Money You're so right with the sodders I think! After my tooth abscess trauma and the cat needing emergency surgery I have been having a few forgetful moments and I'm only 51

I am an avid writer of lists and post it's too, especially when I'm back at uni with deadlines looming and normal life occurring at home! I cant even remember to take my lunch with me unless I tie a carrier bag to the handle of my handbag at night to remind me in the morning :rotfl:

Morning all. I woke a little later than usual today as my youngest son rang me from America at 3am. We had agreed the time and I knew I could have a sleep in this morning so it's good. He's only got 2.5 weeks left at camp and then he's off travelling for a month. It's gone so quickly but he's loving it and enjoying the experience. He keeps saying that he doesn't know how I coped with 3 teenagers at once. Karma haha......

Not sure what lunch is going to be today I shall have a look soon. Dinner is a bolognese pasta bake - just a way of making a meal slightly different in CFO style. Plans today are to do some washing and get it hung to dry in the spare room (it grieves me using the dryer in July!) then ironing I think. An at home day anyway.

I made a coffee and spotted the final two digestives in the pack on the worktop (this is the end of the 2nd pack of biscuits where I'd only bought the 1st, then 2nd, to make cheesecakes that haven't happened...)

So I carefully took the biscuits out and put them on the worktop, then disposed of the empty packet, turned round and picked up my coffee, then the biscuits, turned ... and the biscuits caught on the edge of the fridge, flew out of my hand and landed on the floor - at the same time, the coffee splodged on the floor.

So I looked at it and how sad my biscuits looked down there ... on the floor, with some edges knocked off :(

Then I thought "s0d it", cleaned up the mess and got a piece of kitchen paper and gave each biscuit a good rubbing down :)

PN it was the last two and you'd have wanted them more once you'd decided on them ;)

Blimey have I stumbled upon the wrong thread  :p

Don't get me started on cat shoite...I don't care if you can't dictate where they go..I do not want their excrement in my garden nor have to stop growing anything (veg or plants) because the local cats want to use my soil/patio/gravel/chippings as a toilet
    ......

So anyway, where were we? :p

Not feeling even vaguely peckish now...No CFO going on here tonight!

Lol I didn't mean we shouldn't complain about cats on here. I meant its pointless complaining to the owners. I complain about cats all the time. I don't want em in my garden. I go out on my porch in the morning and do a freaky rage dance and feel sick because of the smell.

Havent posted much about cfo last couple of weeks as, well not doing much cooking. I am up to my neck in crafting items for Christmas fundraiser so its been something or other on toast, an omelette, something pinged, grab a banana . lump of cheese type
    of thing of thing .

Must admit I am enjoying the freedom of notdeciding what to shop for what to cook and best of all dishwasher hasn't been on at all and the kitchen wont need a steam clean this month.

Another bonus is making new friends at the group sessions, someone always brings CAKE, have had so many lovely homemade cakes I might need to go back to slimming world. I don't bake so my contribution was a jar of coffee.

I love the idea that someone not as lucky as me will get to eat this Christmas.

Its kids over cats any time for me one because I really like them and love to hear them playing and two if you do get a problem you can always have a word with parents. Its pointless complaining about cats as they do their own thing where they want. theres nothing their owners can do about it My neighbour has three and shes at work all day my eg plot is now out of bounds to veg due to cat poo and I spend a small fortune on disinfecting my porch the smell is just awful some days.
Oh Meg that's a shame re your veg patch , thankfully although there are a few cats that come about there has been no fouling so far. I think the fact I'm all in pots puts them off!
:rotfl:...and it's reassuring that both singer and audience are basically middle-aged (ie not elderly) and the audience all seem to be laughing in recognition. So - maybe it's not <whispers> "old age"

I'm developing a theory that "absent-minded incidents" run in line with how many Sodders one has had in life recently.

A "Sodder" being short for a "sodding thing that shouldn't have happened" - be it utilities mucking-up/health problems/workmen problems/etc/etc.

A "Mega Sodder" is a huge "sodding thing that shouldn't have happened" (such as illness that's incurable or it could be cured but the NHS is refusing to spend money on doing so and you can't afford to pay that bill for them and get it dealt with anyway).

So - my theory is that "absent mindedness" happens when there have been too many Sodders in quick succession (ie the brainpower/'focus destined to be used on one's Life is going on dealing with Sodders instead iyswim). Followed by "distraction activities" to take one's mind off the Sodders whilst waiting for them to be gone. Sodder quotient for the last month = 7 things.

Mind you - I reckon Squirrel Small is racking up the Sodders at the moment too - courtesy of the swimming cats and "spraying cat".
    "Sodders" love it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Good afternoon everyone,

Still on my mission to use up lurking bits in my fridge. so a lone rasher of streaky bacon, with an egg and some rather wabbit mushrooms on a piece of stottie cake for lunch.
Evolving LOs on the menu today as I've turned some LO ratatouille bake with some added Italian sausage from the freezer into lasagne as I had it to use up and quite a lot of milk that was reaching it's use by date so I've made a big pan of white sauce. Some for the lasagne and some for the freezer ( there'll be a portion of lasagne LO but I'll either freeze that or have it for lunch tomorrow.):)
Feet up and book this afternoon though I'll be sitting in the conservatory rather than the garden as it's turned rather cold today.

Breezy here, sun's come out though.
No conservatory; just a modern "2 up, 2 down" with a living room ~12'x13' that is east-facing.

Going out in a bit, just got a bit of paper/pen to make a list... and it looks like I'll make a quiche as I've put eggs/milk on there to do that. Also new/more burgers to try ....and some choc ices.

I have no bread, so that might be useful .... but then you have to eat it. Tough decision every time.

Don't forget the digestive biscuits, that you ran out of this morning ;)

I'll give it a miss; just opened the cupboards to get ideas for what else I need/want/forgot ...and right in front is a jar of lemon curd I bought 2 months ago as I was planning making some mini desserts. *sighs*.

One day I'll end up with all the ingredients in the house -AND- the motivation to make what I bought them for.

I've added coffee to my list; I'd been putting off buying it (CBA to pick the jar up and take it as far as the till/car/house).... but I've only one spoon left now :)

    Just finishing belated lunch.

Fresh fruit salad - again (well 'tis healthy) with yogurt and cacao nibs on top. Now onto the sourdough bread again - just as is and not toasted (because it's only just been made).

Food plans for rest of day - must use up the final plums I've got sitting there and that are starting to "go" and make plum chia jam. Must also make one of the vegan "cheese sauce" recipes I've been collecting and think of some veggies to serve with it.

Shouldnt laugh - but still grinning at the thought of the likely expression on Boy Cat's face after his last "swimming expedition". Cats faces can be just as expressive as humans - after that photo doing the rounds of the expression on a cats face when it's shown the newcomer to its home (ie their newborn baby). That cat's face is an absolute picture of horror amounting to "What's THAT? Do take it away at once. Agh!" LOL

P.S Faraway Do you have a recipe for apple chutney as my daughters neighbour gives her lots of windfalls every year. In fact last year he told her to pick what she wanted as he struggles to do it now at his age. My daughter didn't really want any but her Nan and I did lol.

I used the BBC one http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/spicedapplechutney_7720

Plus this one, sort of, without spiced vinegar
    http://blog.rachelcotterill.com/2009/08/secret-recipe-apple-chutney.html

And mooch on Saint Dehlia's is always worth a look

Last nights huge fruit crumble turned out a success [another use for apples SG], in fact I had a spot more for lunch, plenty left for tonight if I fancy some

    Banana for breakfast

A 4 fish finger sarnie for lunch, with tom ketchup. Not as nice I was anticipating, which reminded me why I still have a packet of fingers in the freezer after all this time. They are not £land 50 for a quid ones, genuine B**d's Eye cod ones, but not really for me, only bought them because on offer yonks ago

Then some of the crumble & yoghurt

Dinner will be a YS pizza I found in Asda, with added cheese / onion & sliced tom. Possibly with the LO half tin of beans and just maybe some salad on the side

All this lamb chat reminds me, Lild lamb shanks on offer this week. £2.69 450 grammes [£5.98kg], I have had them in the past, a good buy IMO, just right size for one, and the preferred cooking method is nuke them. I'll get two packs tomorrow if any left, they keep and are chilled

Sun out for now, more wet forecast but garden is OK so far, all beans & berries picked and up to date, trees pruned, time to sit down.

Digestives, spotted a yummy Millionaires' cake recipe in this week's Waitrose mag, the least fattening bit is digestive biscuit base. Looks fairly easy and I may just have a go at it, for once all the ingredients are in my house, no need for quail eggs, yak drool or unicorn sparkle :D
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens
