We diet two days a week because we are on the 5 + 2 diet.

    It's 600 calories a day for a man and 500 for a woman.

Yesterday we had chinese-style soup again as our main meal and it was very good.
    1. tiny amount of rapeseed oil or other fat/ oil
    2. half an onion
    3. half a stick of celery
    4. a few mushrooms
    5. small amount of fresh root ginger
    6. one garlic clove
    7. one tomato
    8. tiny amount of dried chilli flakes
    9. half a tin of beans (white, black-eyed, haricot or similar) drained & rinsed
    10. small shake of fish sauce or squeeze of anchovy paste if you have it
    11. some chicken stock https://www.knorr.com/uk/knorr-products/touch-of-taste/chicken-touch-of-taste.html
    12. water
    13. two cabbage leaves with stalks removed then rolled together into a sausage-shape & finely sliced/ shredded
Only enough oil or fat to barely grease the bottom of the pan.

    Items 2-7 finely chopped.

Items 2-9 cooked really, really gently in the pan with the lid on till it is all soft but not at all brown - the longer the better - half an hour?

Add items 10-12 and simmer gently for minimum ten minutes.

When you are nearly ready to eat, add the cabbage leaves & cook for a few minutes.

    Serves 2.

(If you are not on a diet day you can add rice noodles in with the cabbage. Could be made properly vegetarian or vegan with a few small changes to the stocks).

    would've . . . could've . . . should've . . .

Hi - WI day and it could have been worse!

+2lb puts me back to my starting point.

B: low carb granola, berries, skim
    L: soup and salad
D: lightly smoked salmon, baby new spuds, kale

    40 min dog walk
I have booked a riding assessment for tomorrow after not being on a horse for at least 7 years - should be fun. We are holidaying with friends who are keen riders so we are going to do a ride/trek one of the days. I didn't want to waste the whole time remembering the basics whilst there (Dartmoor) so DD and I are going to squeeze in a couple of lessons. DD has done very little riding but wants to be a vet so a bit of horse exposure is no bad thing. DH will go for a walk instead as riding doesn't interest him.

Br: the usual boiled egg & 2 crispbreads

lunch: the last of the gammon joint, salad & grated cheese. Frenzied mental battle ensued. I found some bread rolls in the freezer so I thawed one as I'm trying to run the freezer down. Now, should I eat it to avoid wasting it or not eat it in the interests of losing weight. I wish life would stop throwing these conundrums at me.
In the end I compromised and ate half of it. And some more Vienetta - as I'd already blotted my copy book over the roll.

Sometimes when you have increased something, or changed your diet etc, it can take a week or so to register, so stick with it and here's hoping for a good loss next week!

    Thanks for the encouragement, KW.

I think the problem may have been that I've been taking lots of Fybogel to try to remain 'regular', but one of the known side effects is getting bloated which I certainly am! I've stopped the Fybogel and things are looking more positive for next week's weigh in. Probably TMI. :)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I'm fascinated by how much my weight fluctuates over a week... :D

    Hot, Carmen? Hot?
Here on the Sunshine Isle it's as dark as night, blowing a gale and tipping it down. The dog and I are wrapped up cosily and watching an old film on TV.

    Breakfast: beans on toast

Lunch: cheese omelette, salad and half the roll left from yesterday.
    nectarine.

    That's it for today.
