I`m just waiting for seven different ancient blends of flours to arrive, will mean fun bread making this winter. These old organic grains are wonderful for digestability as most of us evolved from farming stock when these grains were in full production, so our digestive systems cope much better, better than with the all processed chorleywood system and its pesticide filled modern flours

Own toast this morning with peanut butter, lunch mackerel and assorted veg from the allotment, little dark chocolate. Later one meringue, raspberries and bit of cream, a very yummy highlight for me

Early evening meal, ok I call it tea, will be simple salad

Babysitting tomorrow and will have to eat whatever is available but I will come back to one of my hm ready meals and will get veg prepped for that this evening

Got a bike ride in yesterday but not today. I am chilling and spinning wool
  • Re meringues - there are "recipes" out there for making meringue using aquafaba (ie the liquid from canned chickpeas/cooking one's own chickpeas/etc) that use that instead of egg whites.

Can't vouch for how well (or otherwise) they work - as I rarely make sweet things - but it might be a thought for some. Goodness knows - it's gotta be cheaper to use something one has anyway than pay for eggs (ie at the price freerange eggs cost).

I like my meringues thoroughly dry and crispy, not gooey and cooked quickly ... so I've never bothered to make them - I've also never bothered to buy them. I like meringue, but it comes under the heading of "there's too much food to choose from and some things simply never get eaten even if I like them".

Today for "breakfast" I had the final two choccies from the bag .... and nothing else....

And as I typed that I remembered! I put toast on about half an hour ago! I'd forgotten and wandered off - and then, a bit later, I could smell bread cooking - I even walked all over the house to work out where the smell was coming from and checked I'd not left something in the mini oven.... still didn't remember I'd made toast.

So I've just finished it off and am now eating it.

I'm beginning to wonder if there's something wrong with me!

Breakfast was porridge, def got the hang of it now, as long as I remember to plan ahead before bed

I had absolutely no ideas for dinner, except I wanted to have some fresh veg with it. Luckily Waitrose provided a YS ready made bung in the oven cottage pie for one. I've had them before and they are nice & tasty, steamed veg & brown sauce [STRIKE]on the side[/STRIKE] blobbed on. Dinner done

Lunch was back to cheese salady sarnie, now with wholemeal that I bought in Morries yesterday. I much prefer Morries or the Lild wholemeal ones, at the price I'm willing to pay anyway, which is around or under 50p.

Weather has turned showery, just right for cottage pie & veg, quite looking forward to it now

At least you are in a bungalow, so never arrive upstairs wondering why you went upstairs in the first place, I've done that sometimes, other times my bladder reminds me of the reason I'm there:o

    Afternoon everyone,

I've had scrambled egg on toast for breakfast. Then a usual tuna mayo sandwich for lunch. I got some y/s peppers in Waitrose this morning so came back home and put a goulash in the slow cooker for dinner. I'll have that with some rice.

There will of course be two portions left over, so I'll either have one tomorrow and freeze one or freeze both of them I'm not sure yet.

Had a bit of a disaster so I don't really feel much like eating at the moment :(. A bit of a first world problem, but upsetting to me.

    .

why on earth would anyone use that, we should be eating what nature provides and as close to unadulterated nature as possible. Ok sugar in meringues but I made 9 crispy meringues with organic freetrade brown caster sugar and three organic egg whites. Had one with allotment raspberries and a dollop of double cream from grass fed cows and it was yummy beyond belief

Eating well is all about a balanced diet, a bit of everything from each food group. There was a lot of goodness in the old idea of meat or fish and two veg. Trouble is that we have too much choice these days and the manufacturers have too much covert influence and suck us in, take for eaxample all those veg oils and margarines, which are now being proven to cause heart attacks and worse. Veg oils are generally very unstable and quickly turn into harmful fats when exposed to warmth and/or light. Just look at our teeth, we evolved to eat lots of different foodstuffs from meat to veg to grains, miss one group out at your peril

    If I'm in a bungalow, that's another mistake I'm making .... as I bought a 2 bedroom house, with stairs :)

Maybe madness is catching.... you've got it now.

For tea I've just heated up two of those sausage rolls (4 down, 2 to go), with some oven chips and some of the beans I opened the other day.

I had a cheeky choc ice mid afternoon.

It's me that has a bungalow :D. So it will be a bit worrying if I start wandering up the stairs to get to the bathroom, but I am mad, I've known that for years :).

I'm afraid I've had a cheeky large bar of chocolate, two cupcakes, apple and blackberry crumble with custard and cream and a crumpet for good measure. I'm considering having a slice of cake.

I now know that I'm really upset because I do comfort eat when I'm in a bad place and upset. This combination happens very rarely thankfully. I think the last time was two years ago when my dad died at the end of March and mum at the beginning of September. On a positive note, I only seem to do it for two consecutive days and then go back to my normal eating habits so no harm done.
