Chloris I've been doing a lot of reading about nutrition as part of my running learning curve. The nutrition element of running isn't as severe as the BSD obviously as a very low calorie diet wouldn't be suitable for somebody running but.....it does mention using fat as an energy source if you are wanting to lose weight. It says that it takes about 2 weeks of carb reduction to train your body to produce the enzymes for using fat as an energy source as opposed to producing the enzymes used for processing the carbs that it is used to. Just thought you mind find that little gem interesting. The running book isn't what anyone could call a "fad diet" book. It's one of a series of books produced by a popular running information source. I'm the same apple shape as you by the way.

I had a rummage through my "too small for me to wear yet" cupboard last week and added 3 pairs of jeans, one pair of trousers and 2 dresses to the clothes that fit me, yay. I can't actually see the difference but the tape measure and the scales both say it's happening. I'm also the lowest weight I've been for 18 years.

Weight loss to date 8lbs. Happy with the progress. The next stage will be more of a willpower test though with slower progress. Think the answer will be to keep busy and have asked OH not to bring unhealthy rubbish into house.

Going to try to be more organised today. Have to go to a meeting tonight, so I'm time-limited, but don't want to resort to those pizzas I know I have in the freezer.

breakfast: 30g oats with fat free Greek yoghurt and strawberries
lunchtime: 80g cous cous cooked with stock cube and lemon, with rocket, ham, basil, cucumber, tomato.
tea: thinking chicken breast, with new potatoes and a smoked paprika tomato sauce topped with light cheddar and mixed veg. but I might have to have mine late.
snack. plum, maybe some carrots before the meeting.

Hubby will have to fill the gap with a ham sarnie if he's hungry.
    Keep reading books!
August grocery challenge Budget £150. Spent so far: £109.32. Remaining: £40.68

CRANKY40 thank you, it's interesting to know it takes a couple of weeks to switch to fat adaptation. I'm trying to make sure I am having a fat source with every meal as my carbs are low and the calories are too low for my liking without. I have dropped sugar, grains and can't eat potatoes as I'm intolerant. It is a lovely treat to have a small spoon of almond butter.
Well done getting into those smaller clothes and the exciting weight loss. X

    Morning All,

Thankfully it’s a bit cooler here today much more suitable for a bit of energetic gardening. Yesterday my neighbour kindly gave me a helping hand to remove a very sad looking pot bound rhododendron – ashamed to admit it’s been in the pot for about 10 years, I know, I know, plant abuse :o

Picture if you can two overweight women of a certain age struggling with the heat and said plant  we had to have a sit down with a Pimms to recover :rotfl:. So today before it gets too warm I need to dig quite a large hole and re-plant it, poor thing hope the shock hasn’t killed it.

    Foodwise =
B – avocado & strawberry smoothie - tried out some frozen avocado, I wasn't too impressed but realised despite putting it on a metal plate I didn't give it the recommended defrost time.
L – ham, lettuce, tomato, kimchi and a crispbread
D – haddock goujons, sweet potato wedges, beetroot & coleslaw.
    Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
    July - Grocery spends = £119.54
    Aug - Grocery spends = £42.19

Thanks. I'm not great with potatoes either, or any of the nightshades come to that. They make me feel a bit queasy and I get an interesting rash....apart from peppers which upset my stomach completely. I've been having some organic peanut butter with my breakfast toast and banana, yum.

0.5lbs off for me this week please Knit Witch. That rounds off my loss this challenge to a nice even number. :)
