    Good morning everyone

I would like to join the next challenge please Knit Witch with an aim to lose 20lbs. I haven't been watching what I've eaten with the predicted consequences of gaining a lot of weight over the past month or so.

My youngest daughter has been very ill and I needed to call an ambulance for her on Boxing Day. I was panicking that I would not be allowed to go with her as I would be too fat for them to safely take me but 'fortunately' the ambulances were too busy to take her so I got a taxi instead. Then at the hospital I wanted to stay with her on the ward but the chair provided had arms and I barely fit in there and spent an incredibly sore and uncomfortable night. This has all brought into sharp relief the reality of being so fat and how I need to sort it out.

I will be calorie counting and I have an appointment with a hospital dietician next week so will be taking on board their advice too. I have bought myself a bullet journal to keep my hands and mind occupied and will also be knitting and drawing in the evenings (my danger time) as well. My family are being very supportive even though they have been here many many times before. My husband started a puppy fund for me for Christmas and so I am saving with the aim of getting myself a puppy in the late Spring early Summer time so I also want to be fitter for that.

It has been good to catch up with all your news and I hope we all do well in the New Year.

So - looks as though the festive period has hit the hips already! I've just hopped on the scales for the first time since our wedding in September and I'm the heaviest I've ever been. I've always been between 9 st to 9 st 7 lbs (I'm 5'1" so this was healthy-ish for me), but now I'm 10st - and according to the NHS BMI calculator I'm officially overweight!

I'm going to do my best and try and lose a stone cutting out as much bread and fatty stuff as I can. I've got a calorie counter app which also record steps and lets you add activities (you probably know the one I mean).

I really want to do this both for my health and also just to improve my energy levels - I feel so sluggish and bloated these days!!

Good luck to everyone this year!

ETA - I'm so sorry to hear your daughter has been ill dumpling. I hope she gets better soon.

Ooh dumpling...I'm playing with a bullet journal too!...DH got fed up with lists on envelopes everywhere so I had it as a surprise Xmas present. I am using a book with blank pages not grids or dots.

As I cannot draw, it really is very basic...but I am enjoying watching youtube vlogs of lovely pages and makes a change to looking at recipes!

    Fireworks already started.
Been invited to neighbour for NY, but it will be just a drink at midnight so not so much temptation to eat.

Happy New Year to everyone. Here's to a healthy and slimmer 2018!
