You and me both Pastures....:o
I keep myself somewhat "in order" by my to-do lists and forcing myself to do something-I-dont-want-to most days.0 -
No breakfast porridge this morning, today is volunteer morning and time is tighter than normal slobbing about AM
Lidl waste of time, nothing to inspire, well there was YS smoked salmon but even YS clocked in at over £2, that plus lack of refrigeration while volunteering meant it stayed on the shelf
Lunch was back to cheese salady sarnie, as nice as ever if repetative
Dinner is ?????. Could be a healthy calorie light cottage cheese salad, or a not so healthy calorie heavy cheese on toast with baked beans. Sun is out at the moment, both options are minimum prep / cook so it really is undecided until I get in the kitchen laterEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
After yesterday's food fest I didn't want any breakfast this morning (no surprise there
).
I have just used up the last of an opened tin of tuna in a tuna may sandwich. I think I will have to start having something different for lunch, but I don't want the tuna stash hanging around for years and years.
Dinner will be sausages, mash and steamed veg with onion gravy, if I can find the onions that I know are here somewhere. Two sausages out of the freezer doesn't make much space in there, but I just had a fancy for this today. I will have to try and have something that is taking up more freezer space for the next couple of days.0 -

MMMMn, now I sort of fancy that, I have frozen bangers & instant mash available, perhaps tomorrow's dinner is now sorted, well once I get some more fresh veg inEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Lidl waste of time, nothing to inspire
All that posh stuff they've squeezed onto the shelves, plus the growing number of "Special Products" in the baskets, has meant that the variety one used to enjoy at such shops has been obliterated.
While they're stocking 6 varieties of smoked salmon and 6 De Luxe dessert ranges.... gone are the cheap quiche varieties and interesting cheapo ice creams.
It used to be a joy to shop there, see what they had....
And, even the cheap stuff's gone up in price suddenly. All those meals for one that used to be £1.39 now seem to be £1.69.
Today I've had for lunch the final 2 sausage rolls, warmed up, from the 6-pack I bought at Lidl (£1.09 I think)
It's been the best drying day ever here....washing is already 99% dry as a bone! It's only been out there 5 hours! I'm used to bringing it in still a bit damp even on good days.0 -
Hi,
New to the forum, hello all
With regards to meals for one, I've started to do a big batch of food for lunches on a Sunday for the week. Made a large paella on Sunday, and have had for most lunches this week (albeit starting to get bored of it now). I tend to keep things light in the evening with a chicken salad usually...sometimes with a tub of Ben and Jerry's after.
Anyone else have a solo treat most nights?0 -

I think we all end up eating the same thing for a few days running every now and again and get fed up with up. The alternative is to try and get it into our already full freezers, and that can be a problem in itself. My freezers are usually pretty much full to brimming.

Good evening everyone,
Welcome to the forum HarveyMorand
As I suspected earlier today has ended up being mainly horizontal so dinner is going to be a portion of cottage pie from the freezer with some runner beans:)0 -
Finally - and my latest cookbook turned up by post today - ie one recommended by a friend "Never too late to turn vegan - the over 50 guide".
Started flipping through it and spotted an almond miso sauce to have with a Buddha Bowl/hippie bowl. Said sauce obviously one that would take about 2 seconds flat in my Vitamix (ie mega-powerful blender). Now I've not tried white miso (or any miso) before - but had a packet waiting for my attention and blitzed together almonds, miso, bit of garlic powder. Followed by finding it was thick and clidgy - so chucked in some mylk (ie plant milk) the recipe hadnt specified.
Just had some of that sauce with cooked rice and quinoa, some roast cauliflower, some cucumber, some tomatoes, some olives and verdict - nom/nom/licks lips. Miso is blimmin' expensive imo - but 'twas nice.
Well that experiment worked out:)
Now to see what the rest of that book holds in store for me...0 -

Yep, agree on all that. They are building a super Lidl in town, so my local one will be food only so they say, be interesting to see if a wider choice turns up once those "special products" go
Welcome HarveyMorand, hope you enjoy your time here, One thing many find is the sudden triggering of food memories from years ago and the urge to go and retry it.
Caronc, you following me? That was my last night's dinner. Hope yours was as tasty as mine was
Tonight's dinner was the salad option, slightly modified because when I opened the cottage cheese it was a bit furry  so binned it. It was only a 10p YS so not unexpected TBH
So had cubed cheddar salad instead, with last of the Morries frozen chips, bottom of the bag so a bit bitty. Glad my next lot are the Lidl ones now back in stock
Then a pair of crumpets, with strawberry jam, very healthy, with the salad must be 5/5 fruit & veg so farEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
