SingleSue: What you do is post what you've eaten that day (knowing you'll post forces you to make a bit more effort...) ... and read what others have said. Then, when somebody mentions crumpets.... get some in and eat those.
We all eat crumpets here
In short: CFO is a pain in the butt, most of us "snack" on things and are generally in a CBA mood and/or are pretty dissatisfied at what we've had.
Because.... that's pretty much the way it is for most, a lot of the time.
Some people "get out/get fed elsewhere" - and they don't mind it so much0 -
I hadn't had crumpets for several years until 3 weeks ago.
A friend came to stay for the weekend and who loves them. I grilled them on the wrong side then put cheese on top and grilled til just melting.
Yum.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -

Well today is a bit embarrassing because it is ultra naughty....my brother treated me to sav and chips for lunch!
That was my lot for today, oops, nope there was one other thing, a sherbert sweet at work and of course, copious amounts of tea.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Glad you were treated to lunch Sue.
Could have full English for breakfast, porridge or a baked apple with sultanas- few minutes in the m/wave. Decisions...
Dinner tonight will be a beef stew done in the s/c.
Enjoying my third cuppa of the day in the meantime.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
I am supremely lucky to be offered free stuff from manufacturers to review. Some of it I would never have bought, and one such item is my Nespresso coffee capsule machine.
Aldi sell the capsules in various flavours and I had a post-free delivery yesterday of 60 festive flavoured capsules. My favourite is the gingerbread, but I also have spiced and cardamom flavours.
A proper coffee first thing in the morning is a lovely treat and at Aldi prices it’s a very affordable treat as well.
Another returnee to crumpets here, it wasn’t this thread that inspired it, however, but an online friend in Tasmania, now aged 80, who regularly has crumpets through the Tasmanian winter.
I have run out at the moment. That’s okay though. There will be other pleasures today.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
I had run out of sliced bread so I had a roll toasted with marmalade and two cups of hot tea.
It's snowing here!
I have my Ocado delivery today. I fancied some salady bits with houmous and crackers. Probably not the right weather for that, but I might have it if I still feel like it.:D
I have a leftover bowl of root veg soup from yesterday too.
I might make a veggie bean chili with rice tonight and leave a bowl in the fridge for lunch tomorrow.
Lots of tea today as well.:)
Looks yummy!0 -
I need to know what's in the freezer ... two 1Kg bags of chips pretty much fill the top drawer. The other drawer has all the other stuff in, but I don't really know what's in there. There's still a bit of brisket and a bit of chicken. There's ALWAYS a huge bag of peas (1Kg of peas takes about 2 months to get through even though I eat peas a lot). I've one burger and half a pack of fish fingers, there's one hash brown .... then there's beef gravy/stock, a couple of portions of tomato juice (saved from when I open tins of tomatoes) and some sliced broccoli stalks (which I didn't want to just throw away as they can be chucked into a random thing in the SC at some point) ... I've cooked the Xmas mashed swede and there's another box of mashed swede, but I can't remember what else is in there. Ah, a pack of crumpets of course! Oh and the three 1/3rds of the cheese/onion quiche I bought and froze in the week "for Xmas week".
If my freezer broke down and defrosted it'd cost me about £5 to replace the entire contents. There's never anything of "value" in there.
Breakfast today will be: The final crust of the loaf (no bread in the house now), some of the beans I opened yesterday, the last egg in the box.
Lunch/later will be: chicken, stuffing, mash, peas, mashed swede, gravy
Fish fingers - don't forget fish fingers everybody ... well all love a fish finger butty don't we
