I NEEEEED .... a chocolate Santa.
I'll get one this week. L1dl and 4ldi tend to both sell them so I'll check those out.
I got bought one about 2 years ago and it really jollied up the base of the tree area0 -
wow farway, excellent bread, lovely crust and crumb
paul H can eat his hat
I`ve got 2/3 of a box of weetabix protein to finish, so started at breakfast, then a couple of fresh fruits and a dried apricot for mid morning snack. Soon to be followed by a healthy veg juice, needs must as I have re-started getting a veg box and the next one is due on wednesday, it guarantees me making a veg effort. In my juice, carrots, celery, last of the fennel and 4 stalkless cavalo nero. It was a bit bitter this time and darker green because of the cavalo but went down the hatch, there is fibre in this btw but not too much for my system. I am not that fond of cavaolo nero but its good for me
Nice lunch is cooking, mackerel in foil to stop that smell and pre-fried and cooked celeriac is reheating on an enamel plate. A bit of broccoli to go with that. Rest of the day I don`t have to think of any more veg or fruit, although I have made some berry compote to go with a bit of ice cream and it will likely be just buttered sd toast for my last meal
I am getting a waitrose delivery on friday, cba with the increasing crowds, lol I have padded the cost for free delivery with a bottle of gin and dishwashing tablets. I popped into various supermarkets last couple of days and now have some maltesers and cadburys fingers tucked away as well as a few sweeties
What can I do about a delivery from abel and cole, the delivery driver? He has been to my house only 3 times and is fine, left me a card (unwanted) with his name on, rang the bell and asked if I would be in next week. They normally just leave the boxes in the porch, even if I am out. Obviously the card is a big hint for a tip, he is from romania. That card was, to me, just like someone putting his hand out. I have all sorts of delivery drivers and have had the same faces here for many months, hermes for example. They are all very pleasant and I would never dream of giving a tip and they never hint. Why do I find it so hard to face someone like this AnC delivery man? I know I am going to be watching from a window, he won`t see me and I will not be answering the bell but I feel such a coward0 -
I woke up yesterday with a streaming, stinking cold so spent the last day or so cuddled up in fleecy dressy gown with lots of hot drinks and simple quick things to eat like scrambled eggs on toast etc.
I warned dds that Sunday lunch was off as I did not want to spread the germs.
Snow is forecast here later so I made myself get warmly dressed and go to the shop to get provisions which means I don't have to go out unless I choose.
I now have cold cures, tissues, eggs, potatoes, bread, milk and rolls with a couple of ready meals to stick in the freezer. Don't judge me
I defrosted some chicken and have some mushrooms to use up so might do a stir fry or mild curry if I feel up to it later but still sneezing like crazy."This site is addictive!"

Farway Thank you very much.
I am going to try it and I'll let you know how I get on.
I've never really made bread successfully but as it's yeast free I might have better luck, so thanks.
And you preempted my question regarding a buttermilk substitute, you're a star...you must be a mind reader too

I always fancy some rock cakes, but whenever I remember that it's a time when I've not got all the ingredients in the house.
I might cook some for Xmas week .... or I might not.
Just cooked my first food of the day: One crust/toasted, 1/3rd tin of beans, 1 egg scrambled.
I've also done a freezer food inventory and removed a couple of things for today's food later.0 -
Bitsa coming up for lunch today. Cold extra jacket potatoes I did yesterday. Last little bit of baked mushroom etc from yesterday. Bit of sauerkraut. Got a bit of use-up "icecream" I made that has been in freezer.
Think dinner will be last couple of sweet potato flatbreads I bought readymade some weeks back - with filling of canned tomato/mushroom/canned black beans/onion/garlic. Must have some cabbage that needs using up steamed with it - though it doesnt go together.
Freezer now 100% organised and I can lay my hands on anything.
Two lunches out this week - one will be buffet lunch of "stuff I dont eat" that other people bring and so must give some thought to healthy stuff I will eat that I can take. One being a meal out with friends - must check out the menu in detail as to what I'm going to have (knows there are some options - as I chose the place:)).
Sorry Pastures - I don't put up any Christmas decorations at all:rotfl: CBA. I put up my cards as they come in and thats that - still not had one single one addressed correctly yet:rotfl:0 -

Glad
That all sounds lovely.
money
The sweet potato flatbreads sound good. I have not come across them readymade.
I have put some dinner party chicken in the oven - just chicken breasts sliced horizontally and filled with garlic paste and cheese and then wrapped in bacon and baked.
I also chopped chicken with onions, mushrooms, broccoli, sugar snap peas, mange tout and peas, added garlic and salt and pepper and sauteed it then added chicken stock and have left it simmering. I found some pasta shells so will use these to make a pasta dish.
The cooked chicken breasts will make a couple of meals with actifry chips or baked potato or would be nice sliced thinly in sandwiches."This site is addictive!"
