Anyone find STAYING OUT OF SHOPS an absolutely essential tactic when trying to stick to/reduce food spend? Even in a food shop I never fail to end up with things I didn't go in for! Where is my self control :rotfl:
That's definitely my problem. Even with a list, I've got the attention span of a goldfish and I'm far too easily taken in by yellow reduced to clear stickers!Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056

Back from a long weekend away at a festival and I've a few spends to report. Hubby was tasked with buying apples, bananas & bread to take with us and wasn't able to tell me how much he spent. He also bought chocolate brioche but do get them all from Aldi so I'm going to say £5 for the lot. I then bought milk at the services on our way home for £1.25 and yesterday spent £22.32 on fruit and veg in the greengrocer's.
On a mission to empty the freezer so there should be no problem keeping to budget until the end of the month.

90p on YS loaf (forgot to defrost one this morning) and salad bits. CBA cooking so burger salad sarnies tonight; and avocado salad sandwiches for lunch tomorrow.2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000

I'm finidng near daily shopping but for YS stuff to be helpful; but I have a reliable mark down time at the bakery section! Full price stuff needs to be weekly, I think.2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -
Since last post have spent £18.23. This included a lot of reduced and clearance items. Some of the reduced fruit (blueberries and strawberries) I have frozen. Yep again with freezing items when we're trying to empty it. It is slowly emptying I swear.
We now have just over £1 a day left for the month. Should be doable.

Yes agree, I fail in two ways. We live quite a drive from the supermarket so when I go I'm always thinking will I run out of ... before I come again or when I'm making my list at home I'm thinking - maybe I need more of ..... just in case someone comes to see us.
Now; I want to get to next week before I venture out again. I have enough in fridge/freezer/cupboards to survive quite well but again that niggle of 'maybe someone will visit' is there - do I have enough milk? What I need is will power which is not a strong feature with me.0 -

Brassic woman I am interested in this long life milk..is that the milk that comes in cartons in dry aisle near plant milk? A cheapish milk that I could have in the cupboard for when fresh milk runs out would be perfect if it kept me out the shop!0

Yes, I think skimmed UHT tastes quite like semi skimmed fresh. Others think it's gross! Maybe you need a tasting day?2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000
