I used to love spam fritters when my Granny made them when we went round for dinner!:p
I made a soup for lunch, but asked my hubbie to get us some chips from the chippy on the way home. Mmm, I'm looking forward to him getting home.:)0 -
I had one of those handrails installed before I came out of hospital last year, also by health folk. Mine is very sturdy tubular metal construction, cemented into the ground. Solid as a rock, and very useful to stop me tumbling into the flower bed.
That sounds exactly what I'm getting fitted
SPAM always reminded me of guide camps it used to come in huge tins that were a beggar to get into and get the SPAM out. I've not had it for years though did have some PEK chopped pork not that long ago in a sarnie with tomato and salad cream. I enjoyed it:D,
There have been the most spectacular sleet showers this afternoon, almost thundery in their intensity.:( Thankfully I managed to avoid getting drenched. I'm pleased as always with my hair cut, it always gives me a lift and at least this time there wasn't so much hair to come off
Hummus for tomorrow has been made so just need to wrap pressies in the morning.
I got the biggest sweet potato I think I've ever seen in my shopping so I'll be making a big tray of wedges later and will freeze those I don't scoff. I love these so will need to be disciplined0 -
Good morning everyone,
It's decidedly chilly here too:(.
Glad- pineapple slices freeze really well if you are going to struggle to use it before it goes over.
I'm heading to get my haircut at lunch time so no breakfast for me and I'll have a brunch in an hour or so - probably omelette and toast.:) Tonight I think will be the gammon steak Farway put me in the notion for and I think I still have a frozen pineapple ring so that will go together nicely.:)
Thanks caroncI just sat down to google freezing pineapple but wanted to catch up here first and saw this :T
I have a moneysaving/ use up / sweet craving use for bananas, if I have a bananas that are starting to turn, or I see bags in the supermarket being sold for pennies I peel, slice and freeze them, a couple of bananas to a bag. Then I take a bag out of the freezer and whiz in the food processer with a small amount of soya milk and pop back in the freezer, it tastes like the creamiest banana icecream, with no dairy or additives
so I'm wondering if I can do the same with pineapple?I am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. I forgot to mention, while out earlier, I popped into £land to get the loaf tin I'd spotted the other day .... but they didn't have any! So now I don't know if I've missed those forever, or just until the next delivery comes
In these cheap shops you really do have to "grab it when you see it" - there's often no mulling time!0 -
As it was so cold first thing this morning I had porridge for breakfast. I think we are now into porridge rather than Greek yoghurt breakfast weather. I will probably still have yoghurt and berries as I like it. It will just be instead of some toast or a crumpet as a snack.
Lunch was some toast and marmalade.
Dinner was a ready meal I bought y/s as I cba to cook at the moment. Today it was lasagne. At least I've got some different things to choose from that don't require motivation/effort, or even washing up because I eat it straight out of the container it comes in.

Only one way to find out

I've got to the stage where I begrudge having to wash up two mugs after eating! I can do fish fingers, chips and peas in only one dish, that I then eat from, but as I am re-using old containers there's always washing up0 -
Re pineapple - I would think one could make a sort of pudding out of it similar to what I did before with mango.
I used defrosted frozen mango and canned coconut milk and a bit of sweetening as I recall (my definition of sweetening being maple syrup or date syrup usually). Blitzed together and put in freezer for a while. Dont recall exact recipe - but that was pretty much it - and the friend I'd made it for (courtesy of avoiding various foods she avoids) thought it was lovely.0
