered down to £3 for 200g :D:D

So I bought 2 packs (rude not too;))...400g of Smoked Salmon for £6 is a bargain in my book...:T

Yes it is an expensive treat but it is the time of year for treats, I don't have many so that is mine :)

I've no idea why it was reduced other than the BB or UB date (or whatever it is?) is 20th December..not a problem for me as both packs have been squeezed into my tiny but tightly packed freezer :)

I may also have bought a cheap bottle of pretend Bailey's too :o

ETA: forgot crackers again after being so elated by my find...I never usually find any YS bargains!

Your secret is safe with me, my lips are sealed, except to squeeze in a couple of Christmas mince pies with Greek yoghurt later;)

The lild de luxe Wellington was chestnut mushrooms + brie + cranberry

It was tasty, I am easily pleased if something is encased in pastry. I would buy again if price was OK, must have been at the time I bought it in run up to Christmas

    Good evening everyone,
Son has been delayed so decorations won't be going up tonight. Sensible lad that he is he will be home for dinner;)
Cracking bargain re the smoked salmon Karcher:)

I have only once had an incident with "eaten" food- I had bought a bag of apples in Safeway (yes it was a while ago!). The bag was intact but one of the apples quite clearly had a bite out of it which obviously hadn't been made by a straying child:eek::eek:.... I got my money back & a voucher. The kiosk assistant asked me if I wanted to keep the intact apples:eek::eek:, I declined:)

Lunch was a quick sandwich and clementines in between doing not very much of anything, another day that seems to have rattled by. I need to make hummous to take to my pals' tomorrow and also do some wrapping/ card writing before I see them :)

I also bought some own brand garlic and herb cream cheese to go with my Smoked Salmon.

(I really wish I hadn't eaten all my water biscuits now:(...another trip to the shop will be required!)

Anyone want to place bets on it all not lasting till a week on Monday :p :rotfl:

Nope I've never placed a bet on my life and somehow I suspect this may not be the one to start with ;);) :rotfl::rotfl:
