Back now.... from CFO to MPM (Made a Pig of Myself) ... I really know how to "have a blow out" when presented with a huge raft of food cooked by somebody else :)
Sounds like you have had a good evening. I had to cook my own Sunday roast :(. A friend phoned earlier to see if I wanted to go out for lunch one day next week but we have decided to leave that until the week after as it's half term here.
  • Surely NOBODY these days eats like this! In these enlightened times of healthy eating, when we're offered so much fresh, organic, sustainable and "good for you" products.... who on earth would choose such a route????

I don't believe anybody eats like that now...!!

*shoves favourite choccies under the cushion.....*
    :)

    It's okay Pastures - I'll pretend I didnt see them:rotfl::rotfl:

Each to their own - and that's just what I'm telling myself personally...:)

MTSTM - you certainly seem to be putting a lot of thought and effort into it.:) Just watch all the dietary changes don't impact on the depressive illness. One of nephew's battles (mainly successfully) depression but his care team were very keen that his diet was high in B12 and Vitamin D when he was very unwell. He's always vulnerable to it flaring up when daylight reduces (he is using a light box to help). I'm not clued up on the complete dietary ins and outs of veganism but suspect these are both mainly found in meat/fish/dairy/soy. I know you've been struggling to find organic soy.

I don't have depressive illness. The jury is still out on whether I think there is such a thing per se - I've not decided. Nope - in my case - it's just a low-level depressive temperament and I'm rather aware that I can pretty much trace an exact age when that started (coinciding with being a young adult woman - of the attractive variety as I was at the time:cool::cool:). Now I'm "old bag stage:(" is possibly the reason I'm more aware of this now:cool:. Apparently I'm not totally offputting looks-wise yet - as I got chatted-up by a guy the other day - but this time I got angry and my response was a bit "cutting" (he was married man - after "bit on the side":p:cool:).

I am checking on things re Vit B12 and D. Hence I do tend to use a lot of (fortified version of) nutritional cheese and take Vit D tablets. I wonder at intervals about a lightbox and have been wondering more since moving to this worse climate here - can't afford it at the moment, but will have another think about whether to when I can.

Breakfast, post paracetamol, was real loose leaf pot of tea, with toast & marmalade.

Ooh, now I fancy toast and marmalade, but I don't have any, marmalade that is.

I'm going to make a lovely hot cup of tea in a minute.:)

    Hope everyone is feeling ok.
Just been catching up with the thread.!
Saturday after work went to niece s 30th in a bar in town, cue for a cocktail or three!!
From there we went to a wethersp**n's for tea, sirloin steak with jacket potato and peppercorn sauce, followed by copious amounts of wine. When I got home I had 2 packets of crisp too!!
Sunday dgson came he had spicy chicken wings, garlic bread and salad, I just had jacket potato cheese and salad. We made the tea loaf , which didn't seems to have enough liquid in so I topped it up with milk. Which didn't come out the best !! I had a couple if pieces with butter and jam. Dgson had his with custard.

My light in kitchen over cooker, under the hood is my most used light, just lights enough for making cuppa in the dark, or in half light situation, good for checking the pans on stove.
I have some fairy lights clipped on my cupboards too, that I love to put on at this time of year when it's dark in there.

Today I've had gf cornflakes, and I'm going out for lunch with 2 friends who I haven't seen since hubby died, we get together 3 or so times a year. So although it will be nice to see them, I'm not sure conversation will be happy.

Butterscotch angel delight was the best, I only mentioned it recently to dgson, as his mum used to love it!!!

Sorry to hear that, and to rub it in I have just made another one, looking good, if a bit [STRIKE]burnt[/STRIKE] darker on one side than it should be. Maybe it was the GF flour you used? And I forgot to say I soak the fruit overnight in hot tea with the sugar dissolved in it not as per recipe. The mix is a bit stodgy, mine was a bit stodgier than normal today and I added splodge of milk, this worked fine

Wednesday 2000 "Ooh, now I fancy toast and marmalade, but I don't have any, marmalade that is." Now time to make your own, it is world's apart from shop stuff. I use cheat Ma Made tin, £2.19 at the moment, makes 6 / 7 jars

Wet old day outside, banana for breakfast, then baked the tea loaf as above, then stowed away the Ginger marmalade I made yesterday, very industrious so far

Lunch is due to be bacon / lettuce / tomato sandwich
Possibly sample the new tea loaf, with super healthy own Ginger marmalade spread on it:j

Dinner very likely a one tray jobby of coated cod fillet & frozen oven chips, with nuked frozen peas

I'm having a cba day. So I had scrambled eggs this morning, then a packet of biscuits for lunch followed by two crumpets and a tin of rice pudding this afternoon. I think this evening is likely to be either more biscuits/crumpets or cake.

I had something very upsetting in the post this morning and I think it is likely that it will take me a good week or so to settle down again so am unlikely to cook much if at all.

    (((hugs)))

Something like that can upset my eating habits for days too. Take care of yourself….and if you can't cook buy ice-cream:D
  • I live on my own now but used to be a family of 6. I still cook the same quantities - but it's 1 meal for today, another for tomorrow and 4+ for the freezer. It means I always have ready meals, cuts down on cooking times and ensures I've got a proper dinner.

Breakfast was toast, tinned tomatoes, scrambled eggs.
That's just one slice of the last loaf left and I'm out of eggs.

Tea, which I've just eaten, was kebab meatballs on a bed of spicy noodles. It was some of the kebabs I made/froze yesterday ... made a pig of myself though as I cooked six meatballs when my intention was that they'd be "4 to a portion". Oh well..... super tasty they are, so hard to resist.
