    Hello,

congratulations to everyone who achieved a loss this week and to those who didn't... just put it behind you and try again :)

The day I signed up to this challenge I lost the plot at work and scoffed 4 packs of mini biscuits :o

Felt really disappointed with myself that evening knowing I'd gain lbs he next day ... and I did, so had a stern word and told myself that I can undo the 'damage' by trying again.

I've managed to keep to my calorie budget since then and was really pleased to see that I've lost 1lb this week.

Weekends are my downfall... the co op and it's huge selection of delicious breads is but a 5 minute walk away ( not even far enough to burn a decent amount of calories getting there and back :rotfl:) so I'm going to try having a brunch each day rather than breakfast and lunch.

Sorry for waffling on, I'm a bit of chatterbox :o

Weekends are the problem for me too, all my normal weekday routine stops and I just seem to be bouncing from one food disaster to another. Yesterday was a shocker which I will say no more about:eek:

Arrietty, if you want a companion who also has verbal diarrhoea look no further.

Zafiro, about vinegar........I refer to the ordinary brown malt sort. However the modern vinegar is a pale imitation of the vinegar I used to enjoy as a child. I used to take an empty lemonade bottle down to the off-licence and they would fill it with vinegar from the barrel. I remember once walking home with my precious cargo when the siren went, signalling a daylight raid, or it may have been a doodle bug. Anyway, terrified I took to my heels and managed to get home with the bottle still intact.
These days I tend to buy pickling vinegar, it seems to have a bit more oomph than the ordinary bottles.

How do I use it? Let me count the ways..........

    On salad
In salad sandwiches. OK it makes the bread soggy and the sandwich needs careful handling but very tasty.
On fish, that I'm not keen on the taste of, but I know it's good for me and doused in vinegar it is at least palatable.
    On chips.mmmmmm!
In the form of mint sauce it enhances almost any meat.
A spoonful of mint sauce in a boring soup lifts it from run of the mill to divine.
If you have a sprout hater in your family a sprinkle of vinegar takes away the ouch factor.
A teaspoonful will stop hiccups dead in their tracks. If you can't face that, a few drops on a spoonful of sugar will have the same effect.
My aunt used to dab vinegar on wasp stings, but there I prefer Anthisan.
My grandmother said that in Victorian times she and her sisters used to take vinegar as a slimming aid. This has never worked for me.

I'm sure that there are are many other ways I use it but that will do to be going on with.

What was that you were saying Arrietty?

Wow. I think I only eat it on chips. My 11 yo DS however douses all his veggies and fish and meat in it so he is obviously like you, it helps to get it down.

Wow thanks Monagran, loads of ideas. I tried it on broccoli last night and it certainly made a difference. I only had white vinegar to hand so tried that, but next time I go shopping I'll have a look at different 'flavours'

Weigh-in tomorrow I've not weighed myself for a whole week on purpose to see if my old eating routine when I used to work is working. I've done this because I'd been mini yo-yoing over the last few weeks and it was making me frustrated.

Hosp appointments have come through - lung capacity evaluation this Wednesday, Appt with surgeon 1st Dec - op probably in Jan (open heart, valves and bi-passes I'll know more in Dec) it's all a bit scary. I'll be Ok until Christmas and then a nervous wreck in the new year.

Now every last bit will have been spent and with no will, probate will take ages and we must maintain the empty house....and I cannot afford it.

    L. Chicken and sweetcorn pie, potatoes, green beans...all veg from garden.

Evening snack will be cheese and crackers for him...I will have have fruit and yog.

I haven't posted recently because I know I have put the weight back on that I'd lost.

Not recording anything as yet though because I hope to repair the damage one way or another.

    Evening all

Pleased to report another 1 lb decluttered :j

Congrats all the losers and commiserations others.

I'm another vinegar lover. I didn't realise there was soo much difference between the different grades of balsamic vinegar until I happened to read an article about it. Definitely explained why some of them are so expensive - but it's worth spending a reasonable amount if you want a good one.. I also use flavoured balsamic such as raspberry for a change or organic apple cider.

If you want to cook some cheaper meat in a casserole and don't like/want to use wine - add a good slug of malt vinegar and it will tenderise the meat just the same.

White vinegar is great for cleaning and I also dilute my fabric softener half and half - cheaper and just as good.

Hope you all have a great Monday

If you can't afford to pay all the costs then there must be some help available until the estate is sorted surely. It really pays to get your funeral paid in advance and a will done though as this shows. TT don't get stressed, if you can't pay you can't pay and you need to make that clear to whoever needs to know.

    zafiro - I'll bet you'll be nervous.
