    If I'm in a bungalow, that's another mistake I'm making .... as I bought a 2 bedroom house, with stairs :)

    Maybe madness is catching.... you've got it now.

    For tea I've just heated up two of those sausage rolls (4 down, 2 to go), with some oven chips and some of the beans I opened the other day.

    I had a cheeky choc ice mid afternoon.

    OOOps:o

    The cottage pie & veg was excellent, as anticipated

    I will probably be having a cheeky crumpet later, & perhaps try the newly minted blackberry & apple jam slathered on top

    I`m just waiting for seven different ancient blends of flours to arrive, will mean fun bread making this winter. These old organic grains are wonderful for digestability as most of us evolved from farming stock when these grains were in full production, so our digestive systems cope much better, better than with the all processed chorleywood system and its pesticide filled modern flours

    lunch mackerel and assorted veg from the allotment,
    The grains sound wonderful where have you ordered them from?
    Snap re lunch - tinned mackerel and salady bits from the garden:)
    Re meringues - there are "recipes" out there for making meringue using aquafaba (ie the liquid from canned chickpeas/cooking one's own chickpeas/etc) that use that instead of egg whites.

    Can't vouch for how well (or otherwise) they work - as I rarely make sweet things - but it might be a thought for some. Goodness knows - it's gotta be cheaper to use something one has anyway than pay for eggs (ie at the price freerange eggs cost).
    My friend made these for her civil partnership "do" as there was a child with a serious egg allergy attending so they wanted the buffet to be a completely "egg-free" zone, they did work surprisingly well though not IMHO as tasty as "real" ones. HM meringue done well is, to me, a thing of deep joy. I love it when they aren't too dry or too fluffy but have that slightly toffeeish bit in the centre:D. She also made a chocolate mousse with it and it was fabulous, though I wasn't so keen on the mayo substitute made with it. I like ideas that use up things that would otherwise go to waste.:)
    I'm afraid I've had a cheeky large bar of chocolate, two cupcakes, apple and blackberry crumble with custard and cream and a crumpet for good measure. I'm considering having a slice of cake.

    I now know that I'm really upset because I do comfort eat when I'm in a bad place and upset. This combination happens very rarely thankfully. I think the last time was two years ago when my dad died at the end of March and mum at the beginning of September. On a positive note, I only seem to do it for two consecutive days and then go back to my normal eating habits so no harm done.
    Hope you you feel better tomorrow x

    It's been a day of unplanned visitors - thankfully the place was reasonably clean and tidy and I've been relieved of some of my bramble surplus:). I've nothing prepped or defrosted so it will be cumberland sausage with roasted veg as I CBA prepping too much. I could go for "here's one I made (or bought) earlier" but I don't fancy any of the choices or they need pasta cooked to go with them or they are better if defrosted first. I was thinking spanish type omelette but it "seems" like too much effort which is embarassing.:o Typical CFO dilemma for me - lots and lots of choice but can't decide, definitely one of these nights where it would lovely to have someone say "dinner's just about ready, can I tempt you to a glass of wine" .......

    If I win "the big one" on the lottery ... more money than you can possibly EVER spend ... then anybody who has quoted/responded to or about any of my posts in this thread up to this point will be promised that I will pay for a chef of your own choosing (without being daft that is - I mean a chef style provided by a local chef/organisation, not Mr Roux to personally fly in for a month!) for any one month of the year every year for life. So you'd know there's one whole month when you can just be fed. :) And that chef would have a budget of £500 to spend on food to feed you with.

    I think a month a year would be a nice ongoing treat.

    I don't know how many people that is ... or how many years you will live ... but I bet I just blew close to £1-2million!

  • It's me that has a bungalow :D. So it will be a bit worrying if I start wandering up the stairs to get to the bathroom, but I am mad, I've known that for years :).

    ...and I'd be even madder if I did. As I've also got a bungalow - and I'm not convinced the standard of workmanship of the house would be up to me trying to wander around up in the loft without coming through the ceiling....:cool:

    :rotfl::rotfl:Me too....except I don't take Rennies....

    You gotta like our gentle English self-deprecating sense of humour :rotfl:. I've come to appreciate it over the years:). I remember the moment when a foreign lodger of mine years back started making comments like it - and I thought "Yep...she's 'got' us off hasn't she".

    We'll let you in on this caronc - you've got it too:)

    .....and yep...PN...think I might just take you up on that "chef for a month" offer if....

    What have I said/done now ?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    I've not much planned for today - got up tired & a bit shaky ( I get the shakes sometimes before a vertigo attack) so think it may be a mainly horizontal day though extra meds seem to have helped:). I've been a good daughter and sorted out an on-line shop for my Dad, interpreting his list is fun .... "Sandwich filler", me "Do you mean a tub of something or a jar of sandwich spread?, my Dad (looking puzzled) "No, cold meat to fill a sandwich" :cool::rotfl::rotfl:

    My shopping should arrive in a bit - have treated myself to a naughty slice of gala pie so that and salad will do me nicely for lunch. I haven't a clue yet about dinner tonight.

    Nothing scoffed so far today, did the washing/hung it out instead.... and I'm trying to mentally get round to doing something that MUST be done today .... but some things are hard to actually "get round to it" no matter how important they are.

    I'm a professional procrastinator by default.
