Plus this one, sort of, without spiced vinegar

Last nights huge fruit crumble turned out a success [another use for apples SG], in fact I had a spot more for lunch, plenty left for tonight if I fancy some
Digestives, spotted a yummy Millionaires' cake recipe in this week's Waitrose mag, the least fattening bit is digestive biscuit base. Looks fairly easy and I may just have a go at it, for once all the ingredients are in my house, no need for quail eggs, yak drool or unicorn sparkle0 -
I
A 4 fish finger sarnie for lunch, with tom ketchup. Not as nice I was anticipating, which reminded me why I still have a packet of fingers in the freezer after all this time. They are not £land 50 for a quid ones, genuine B**d's Eye cod ones, but not really for me, only bought them because on offer yonks ago0 -
My mum used to make a nice apple/onion/tomato chutney, with some sultanas in there too .... it was great spooned onto sausages. BUT .... I knew I'd never ever make it, so didn't keep her recipe when I cleared the house.
I'm not a chutney maker. I get through about 2 small jars max/year so am happy to buy random flavours on a whim.
I decided in Sainsbobs EXACTLY what I really fancied.... a giant Yorkie + stuff. I wasn't sure what stuff.... but I knew I wanted that. But when I looked, all they sold were the Aunt Bessies' packs of two - and I wanted a cheapo own brand one ... they had none.
Once home I checked via mysupermarket and there are none listed on Sainsbobs. So I am now a 12-16 mile round trip from being able to purchase a cheap/own brand giant Yorkie! It's outrageous. At this rate I might have to resort to making my own. The only thing that's stopped me to date is not having the right size/shape of dish to get the result I'd wish re size/depth.
Picked up the jalapeno burgers though from Mr A1di. Also grabbed a pack of 35p crumpets with a 30% off sticker, so 24p and they're in the freezer.
A choc ice has already been consumed.
Yearning for a giant Yorkie now.... might go and look through the dish sizes/shapes I've got, but I really can't recall having one the right size as that size is larger than a "serves one" dish and 99% of all my cookware is "just for one" sized.
EDIT: Maybe the Fray Bentos pie tin I kept ("in case") might do .... that's the closest I've got.0 -
I've just had an early dinner of sausages, mash and steamed veg. I didn't fancy lunch today in the end so I just had a banana but of course I was hungry by mid afternoon then
. The trouble is, I'll be hungry this evening now. I can always have the sandwich I would have had for lunch though so it doesn't really matter.
I've done another check on the lists of what is in the two freezers and there is quite a lot of stuff that I don't really fancy. I think it's more autumn/winter food so hopefully I will start to fancy it then. I probably will. It's mainly diced braising steak, turkey, lamb and mince, all things that will get used up in stews and casseroles.0 -

I think I'm losing the plot. I read this and was thinking what has a Fray Bentos pie tin got to do with the shape of a chocolate bar........ then the penny dropped.Make £2025 in 2025

As I was keen to taste these burgers...tea was a jalapeno/beef burger in a big bread roll, topped with a slice of tomato, thick lump of cheese and a dollop of habanero chutney .... and chips.
These, again, are the 4ldi ones.... I'd recommend those too.
Maybe I'm easily pleased.... or maybe burger quality's improved from 20-30 years ago ...0 -

I think burger quality has improved from 20 to 30 years ago. They used to be quite dire, and you didn't get much choice. It was really just your standard 'beef' burgers (I'm not sure that it was beef in them a lot of the time though!)0 -

I spent 10 seconds surveying the contents of that bit of the freezer today. The lamb ones were £1.69/4 and these beef ones are in brighter packaging and £1.79. By brighter I mean that the printing/colours are bolder/stronger. The two were adjacent, but not the same brand. Box has a splash of gold/shiny area that says "specially selected". They are quarter pounders.
I'll upload a box photo... but that's a bit of effort for now. Later maybe
I can still taste it and it's still exciting0 -

The weather perked up a bit so got a sit on my [STRIKE]verandah [/STRIKE] covered deck (which sounds much more posh than it actually is .......) so got my daily dose of fresh air, I also tidied up my tomato plants as the greenhouse was turning into a jungle only to discover when I came back in I had a large caterpillar clinging to my hair :eek:, I'll need to check the plants tomorrow for the wee beggars though it might have landed when I was wandering up the garden I I'm sure I felt something hit my head!
Lasagne just needs to a quick put together and bake, I thought I had some garlic bread in the freezer but apparently not I cba making any so will do without. I'll roast what's left of the beetroot I bought last weekend while the oven is hot and can then decide what to do with it- it will probably just ended up getting randomly scoffed though after my Drs appointment tomorrow as pink wee always disconcerts them......;)0
