HH, sorry about the freezer & TV along with the other bits, did you buy them all around the same time? Would perhaps explain why they are going pop at the time
. Oh well such is life!

Doing a PasturesNew - and eating up stuff like us singles have to time again. So - right now I'm eating up fake meat type stuff (ie quorn) that I have in. This is long-winded stuff to get to having only the food in I'm eating now...:(. Still trying not to think about all those packets of various cheeses to eat up in the freezer.
So - main meal yesterday and today has been a sort of stew of "chicken" quorn with tomatoes, etc, etc and a salad (mainly from garden still). I reckon I've done all my research on whats what for improving my way of eating still and cautiously experimenting with new-to-me foods. Last week's total has included:
Violife Vegan "cheddar" cheese and cream cheese
Coconut water
All successes.
Think I've found pretty much all the YouTube channels that will be useful to me now. So, if anyone else is interested (ie wanting to avoid the ditsy girly ones I loathe) and I've subscribed to:
Vegie Head - Adele McConnell
Caitlin Shoemaker
Cheap Lazy Vegan
High Carb Hannah
Sweet Simple Vegan
Simply Quinoa
The Whole Food Plant Based Cooking Show
Pick up limes
Thriving on plants
The happy pear
Jaclyn Wood
Just found (errr...yet another:o) cookbook I fancied. The "modern" vegan ones are coming out pretty thick and fast now and I think this is the best I've come across to date (ie easy/quick/cheap/modern and interesting) = "The Vegan Cookbook" by Adele McConnell.
Right - must get together a packed meal for tonight - that buffet meal that I've been expecting that probably won't have anything much healthy to eat at it. So - sourdough bread/Violife cheese/olives/tomatoes I think and I think/hope there might be some fresh fruit to have after it.0 -
I don't use Youtube, my Internet speed isn't up to watching anything that moves
I also need a new PC, this one cost £200 in 2006 and was on its last legs about 6-7 years ago and needed replacing! It limps on... most days I have to reboot as it lags so much, then give it a clean up/clear out ... and then reboot, which can take me offline for an hour, not knowing when/if I'll get back online again. Really annoying.0 -
Now, is it just me me that also has pics of scantily clad ladies splattered all over that page with "come on" sort of tags? Even though I am already spoken for by some nice Russian ladies and Nigerian Princes who keep sending me e mailsPasturesNew wrote: »I don't see those - it's possible any adverts on the page are "retargetted", meaning they follow you round the Internet based on your previous websites visited and your usual preferences.
Maybe you're .... just a dirty little bugg4h visiting dirty sites when you're not here looking at food
Faraway may be but I have certainly not expressed an interest in such girls - far more of the firemen in uniform persuasion;) - but I am getting them too:o
Maybe they think people interested in 'keema' have exotic tastes in general:D
Second half of stir fry tonight if I can stir myself enough to wash the fry pan from last night!!0 -
...if I can stir myself enough to wash the fry pan from last night!!
Depends what you cook .... but that might "add flavour" ... or you can always give it a quick rub down with a bit of kitchen paper.
I scoffed my two hot sausage rolls earlier ... I really enjoyed those. I was tempted to pop out for some choc ices ... but will have to go without as I was too idle to move.0 -
Watching the duchess of duke street, quite enjoying it, nice and slow and full of innuendos
Thanks for the review, I started recording this last week and not yet watched it. I think I remember it from years back, and now I may just binge watch it tonight as nothing else on that I watch, Saturday night TV is when I am glad of my PVR
Ta Poppy, not just me with scantily clad girls then
The sun sort of peeked out, so mini gardening completed, planting out violas
Dinner was as expected, used up the last two of my spuds, one had severe "mank" but enough good bits to make my own chips in the Actifry
Whilst that was going on the PN copyright method heating up pre cooked stuff was deployed to heat the last mini quiche is the mini oven
All turned out well, and enough tum space left for a banana with chocolate Instant Whip
A tasty dinner with not a lot of effort, one could even say a Lidl effort [groan] because the Quiche, oven, and spuds were from thereEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good evening everyone,
I'm feeling a bit:o (well quite a lot actually) and also think I've seriously overdone it today so neither my balance nor back are happy
. Today has been a stark reminder in how far I have to go in getting this CFO malarkey sussed!
Anyway after a productive morning (followed by a snooze) clearing hanging tom and bean plants into the garden refuse bin as it gets emptied on Monday, inspired by various posts re freezer sorting and using things up I decided it was time to get my freezers in a bit of order. Although I have inventories of what's in them there was no rhyme or reason to the shelves so things were just crammed into wherever there was a space. I decided that my big freezer would be solely for meat & fish and the other for everything else. In my head I would be able to open the door and see rows of neatly packaged products with space here and there stored in a sensible order. Cue firstcramming things in rather than flat freezing means that some stuff is an odd shape so having come out of a space doesn't necessarily mean it fits well elsewhere. However, cue the second
having things dotted here and there means I didn't realise how many of some things I have, put it this way I could feed an army on pork or gammon chops or steaks. The biggest
:o is the realisation that I must have the guts of £300 (at least) of meat & fish which is scary. In part that is because I do buy the bulk of my meat online 3-4 times a year but usually in October I would be thinking about my "winter" meat order, suffice to say I'm not doing one;). Of course the final
is I bought a whole chicken this week as I fancied proper roast chicken and of course being CFO that will mean "spare" chicken for the freezer especially as I planned to lop one of the breasts and legs off freeze these (I'll just add them to the other chicken portions
) and the roast the rest. I've still the smaller freezer to do but do think I've got most of the meat/fish out of that however, it is now crammed with fruit, veg and pre-made food from the bigger freezer but that will need to be a challenge for another day:). On a plus I manage to dislodge the portion of lentil soup that had welded itself around the bars of one of the shelves:).
Needless to say I've nothing prepped or defrosted for dinner.......
(Shuffles off hanging head in shame to pour a (large) glass of wine):rotfl:0 -
Holly - I'm sure your finances will recover. It's horrible when you get a run of expense but at least you should be covered for a good few years so plenty of time to get the savings pot back on track.0

(Shuffles off hanging head in shame to pour a (large) glass of wine):rotfl:. It was the arrival of my new fridge/freezer that made me sort them both out. Like you I have an inventory. I keep a spreadsheet with everything in the freezers, but I think I must have let it slip a bit over the past year. I dare not add up the value of the contents, it would be too scary
